Does SP work?

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

I was at school one day wasting time in between classes and decided to check in on SP. Another student sitting at a computer behind me happened to see the site I was on. Does that sparkspeople thing really work she asked? I said as a matter of fact it does. I said its like everything else you get out what you put in. She said with a laugh that she too had joined and then never went back. I began to tell her how the people on this site had became not only allies but friends. I thought of how when I first started out how for a few weeks I had really been on the program faithfully, and that how for a time I had kind of slacked off and hadn't really given it my all. The words I spoke to her rang in my head. You get back what you put in. But during all this none of my team mates had once criticized me or put me down. Even though they probably knew I wasn't 100% at times they still stood behind me and excepted me as one of them. I turned back around and told her that if she would log in faithfully and get involved with teams and record her eating and fitness it would definitely work. I have recently gotten a scare that made me not only concerned for my health but also my husbands. He had been told that he had an enlarged heart. Again I went to my sp friends and they were there to support and give encouragement. We are now not messing around we are 100% dedicated to changing our lives and incorporating a healthier life style. Does SP work. My answer would be yes. Because even when your not giving it your all there's people and resources right there ready to help.

Okay I'm a little slow and just noticed you had blogged this. You know it works and you know we all have times that we stink at this, which is why we are here. But the most important thing is that we try again the next minute, hour, day, week, etc and don't give up like we have in the past! Glad your hubby is now on board so that it makes it easier!

I have to agree. The people here make the difference. Without you I'd have given up by now. Keep working towards your goals and dreams.

Going home

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

Tomorrow is our last day here at our daughters house friday we will fly home. I haven't got to exercise while being here this week but I have tried to be careful about my eating. I know I didn't do as good as I have been at home since joining sp but I also haven't strayed too far either for fear of gaining. I dread going home and leaving our daughter and only grandchild behind once again. I will admit though that I'm ready to get back to my new routine of healthy eating and exercise. I found that it was on my mind the whole time I was here. I have enjoyed being here with them but I geuss as much as I hate leaving them its time to get back home.

Your blog is understandable. Family comes first, but now that you are on your way home enjoy the time for you. You'll be able to make that walk 3 times per week and watch the diet closer. Be positive. Good luck.

I'm so elated

Sunday, January 06, 2008

I'm on vacation at my daughters house. My husband and I are elated at the chance to get to spend some time with her and her husband and little boy. Our grandson Luke is the only grandchild we have and not getting to see him more than a couple of times a year is trecherous. But when we do it makes the long flight from Arkansas to here (Maryland) worth every second. For two glorious days now I've got to read him bed time stories and cuddle with him and put him to bed. We've watched him say his prayers and get in the floor with him and play with gargbage trucks, firetrucks, and tractors. Laughed as he sings songs and does the actions he has learned in sunday school and melted when he looks up and says I love you. I haven't got to do much exercise this week and may not untill next week when I'm back home. We will get on a plane friday and fly back home to Arkansas all the while praying that God hurries and opens a way for his daddy to get transfered closer to us. Yeh I'll catch up next week on crunches walks and exercising. But right now I know a two year old that has my full attention. Yep this week is his.

I am so happy for you!! I have grandchildren and I understand the love you feel for him. Mine live within 20 miles of my house so I can't really relate to the distance but I so understand the love and giving him your full attention. Your exercise will be waiting on you when you return. Have a wonderful time and don't worry about anything.

We will be flying out tomorrow to go see our daughter and her family for a week. We are excited about getting to see them. I don't know weather I will be online much for the next week but I will try to log on long enough to weigh in. I hope I can squeeze in some exercise for the week but it will be hard being with her and my grandson and son-in -law because we don't get the pleasure of seeing them but maybe once or twice a year. Excited and alot to do yet to get ready.

No Christmas Gain

Friday, December 28, 2007

It's friday December 28th three days after Christmas and two days after we had our Christmas dinner and actually we had two dinners this week and so far this week I actually lost 1 lb. instead of gaining any weight. I'm so glad. I didn't get to walk or exercise three days this week because of being sick with alergies but today right after getting up I went and walked and I managed to walk five miles before stopping. Not bad considering it was only 39 degrees outside. Now if I can manage not to gain any when we leave on our trip next friday I will be happy. I will be gone a week and it worries me because I don't know if I will have access to walking or not. I'm concerned that just doing exercises won't be enough.
