Long Ride, WNMU pics..........

Sunday, October 10, 2010

As promised last night, here are the pictures of my long ride. The weather was absolutely to die for! It was totally calm and a wonderful 74 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. The foliage is just beginning to turn and will probably be impressive by next weekend. The ride was 62 miles and went from my house to wildhorse Vista.

Today I went to WNMU to lap swim. I swam 2300 meters in 57 minutes and I am just barely functional! I teach part-time at Western. It is a small college with excellent OT, Nursing, and Education programs. These pictures show the bookstore, parking lot, physical education building, and the new nursing building as well as the sunrise that greeted me. The pictures were taken Friday morning.

I had an active, pleasant day. I finished it off with a long walk with the pups, This last shot is the walk to home.

Here's hoping that you had a pleasant and active weekend also.

I don't do metric, but isn't 62 miles equal to 100K? And I don't see anything that looks like Central Park[which has many charms of its own] in those photos, my dear.

You are somethin' else! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Fall Break

Thursday, October 07, 2010

Next week is fall break. I am excited about some of the things I will get to do.

The weather is beginning to get cooler. I will still get to go for several bike rides and I might even go on a hike or two with a friend.
Of course there are many tourists in the area at this time...posing as "hunters" as it is deer season.
Fall break also gives me an opportunity to get my college First/Aid and CPR class tested.

I can get ready for parent/teacher conferences:
Remember parents, you are sending to school your finest.....
so don't be angry with your child's grades. Help me help them.
I am going to practice leaving my shoes attached to my tri bike and mounting and dismounting.
and I also know I need to go get a new pair of running shoes....

I am going to do a little "light" house cleaning....
in between my exercising,
and
healthy eating.

I also have to do some heavy napping.....to give my body ample recovery time of course.

Yup, gonna stay in town, be safe,
and hang around the casa. You know there is No place like....

Be well and successful emoticon 's!

A New Month

Monday, October 04, 2010

The fiery sunsets of summer will turn into the cooler colors of fall.

I will have to spend a little more time planning my weekend bike outings as the weather starts out cooler and then warms up. Time to start dressing in layers.

Going to bed will become easier as it gets dark earlier.

Hunting season is here and lots of people will be out in the woods so mountain biking will have to wait for a little while.

The dog days of summer will give way to winter pleasures.

The swimming pool will no longer be out of doors. Wet suits are fine but...

I prefer the basic creature comforts when it gets cool:
a nice warm fire after a good snow ball fight.

Plus, I have to start thinking about the holidays. I have to plan my costume for halloween.

and it is never too soon to start thinking about the proper lighting for Christmas.

So while I am thinking, I am training for the Polar Bear Triathlon that will take place on the 4th of December. Basically I have taken the last 2 weeks off so now it is time to get busy.
Stay active and have fun

No more triathlons until next year although I have a duathlon next weekend. Just running events for me. Trying to lose the weight I want to lose before I start Ironman training in the spring!! Will look forward to hearing about your Polar Triathlon!

Do you have to remind me of the colder weather? Right now it's just perfect for me. Even with the overcast cool day today. And I know what you mean about the hunters because it does put a kink in my hiking as I really prefer not to get shot accidentally. I can go out on the Fort Bayard Game Preserve but that only offers so many options before I'm bored with the same trails.
Yep, you've had 2 weeks off. Get moving again!

My Tri- Team (Slick-Silvers) pics.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Here are some more pictures from the Elephant Man Triathlon this past weekend. Claudia and Bob Leonard are the other two members of my team. They are great people! I am the short dumpy one in the middle...LOL!

Claudia, here before the swim, is in the blue and black shortie wet suit. The lady in the pink is over 60 and this was her first open water swim. She had an amazing swim...like she was the 20th person out of the lake and she started in the last group!

Great pics! Looks like it was a lot of fun. Hey, don't call yourself short and dumpy with all you've accomplished!

I saw you yesterday at the Snappy Mart but didn't get to say hi. Was trying to get my car to start. Hopefully next time I run into you I'll get time to say hi.

Have an awesome weekend!

There are no "short, dumpy" triathletes, only short, dumpy actors. A play on a theater cliche, if you don't mind.
