Little Breezy Today

Saturday, March 12, 2011

I went on a 45 mile bike ride today. Parts of it were great and parts of it I had to hang on for dear life to keep from blowing off the bike.

I got some good sunshine, I have a roof over my head and food on my plate. Can't complain...I do not live in Japan!

Have a great Sunday and enjoy ....be safe, happy and active!

You're so right. Even with the losses last week because of the fire, we're still so lucky because no lives were lost. It's still a huge loss for all the families affected, but there is so much still to be grateful for.
Today I plan on heading to the hills for a nice long hike!

Errands and a Change

Thursday, March 10, 2011

After my long and tough ride yesterday I took it relatively easy today. Sure I managed to exercise for 390 minutes, but it was stretching, lifting, swimming, water jogging, etc. I stayed well within my caloric range and I feel ready to go tomorrow for a short, fast ride before I go to "work" observing.

My daughter and I managed to get Spanky to the groomer and Weena to the vet and me to the hairdresser. Spanky is so cute all groomed. Weena has a fungal infection that is making her lose her hair and my hair...........CHANGED, big time. I went from a white blood to a strawberrish blonde and short, much shorter than it was. I'd take a picture but the camera would break and I haven't truly decided if I like it yet. So, I'll wait when it comes to pictures.

I took one of my road bikes to a friend to try and my bike to the shop. My bike is a true female. Three out of four rides she is a dream and the fourth she is a b**at (brat) Ha! She threw her chain three times yesterday and she just was not smooth or cooperative. I guess she did not like how hard we were working. If she had cooperated, we would not have had to work as hard. Personally, I think she is in love with my mechanic! My mechanic tweaks and talks to her and she will do anything the mechanic wants. After leaving the shop....she may or may not like me. Anyway, she will be ready to come home tomorrow and I will just have to wear her out on Saturday.

Stay safe, active and happy!

Fire Pictures and a Long, Steep Ride

Thursday, March 10, 2011

My daughter and I visited my father-in-law's house and looked at the fire damage. We took pictures of what is left of the 5th wheel trailer. My father-in-law was very lucky to still have a house. The fire is still only 50% contained.

After taking pictures, I rode from Pinos Altos, New Mexico down to Sapillo creek by Lake Roberts and then turned around and rode back to Pinos Altos. It was a 74 mile ride and the elevation goes from about 7200 ft. to about 6100ft. from P.A. to Sapillo. The weather was lovely. Tomorrow is dog grooming and dog vet day. Weena is losing hair and no one seems to know why. Blood test showed nothing so she goes to a different vet tomorrow. Tomorrows vet has been in practice over 40 years. She is really good. Weena feels fine but a bald dachshund leaves a little to be desired!

Here are the pictures of my burnt trailer and one of my daughter holding a destroyed lamp and melted light bulb:

Hope everyone is safe, active and happy! Goodnight........... emoticon

So sorry for the losses. Glad the house is okay. I heard on the news this morning that they have now said it was a hot catalytic converter on a car that started the blaze and that they found pieces of it where the fire started. So they say that was the cause and not a cigarette. But it still was some kind of human carelessness that caused to much devastation and heartbreak.

So glad that everyone in your family and hopefully everyone else is safe. But, I'm so sorry that there is so much damage.

When will people ever learn to be careful and stop throwing lit cigarettes on the ground.

Please take care. emoticon

And It Burns, Burns, Burns............

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

The fire south of Silver City is still burning but at least it is about 50% contained. It has destroyed numerous homes, sheds, garages, animals.....and trailers, RV's, etc. My father-in-law and my brother-in-law still have homes!

We are not without loss.....an apple orchard, a couple of horse trailers, a stock trailer and my 5th wheel all have nothing left but frames. There are many people that lost everything they owned so I am thankful for the little we lost. Insurance will take care of it.

I'm hoping the rest of the fire season gets better - glad you are OK, even with the property losses. I blogged on The Devil Went Down to GA because of the line "Fire on the mountain, run, boys, run"

So glad that the losses to your family weren't more serious. It is so hard to think of those who lost everything, including some animals. I talked to someone whose neighbor lost 2 horses that they just couldn't get out of the barn in time although they did get 2 others out. Some people didn't even have time to get their pets out. I'm grateful though that there have been no loss of human lives or serious injuries. It's devastating and yet there is a lot to be grateful for.

So sorry to hear the fire is still burning, Pat -- and especially sorry to hear about the people and animals affected. Too bad they can't catch the cigarette-flicking @$)(*#&$# and charge him/her with arson and murder (of animals) and loss of people's homes and property. Seriously.

The World is On Fire!

Monday, March 07, 2011

The winds were gusting around 60 miles per hour today. Some inconsiderate a**hole tossed a cigarette out the window and the results: Currently up to 12 homes destroyed, horses burned, acreage around 1000 plus acres scorched, my fifth wheel trailer----gone! and the wind still blows and the fire still burns!.
Here are some pictures of smoke and dust. I will blog tomorrow once the full extent of the damage is known.

This is going to be an absolutely devastating event for this area. Many are out of work and the poverty rate in this area is scary! Keep us in your prayers!
Good night all.

I heard there was a grass fire but didn't know it had spread so much since I only listen to the radio in my car. I'm so sorry. That's terrible. I knew there were a lot of sirens and the winds were so dangerously high for a fire. I'm going to see what else I can find out
