Shrimp & Steak Skewers meal (with asparagus & potato)

Monday, June 13, 2011

I thought that I would share this:

I have added "Shrimp & Steak" skewers to the family menu this week. (To keep the price of steak down: Wal-Mart has the yellow-tag meat an additional 30% off - you just need to eat it within a couple days - and a bag of frozen shrimp will dethaw quickly under warm water in a strainer in your sink!) Lean Steak gets cut into smaller pieces, and just salt & peppered - put on the skewer. Shrimp gets a "Blackened" seasoning (or Cajun) - 0 calories for the seasoning! - and put on the skewer. Grill for just a couple minutes on each side & your're done! I also take asparagus & drizzle with oil & salt (Kosher salt - larger granules) - and grill next to the skewers - NO CLEAN UP! Idaho potatoes can be forked (holes) and microwaved on a paper towel (again - no clean up!). The meal is healthy, no added sauces, and very tasty. You can also substitute chicken for the steak or shrimp!

Ripped In 30 (my new workout)

Sunday, May 01, 2011

I discovered the new Jillian Michaels (from Biggest Loser) dvd: "Ripped in 30". It's a good workout, takes under 30 minutes to do, and I lost 2 pounds this past week - which is good considering I have now met my goal. Just wanted to share this, if you're looking for a switch-up for your workout. It offers a new workout each week for 4 weeks. (Although I plan to continue the cycle with heavier weights: 5 lbs to 8 lbs.) I purchased mine at Wal-Mart (exercise section) for $9.97. I'm excited to see what tomorrow's workout is - I'm starting Week 2.

It's always good to switch it up. I really like Zumba right now, but I also tried a Body Tone class last week. I liked it also, but want to try to find my rythym at Zumba before I tackle Body Toning.

Great Job! emoticon

All I want is a little of the Good Life...

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

I'm listening to "Good Life" by Three Days Grace on the way home from work yesterday - and it got me thinking. I am able to work (physically and mentally), and am fortunate enough to have a good job in this economy; I have a home, and love where I live; I have a husband who loves me, and works hard for the Family; I have a son who loves me, is a 'good kid', gets good grades, and enjoys life as a child - thinking about all of this, I am realizing that I HAVE the Good Life. We may not be overly wealthy, but we have a Good life. Going into this Lenten Season, I am thankful for all that I have.

Weekly Workout Schedule: 03/06/11 - 03/13/11

Monday, March 07, 2011

I am posting my weekly workout schedule, as I 'schedule' my workouts to make sure that I fit them into my week. Here it is for this week:

Sunday - rest (errands, laundry, house cleaning, etc)
Monday - Turbo Fire "Fire 30" (am), Body Pump (group strength training) (pm)
Tuesday - Turbo Fire "Fire 45" (am)
Wednesday - Turbo Fire "HIIT 20" (am), Zumba (pm)
Thursday - Turbo Fire "Fire 30" (am), Recumbent Bike (pm)
Friday - Turbo Fire "HIIT 20" (am), Body Pump (pm)
Saturday - Turbo Fire "Fire 45"

I also promise myself to eat healthy foods, and use portion control. If I do not commit to both exercise and a healthy diet, I will not achieve the results that I desire.

I saw a turbo fire infomercial this morning. I have to work up to that level. You are smart to do the am/pm workouts. It makes a difference.
