Day 6 Lent and Low Carb

Lent devotional was precious reminder to me that I was bought with a price and that i am no longer to chose "bad" or harmful" but that I am to do good with this body and time that the Lord has purchased for me ...John 10:10b ...my abundant life in Him.

Low Carb - This terrible cold is wearing me down - not interested in food - lots of liquids and found****Bryers has a Low Carb Chocolate Ice Cream that a friend brought me today!!!
Totals Calories: 1083 Carbohydrates 87 Fiber 27 Usable Carbs=72

I'm content with these #s so far. Lots of learning, reading and finding fibers .. That is helping the Gluten free lifestyle I must observe !!

  For Lent, I, along with my church, are doing the "Daniel Fast". It has been a wonderful and humbling experience so far. I now eat "for the nourishment of my body" instead of eating everything in the store. I have been eating a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, beans and seeds. My husband and children have also enjoyed this type of eating (even though they still want a little meat). I continue to pray when I feel tempted.

Lent Day 5 Low Carb day 5 [don't count Sundays]

Sick with cold and sore throat so didn't do much today - did get out the box of Easter stuff and set out my notebook from years past but no progress in decore or anything.

Low Carb is pretty easy when you set your mind to it and throat so sore you don't want to eat much except scrambled eggs and soups - made another pot of homemade chicken veggie soup tastes good!

So doing well but not very creative today - more learning to come - Yeah Day 5 is behind me and it really is getting easier!!!

Cal 864 Carbs 90 minus 24 fibers = 64 net carbs on the graphs = i am content!!!

First Sunday of Lent

Medicated myself and went to church but probably should have stayed home. But oh what a wonderful service and so encouarged with the teachings - good set of sermon notes to read through the week.

I don't record foods on Sundays but know I kept the Low carn well so and feeling good on this adventures. Scales not showing anything but I know I am eating more healthy and feeling more even blood sugar.

The Low Carb part is not scaring me any more - lots to learn but feeling that i can succeed. that is a good feeling!!!

  Be aware that when you remove carbs from your life, the fat in your body converts to carbs that your body needs to function. Therefore you lose weight. Its that simple. Blessings on your journey.

Lent day 4 Low Carb Day 4

Lent - Feeling too sick to do much study today - just the encouragement to hear the Call of Jesus to discipleship ... What do You want me to do in my Christian walk and then today of all days, He answers by having the phone ring 4 times with Prayer requests - I am to Pray!!! That has been my ministry for several years but gets clearer as I get older.
Low Carb - new Challenge - I woke with sore throat and chest cold and always make chicken noodle soup - so how do I do that low carb????? I had just mastered my Gluten free recipe and now no noodles either?? So I experimented with making big pot of chicken, onion and spies and lots of water then taking out smaller portions and trying different veggies in it - Some finely shredded cabbage tasted good but like "health food and was vetoed by DH. Mixed frozen veggies was OK for both of us but still miss the noodle or rice component - Suggestions? Also missed my honey in the lemon tea and lots of cough drops since they are just candy or artificial sweet .... Iced tea is feeling better than hot tonight.
I ended the day with 88 carbs and 62 net carbs so managed OK! Of course my calories are down too and the chest cold is still there so will try again tomorrow with some turkey soup!!

    Love homemade chicken or beef soup! I never use rice or noodles, though. Seems to dull the flavor. Keep playing with it. You will get it.

Day 3 Lent and Low Carb

Lent - Feeling kind of blah with my lent devotional this year - did a little exploring on the internet and only found Easter references to Eggs ...but reminded that they are symbol of rebirth. Scripture reference for the day reminded me of value of obedience _ I work at that all the time - so maybe it will grow in value and excitement for me.

Low Carb day 3 _ Article I read concerned me a little about eating too much protein - so I worked harder at more veggies - and guess who got in 10 servings of freggies [fruits or veggies today!!! YEAH!!! 88 Carbs and 22 fibers - ♫One day at a time♫ Tried some mashed chick peas [garbanzo beans] with sprinkle of onion, garlic powders and Lite salt to make simple hummus - I'm working at acquiring this taste and this was the best so far.
