Gym Time

Thursday, September 02, 2010

Wow! The doctor's have given me a green light to continue my exercises and say that it's okay to go to a gym. My husband and I have joined and are now going together. It's been a rough couple of first two week pains; but it's starting to hurt less, which I think means that we are both getting better. When I was doing the exercises at home, I was the only one doing them. My dear husband would watch me workout; but he never participated. So now that he is actually participating, I'm thrilled. It just makes it so much nicer when your partner shares in things with you. Now perhaps, the pounds will come off easier - at least I'm hoping that they will. We will see..................

Fantastic! Not only are you taking care of yourself, you're getting your husband involved as well!! Hope the gym works out for both of you!

(I just saw that last sentence -- REALLY, there was no pun intended.... )

Holding on

Sunday, July 25, 2010

The roller coaster ride is still going on. The weight is not staying down - lose 1, gain 1, etc; but I'm still holding on. I've moved from stage 2 to stage 3 now.

The cardiologist is pleased with how things are. My BP and cholesterol are doing much better - no more alarms, and I'm sure the weight will follow. I'm still on cholesterol meds and a diuretic for the heart, but no longer need the BP pill (yeah).

The good news is I've been given the green light to join a gym and my husband is joining with me. We will go to the "getting aquainted" events this week and start a program next week. It has been much too hot, and too humid recently for us to go for our normal walks, and I think, that might be why the weight isn't staying off also. But this too will pass, tomorrow is coming, and it will get better, until then I'll keep holding on.

The roller coaster has begun

Saturday, July 10, 2010

I was making great progress, or so I thought. the weight was coming down. Now, it seems I am riding a roller coaster with ups and downs, twists and turns, and even though I personally love roller coasters; I don't like this ride. So, I need to figure out what's happening and then work on correcting it. It might be the new meds that I'm on but I'm not quite sure - I'll see what comes around the next turn, then maybe I can get off this ride.

Getting Better

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

emoticon I had my 1 year follow-up appointment today after open heart surgery. The cadiac surgeon says all is well, and he doesn't need to schedule me for another appointment. I still have a leak in my mytral valve, (which he repaired) but he is not too concerned. I will continue to see the cardioligist, who will do the remaining follow-ups and tests if necessary.
