Tough Day! School is almost over, I "over-frolicked" at the gym and I am SO ready for the outdoor swimming pool to open!

The weather is hot and dry, my temper is hot and my humor dry and....I NEED A BREAK!

Don't give up my friend. I know you won't. When the Spring storms are over, I am going to stay outside forever.

Almost Done.....

Monday, May 23, 2011

School is almost over and I can hardly wait! Of course vacation will be short as I start summer school on June 3rd, but I can go swim a couple of hours and possibly bike and hit the gym every afternoon before studying.

Look, Up In The Sky...It's a Bird, a Plane, a----?

Rain cloud! Yes, there are real live, honest to goodness rain clouds soaring over the area at this time. It has been a long, long time since that has happened.

We are not supposed to get any precipitation but I think prayers are beginning to work as we are getting closer to having some actual, measurable rain. I could even smell moisture in the air at 4 am when I took the dogs out!

The neighborhood wildlife is out and about, most likely enjoying the cool temperatures. It only got into the sixties and the wind of course is blowing like there is no tomorrow. I had to cut my walk short with Spanky this evening because when we got to the end of the driveway there was a coyote in the middle of the road. Broad daylight...not a great sign as rabies is ever prevalent in the area.

Well, here's hoping everyone had a great day and is planning a better tomorrow. I must get back to studying microbiology and then to bed.

I hope you received some decent rainfall!! And watch out for those coyotes!

We had some yesterday (Wed evening to Thurs morning) in Albuquerque. The measurable amount was .5 inches, but I think I got more at my house.

Last summer, I was walking my 10 pounds pups out in a less developed area - heard some coyotes. My brain-damaged little warrior, the Papillion Samurai, barked and growled back. My Pom Shalako, wanted me to pick her up and haul fanny!

emoticon for the rain for you. We had rain all day and they say it's going to rain for the next 7 days. We don't need any more. But, I hope you enjoy your rain. Hugs Irene

Hope you get some rain soon, too! We're finally getting some and had a bunch today, along with a tornado and some hail in one part of town. Weird weather this spring, everywhere it seems!

Gosh - we just finally had the rain subside & we've enjoyed a whole day dry sunshine. It's funny how we both wish for different things, isn't it?

Great Weekend Ride

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Saturday I went with my cycling group to Glenwood New Mexico. The ride is a 67 mile affair from Silver City. Lots of hills and flats and at least this time....heat and dryness.

I got to ride with a strong rider and I sucked up a lot of wheel time. We averaged about 16 miles an hour for the trip and made it in just a little over four hours and we stopped for lunch! The weather was beautiful, mid 80's and little to no wind.

The ride back today was almost as fast. We have numerous forest fires in the area and the smoke was definitely lingering in the air. Once again the wind was not blowing but I believe it was hotter this morning than it was yesterday afternoon. I have drank enough ice water to sink the Titanic!

Hope everyone had a great, active and safe weekend!

Sounds like a great ride but I'm jealous of those temps! It's been a chilly spring up here in Minnesota.

Glad you had a great ride. That smoke and the fire danger is why I'm missing out on hiking during this beautiful weather. I'm going to volunteer for my granddaughters' girl scout camp next month in Glenwood. 3 days up there and I'm looking forward to it. Glad you had a good ride except for the smoke in the air

Summer School

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Last summer I did lots of triathlons, life-guarded at a swimming pool, and generally did nothing except what I wanted to do. This summer promises to be different.

I registered for Microbiology today at WNMU. I only have the class five days a week for four hours a day. For real? I will probably work for the physical therapist I have been observing with in the afternoons.

Exercise----midnight to 4 in the morning is looking good at this time...lol. I am going on a bike trip to Glenwood New Mexico this weekend. It is an all day ride one way and we will spend the night and return on Sunday. I will use this time to plan my summer schedule.

Your schedule always seems so busy to me anyway, and now here you are again with so much going on. I wish I had the energy and drive that you do. But I think it's awesome that you are pursuing your dreams both with your physical abilities and triathalons and also with career goals. I know you will find a way to manage it all!

Wow! That's going to be a big change! And, when I was in college (biology education major), the only class I ever took over the summer was microbiology! By the way, I love, love, LOVE microbiology! I hope you have a wonderful time with it. And, I hope you find some time...during the daylight!... to workout.
