Last night and today my tendonitis in my left foot is in full force. This meant no gym day today, and taking it easy. To not make the day a total waste I was able to work my upper core with weights and crunches. Hopefully, tomorrow, my foot will be bearable to make it in to the gym.The elliptical and treadmill are calling to me.

Today began as one of those down in the dumps days. You know the ones, where you are putting in the work, and you know you are seeing some results, yet at the same time you aren't seeing the end result. So after the pity party, if you can call it that, I gave myself a mental shake, reminding myself, that in fact, the weight didn't go on overnight, it sure isn't coming off overnight. I put in a workout DVD and kept on trekking along.
Since it is Ash Wednesday I am having fish for dinner. I confess I wanted french fries, but luckily there aren't any in the house, so I am having spinach and cheese risotto on the side.

Tonight I put in an old VHS(yes some of us still kept out VCR's) tape. It is full of workout shows recorded off the television called, the Fitness Zone. I completed one of the high intensity cardio episodes and let me tell you, it was tough. Very fast paced-lunges, squats, power squats. I loved it.

I woke to a massive snowfall in Ontario this morning-cleaned about 3/4 foot of snow off my car, but there was no way I was going to make the usual 30 minute commute into work today. I was able to enjoy my workout in the morning instead of evening. I went outside a few hours later, cleaned about the same amount of snow off my car again as well as the sidewalks. Great workout opportunities today. Some may think it crazy to clear away snow when it is still snowing, but in my mind it is accomplishing two things - an extra workout, and I will have less heavier snow to clear off once this storm comes to an end. My legs are certainly feeling energized. It is a day like this I wish I had some snowshoes-now what a workout that would be.

I was telling a friend, about the workout I had done last night. She told me she wished she had my energy to move forward to good health. I told her, it wasn't so much about the energy I had (I was tired after standing on my feet all day moving around already at work), but I knew I had the workout DVD's and have been avoiding the gym currently. I know 43 is just around the corner. I know what I want-to be fit and healthy, and sitting in my comfy chair in front of the tv for the last 20 of those 43 years got me where I am and isn't going to make it happen, but getting up and moving is another step closer to it. It is happening. It isn't in the distance. Every night I do a cool down routine, and one of the stretches takes balance, which mine wasn't good. Since I have started, I have seen a difference in my co-ordination. After I complete the workouts my energy level is up. I like that. And so, I will keep moving forward and hope my friend will also stop wishing about what she wants, and also moves forward to get what she wants.
