So when I tell those closest to me that I am participating in underwater belly dancing, they are totally shocked...and so am I! It was not too long ago that I would never admit to such a thing...and I am not sure it is a good idea now.
The expression on people's faces is astronomical. But all of you fellow Spark friends...I can't see your faces so I can talk to you about it and not die of embarrassment. I Hope! This is the best website for unveiling new ideas and to admitting to some things...well.......not easy to admit to.
I imagine most of us have a picture that comes to mind when we think of a belly dancer.
Underwater belly dancing is practicing the movements without the usual dress...no bangles, bells, whistles, etc. If you stand with you knees just slightly bent and then pretend someone punched you in the belly real hard...you draw in and tighten everything...this is one of the moves. Also learning to paint the wall, put arms on a shelf behind you, bump and grind...good thing it is underwater...somethings you just don't want to see!
I laughed and had a great time. The poor lady teaching said I have much work to do. Seems I can't stand straight and move to the side from only the middle of my belly up. There are several other things I am not too good at either. It was quite a workout and all my core muscles are not happy.
So if you can picture me as a square..I am as wide as I am tall, and then picture me in the water shaking everything God gave me...and not mistake me for a sea lion having an epileptic fit...you can understand underwater belly dancing.
I give a flower to each of you I disturbed with the picture of a quivering sea lion.
I will try to give you a better description at a later date when I understand more. At least the music is really neat!
As you can see, the pool is not too large but it has a nice shaded area to eat and a nice play ground. Hurley is a small town.
We had lots of different mixes of kids yesterday. We had clowns.... , we had true swimmers and water lovers.........
We had sunbathers as soon as the early morning clouds disappeared............
There were a few customers that came but didn't seem to enjoy water much....
The smaller patrons are catching on!. They ask to get into the pool............
The little gangstas are behaving..............
And....I am enjoying working with all of the kids right now!
As you can tell I am watching the divers and working on my tan!
At the end of a successful day, we all dream and enjoy the view. Tomorrow is another day! Make the most of each day given to you!
I have so much to do in the next four days. I am desperately trying to get it all done.
Where does the time go when you are in a hurry? I have to get all of my clothes packed for the triathlon this next weekend. You have to be prepared for different kinds of weather. I think I have everything, think of something else and then.....
I am concentrating on diet right now simple because I am in the taper period and not exercising much. I really watch calories right now because I do not want to gain weight.
Plus, I am the type of person that can smell food and gain weight...so often I dream about special food.
I also get picky and I get a little cranky too.
I know however, that once I get to the pool where I work and all the little darlings arrive, I will be "part of the gang" and ready to have a lot of fun.
I'll have the kids eating out of my hands in no time at all! Pat and her peeps!
Have a most excellent Tuesday!
A group of us went south on highway 90 towards Lordsburg this morning. The weather was ideal, not windy and not as hot as it has been. It was kind of overcast every now and then and the clouds were gorgeous.
The ride is mostly rolling hills with a couple of really steep hills by the Tyrone Mine.
On the way back to Silver, we stopped for a moment at the Dan Potts Ghost Bike Memorial. He was a local biker that got hit and killed by a woman driving and talking on a cell phone.
Then I drove up main street in Silver City to look at all the flags.
I had a really nice time. I am not as sore as I was and I certainly enjoyed the company.
Keep Sparking Sparkers!
I competed in the Gila Wilderness Run/Walk Yesterday. The event features an 8 mile run, a 5K run and a 5K walk. There are no age groups. The first place male and female in each of the events wins a handpainted, handmade Indian bowl. I won the 5K walk.
The event circles the Ft. Bayard National Cementary and starts at the "old" Fort Bayard hospital. I say old because it is a Historical Monument and a new hospital is being built. Here are a few pictures of the back of the hospital.
The last picture shows the Start/Finish line for the race.
It was a very hot, pleasant race. I met a fellow Spark Person from my home town. She uses the same gym that I do, but until yesterday I have only communicated with her through the computer. She did an outstanding job in the 5K run. Yeah LindaKay!
I was in such a rush to get to work at the Hurley Pool, and since it was opening day...I did not get the promised pictures yet. Next week is another week.
Hope you have good weather, that you are active and use your creativity to accomplish, that you eat right and well and that you keep a song in your heart.
Enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend fellow "Sparkers."
