BUMMER!!!!!

I just opened the pics from a family reunion which was a week ago and I look
h - u - g - e!.

I just want to take my little bit of savings and go off to a "fat farm" and lose 75 pounds. But that won't help much will it? When I came home I would just gain it all back.

I just have to keep the goal in mind of losing the weight and keep doing the things SPARK teaches - exercise (cardio and strength) , stay within my calorie range and post it every day, drink my water, stay motivated with my teams.

It is a bummer. And 6 months ago I would have headed to the store for cake and chocolate marshmallow ice cream. Today, I am going to just keep on keeping on with my new skills.

    That's the only way to do it, isn't it? When I lost my 50 lbs, the people at the doctor's office actually asked me how I did it! Well, duh!

    You really CAN do this...and we are all here to do it with you so you're not alone! (You're not alone in thinking you look huge either...every once in awhile we all have a moment where we feel a little shocked by ourselves. Denial never did look pretty on me!)

I LIKE VEGGIES AFTER ALL

I HAD CONVINCED MYSELF THAT I DIDN'T LIKE VEGGIES (BEANS AND CORN) AND NEVER GOT TO CHECK THE LITTLE BOX FOR EATING 5 VEGGIES AND FRUITS A DAY.

THEN I REALIZED THAT I DO LIKE THEM, I JUST DON'T LIKE THE 210-280 CALORIES PER CUP OF BEANS. AND I CAN'T JUST EAT A CUP OF BEANS, I HAVE TO HAVE MASHED POTATOES AND CORNBREAD WITH IT.

INSTEAD, I STARTED EATING LOW CAL WHOLE GRAIN BREAD WITH MUSTARD AND LETTUCE WITH 4 SLICES OF LF DELI HAM FOR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF CALORIES AND MUCH MORE SATISFYING.

A DEVILED EGG OR GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH IS ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF CALORIES AS A CUP OF BEANS.

SO, I DO LIKE BEANS AND CORN AFTER ALL. I JUST DON'T LIKE THE CALORIES.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO GET YOUR 5 FRUITS AND VEGGIES A DAY?

    Glad you like them.
I have a smoothie every morning - strawberries, blueberries, banana, pineapple and whatever is fresh (currently peaches)
I also have raw veggies as my afternoon snack - broccoli, carrots, peppers & snap peas when fresh
I'm a Freggie lover!

    The beans you're talking about are not green beans--they are things like kidney, navy, etc. They don't count as veggies, they're like a protien. Green and wax beans are veggies and I imagine they're only 35 or 40 calories a cup if you don't add butter.

SINCE BEING ON THE SPAR DIET, I HAVE NOT BEEN EATING BEANS AND CORN, MY NORMAL SOUTHERN VEGGIES. I CONVINCED MYSELF THAT I DIDN'T LIKE THEM ANYMORE. AND I SO WANTED TO PUT A CHECK MARK IN THE VEGGIE BOX.

AHA! I REALIZED THAT I STILL LOVE ALL KINDS OF BEANS AND CORN. WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS THE CALORIES OF THESE VEGGIES.

WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GREEN BEANS, MOST ALL TYPES OF BEANS HAVE AROUND 210 TO 280 CALORIES PER CUP. AND WHO IS GOING TO EAT JUST BEANS? YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE MASHED POTATOES AND CORN BREAD WITH THEM.

INSTEAD, I HAVE BEEN EATING SANDWICHES. YOU CAN HAVE THE LOW CAL 2 SLICES OF WHOLE GRAIN BREAD FOR 70 CALS., ALL THE LETTUCE YOU WANT, MUSTARD FOR 3 CALS., AND 4 SLI. OF DELI SLICES LF HAM FOR 170. THAT IS ABOUT 244 CALS. ABOUT THE SAME AS A CUP OF BEANS.

SO, I DO STILL LIKE BEANS AND CORN. I JUST DON'T LIKE THE CALORIES.
