Two steps forward, one step back...

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Getting back on track last week resulted in good progress... this week not so much. After the initial loss, my weight stalled and started to creep back up. I'm back at Friday's weight and DH want to go to Durango and have a nice lunch out before the big Memorial Day weekend... hmm - that will be good for another gain.
On the plus side this weekend should be be fairly quiet. DH will be on the lake and I'll be home, setting my own schedules and meals. NO excuses not to stay on plan, right?

Yep, when the scale goes down, I can guarantee dh will call out from the other room, "Let's go to Denver!" (and eat!) It's like he's psychic! Just call me Rubber Ball from the way I bounce up and down on the scale. Take advantage of the solitude and stay on track. You'll be glad you did! emoticon

I don't know about increasing your activity -- if you're like ME, that's a lot to ask! But, Sweetie -- you're doing good, so just eat a light lunch when you go out, then when you're home alone all week-end, really make the right choices. And be sure to walk!

Bees like blue?

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

We used to have a blue water bowl on the cats' table and a few weeks ago we were invaded by bees. I guess bees get thirsty too but why do they go for the blue bowl and not the red?

    I googled....Do Bees Have A Favorite Color?

And here is an explanation by Charles Q. Choi (Specialist in Live Science)
The favorite color of the buff-tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris), violet in its case, could help it find more sweet nectar, scientists now find.

Researchers took bees that had never seen real flowers from nine southern Germany bumblebee colonies and exposed them to violet or blue artificial flowers in the lab. The investigators found these bees—one of the most numerous bumblebee species in Europe—often prefer violet to blue, seemingly by nature.

Interesting isn't it?!

At 8:40 a.m. my classroom thermometer read 89 degrees! No A.C. in school -- except in the office, of course! :)

Sunny Sunday

Sunday, May 23, 2010

After all the dust in the air yesterday, this morning is calm and sunny. It's supposed to get windy again later on and I hope this time there won't be as much dust.
It was warm and I had the windows open... needless to say, I can dust the house all over again :(

Back on track

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Yesterday was day 2 of being back with the program. It feels great to have some control over my eating again.
Technically we're in control all the time, after all we're the ones making the choice of what to put in our mouths... So really the control is over the better choices.
You could call it will power or getting your head screwed on right or whatever.
I'm convinced that weight loss (or anything else for that matter) is 80% in the head and 20% doing. Without the mental will to do it, it's not going to happen. Not even when you're "sort of" want to do it... sort of isn't cutting it, commitment is.

I'm happy to say I'm committed again (for now)

Me, too. Had a long ride there "under the wagon" instead of "on the wagon." The bear came every night for a week...but has been gone for a week...so my "emotional eating" is less now. And the sunshine helps, too! Have a great weekend and stay committed. You've come too far to go back now! emoticon

Good luck! I just finished day 8 of level 2. Tomorrow is graduation here. Three parties to attend. How in the world am I going to keep away from all that food? I baked four pies (from frozen, I'm not a martyr!) for my friend yesterday. I hope you have a great day! It's supposed to be sunny and 85 here today, but it looks more like rain, and weatherbug shows a huge band of showers coming right at us from Minnesota..... emoticon
