Autumn/Winter meal plans

Sunday, October 12, 2014

The garden fresh produce is all done for this year...going to miss those simple meals...Now to figure out ways to eat well on the Gluten-free for Celic diet and maintain the DASH -dietary Approach to STOP hypertension- heart healthy meals I need.
Crockpot soups will be a major part of it...
Then the home canned things and freezer fruits nd veggies and learning to shop wisely.
Anyone want to share your grocery list with me?

Love crockpot soups when the brisk weather arrives. The aroma permeates the house and is so pleasant to come home to!

I've been lax in keeping up with you my friend. How are you doing? How is recovery from surgery?

I'm going to miss the fresh produce, too. But I have green beans, corn, pickled beets, dried horticultural beans, tomatoes - all put up and ready to use this winter.

I'm planning to do a lot of soups this winter, too. However, I don't have to do the gluten-free route for my meals - it would be a whole new learning experience for me.

I would love to but to many allergies I use a lot of veggies and salads and lean meats

I buy grass-fed, local beef and pastured chicken when I can get it (afford it). Winter is great for root veggies - turnips, kohlrabi, beets, rutabaga, carrots, parsnips and also winter squash. I try to buy organic when I can find it, to reduce the pesticide load in my and my kids's bodies. I love soups and stews in the winter. And we still like the green veggies - peas, beans, spinach, broccoli...

Day 3 of DASH with Daniel Plan

Working hard at DASH with Daniel plans of getting heart healthy

Borrowed part of a facebook post and then putting my present status nd will keep working t goals or targets:
6/25 Did you know that people who keep food journals lose twice as much weight as those who don’t? Journaling is effective not only with food, but with all five Essentials. Start with food. Write down everything you eat: portion size, type of food, time, how you feel when eating it (stress, hunger, boredom, fatigue). Writing down what you eat does two things: It makes you conscious of what you really are eating, and it helps you shift and change your habits.

Carefully entering all foods into a spreadsheet with verification of potassium amounts from labels or USDA Food site on internet

Health Goals:

I am praying that this plan is a huge help to you and that you start losing the weight and feeling better soon. We are really close in weights now as I have gained a lot after my thyroid ablation. Maybe we can work together to get this extra poundage off....

I love journaling, whether a healthy living journal, grief journal, just life journal . . . but I just don't find the time I wish I could devote to it - so it often goes undone.

Hugs - proud of you the way you are kicking your way back to the top!

I do a variation of this with the WW program. We have a journal already prepared to fill in.

It does seem like a good thing to do, but it also looks like a *lot* of work. I'm not sure I could keep up with tracking so many things.

The computer issues with Sparks has become too much so I m leaving Sparks for now - crying over this because of so many dear friends here. But I think this is best for my time and accountability ... have shared with with a few of you but shy about just broadcasting it.

God bless you each one and I hope to return in the summer. probably a new account.
