Coming or Going?

Thursday, June 10, 2010

I had one of those days where I could not tell if I was coming or going. I just knew I would run into myself if I worked at it.
I must get a little more organized, all my ducks in a row for tomorrow. I am subbing in the water aerobics class. I think I will leave the belly dancing out It is always fun coming up with a routine for class.
I weighed today for the first time in two months and I am staying about the same. I have worked soooooo hard, I must admit I had a moment of negative thinking...
but thankfully the thoughts did not last long. I also got to spend some time with the kids and the new Wii machine. I am not much into games like these or into fitness videos either. It seems I have three left feet and no thumbs when I try games and videos.

I think I've got the hang of something and then I find I don't quite fit in.

All in all I got nothing much accomplished. I was in situations I am not really comfortable in almost all day. I survived and tomorrow is another day. I promise to plan better, take more time, and accomplish something. I might even reward myself.

Have a great Friday one and all!

I had a Wii and just didn't get much out of it. I have much more fun in an actual dance class than dancing along with some stupid chunk of plastic... I like some of my workout DVDs and I feel like the Wii has a lot of promise and has made a cool new category, but I don't know that it's all there yet, especially for people in good shape.

Sorry to hear that with all your hard work the scale didn't go down BUT perhaps you did gain more muscle? Do your clothes feel any looser? Your pics are as always terrefic. Love them. Yes tomorrow is another day, just as Scarlett O'Hara said many times in Gone With the Wind. emoticondebby

I hope tomorrow is a more comfortable one for you. I hope to do some Wii Fit tomorrow, plus we'll be dancing tomorrow. I'm taking my bike in for a "tune-up" After my knee scope the doctor says I can ride a bike for exercise...

I want a Wii. I want one so I can get a Wii Fit! That would be the only type of at home workout I would like to do. Also dont get discouraged about the weight, Im glad you took a 2 month break on weighing yourself because otherwise your weight could take control of your life.
Well have fun with your new wii and look at purchasing a wii fit!

A Walk for Spanky and I

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Spanky and I set off for a walk in our backyard. There are lots of sights to see:

This is the nest of a cactus wren and the dark in the middle is three baby birds.

The cacti are in full bloom. Here is the road going north by my house..neat clouds and the clouds with the sun to the west just beginning to set.

These yellow blooming plants smell very sweet and Spanky likes to walk under them.

Lots of new growth and the Pinon trees are making new cones which means if we get rain, we will have nuts this year.

Not bad for a backyard. Upon return to the house..I had one tired little warrior and one little Weena ready to go for her walk.

Have a good evening and a great Thursday!

Ohhhh cute puppies!!! I find it amusing that the little dogs can take a walk around the yard and get tired out while my big dog needs to walk quite a ways and still has energy to burn.

Hope you have a great day!

A Day Off

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

What to do, what to do....I don't have to work today so I can step out of my usual routine. I might over plan and get nothing done, however, I have hit the gym and I have done my lifting.
Let's see. I need to do laundry, clean house, water the garden, eat, swim, ride, shop....
I still have not found the perfect sun bonnet!
I need to get my laundry done for sure...but it can wait. I think I'll look at some wildlife photos sent to me by one of my friends..........

Who am I kidding? Some days just bite!

I am tired, haven't recovered fully from the triathlon and work in all of the heat. I am going to take a nap and I will rethink this day when I get up.

Have a great Tuesday!

Thanks for stopping by! A little R&R really helps to get that energy level up to where it needs to be. Congratulations on completing a triathlon! In my book, anybody is a winner and should feel a great sense of accomplishment who has participated and completed one.

Enjoy your day off. You have the whole summer to get to those other things! emoticon emoticon emoticon Oops, can't find an emoticon for swimming!

Milkman Triathlon Pictures

Monday, June 07, 2010

The final results for the Milkman have not been published yet. The timers and cameras probably melted from the heat and humidity! The temperatures ranged between 112 and 115 degrees by finish time.
My swim coach and I arrived the day before the tri in lovely Dexter, New Mexico which is a Dairy Farming area about 15 miles or so from Roswell, New Mexico. The tri takes place at Lake Van.
The area on the right side of the swim finish chute.
The area to the left of the finish chute and where the waves lined up at the beginning of the race.

Each participant places a hand on this dock and waits for the gun shot to signal the start of your wave of swimming.
I was totally freaked out about swimming in the open water. When we arrived the day before....and I looked out at the float line....
I was just about to yell "calf-rope" and come home. We decided to swim the entire course and it was a good decision. Down one side and back on the other.
I panicked a little in the middle of the first side and really had to talk myself into doing this swim. After a minute or so pep talk, we set off again and finally finished the swim.

Here I am at the finish.....damp, cool, content and fairly confidant. If I had not done this swim the day before the tri, the morning of...I would not have done this race.
SO...we did not "win" anything but a coffee mug. Officially, we completed a very difficult sprint triathlon. I won a mental victory by doing an open water swim. Tina's mental victory was finishing the bike portion of the tri. We both got to experience an "Africa hot run" segment and we even enjoyed an ice-cold beer with lunch after the race. SHHHHHHHH--don't tell anyone I had a beer. My first in a year!
Try-athletes rule!!!!!!!!! Get off the couch and get busy fellow Spark People! You'll be glad you did. emoticon

AWESOME!!!!!! Yes, open water swimming is freaky and there is a definite mental component to it. For the 2002 Danskin I trained with members of Rocky Mountain Team Survivor, and we did some open-water swim sessions as part of our training. My first time in the water was scary -- old gravel pit where the bottom dropped to nothing very close to the shore. It was hard to get used to after swimming in a pool and having the bottom right there or at least visible.

And wow...that was hot hot hot!! I cannot imagine doing a race in that kind of heat. Wow.

You did great and I can't wait to hear about your other races this summer. Go girl!!!
