I went to the pool twice today. It was wonderful, I am terribly out of swimming shape and sore enough that I could cry...LOL. The second time I got out of the pool to go to dinner with my kids, it was a winter wonderland and it is snowing straight down. Maybe school will be delayed, or cancelled. Course cancelled means I still have to go to school but at least I won't have any kids to deal with.
I realize the last picture is terrible but with only 15 minutes of snowing the lane I was driving in was already disappearing. I am home now and the thunder is amazing which of course means there is lightening but I am not going outside to watch for it because it is snowing straight down and it is a whopping 21 degrees. And I live in the desert? 21 degrees now and 62 degrees yesterday...no wonder I still am not over my cold. At least I got my long ride in this weekend!
Claudia and I went for a great ridethis afternoon. We were going to ride down the Mimbres Valley and then she decided that she wanted to do a little hill climbing. The weather was really nice, sunny and 60 degrees. There were a few stray clouds and the weather says that it is likely to get rainy tonight and remain drizzly for the next 3 or 4 days.
The black Range in a vexing mountain road....2 lanes, hair pin curves and no shoulder to speak of. It is actually a relatively safe place to bike because cars can't go that fast. When we got to our chosen turn around point, we had to stop and enjoy the view.
Cacti and rocks on one side and straight up and down and pines on the other side. This summer I will be sure and get pictures of the rest of the Black Range for you. I even got Claudia to pose for a picture before the return trip.
A 50 miler, great weather, superb company, I hope your Sunday can compare!
During the Christmas break...the pool at Western New Mexico University, had pipes that froze. It was pretty nippy here when it snowed but freezing pipes in an in-door pool? Who turned down the heat?
Anyway, the pool is finally fixed and Monday I plan on being in it at least twice! I am waiting til Monday to make sure I am over my cold. I will just have to go on a couple of short and easy bike rides this weekend during lap swim time...LOL.
Giddy with joy? Yes I am. I never ever, never, thought that I would swim much less that I would miss being able to swim. Of course it is also very difficult to teach water aerobics and lifeguarding classes without a pool.
Since I have been ill the last four days I have had considerable time to think between napping and coughing up a lung. I decided that positive thinking was best, I hate being sick. When I was a kid being sick was an inconvenience and I always thought positive thoughts so I guess I will give it a try. Can't make my head hurt any more than it already does.
Here are some positive things, in pictures that I like. Hope you enjoy!
Not an option, but pretty close to the way I currently feel.
We all have fears. How bad could fuzzy be?
Gym time as soon as I feel better!
Soup soothes my soul...as long as it is NOT chicken soup!
The proper expression to go with one's dry sense of humor!
The ocassional winter view out my door!
Friendly competition, even when I am outclassed!
My fiercest protector and champion, Spanky!
My Tat..soon to have a match!
And all my friends here on Spark People. I am going to retire now. Have to go to work tomorrow like it or not...and I don't, but hubby will be having surgery on his neck before too long and I will need a few more days off.
Great weather here for this time of the year. Mind you it wasn't terrible hot..in the upper 50's to low 60's but the wind was very calm.
I went on a bike ride to Cliff with Tim Mathis again. We did this ride a couple of weekends ago. Last weekend I did a 1/2 marathon so I am working hard this weekend, but not as hard as I usually work. My hip and butt muscle is still a little cranky...but better. Tomorrow I am going riding with another friend. We are going to ride down the Mimbres River Valley. I will have to take pictures as I have not rode this ride for a while and I am sure I have not taken pictures along this route. Stay tuned!
Be active, safe, and happy!
