My Morning Walk

Friday, April 11, 2014

It's happened, I've gotten myself into a bit of a routine, and it's a good one. I've started walking every morning, and I'm really enjoying it. I like to go early morning, before it gets hot. I go through our neighbourhood, up to the main road, and then back home. The whole route is about 2 1/4 miles. Our little town only has one main road, and it is the only paved road. The rest are cobblestone. I took a few pics of the route I walk, to share:

This is the road behind us, and you can see the sun just starting to peek through.

Half way through my walk, I go up this road to the main street.

This is the main road in town. I love the mountains!

This is just coming into my neighbourhood

This is our street.

Finally, this is our little family in the backyard.

I'm really enjoying getting back to walking. Thank you for letting me share with you.

Wishing you all a wonderful, joy filled day!

87 Years Young

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

Today my Mom celebrated her 87th birthday. She is the most kind hearted person I have ever met, and is always my inspiration. Even at this stage of my life, she is always there, encouraging me in whatever I do.

She is a huge part in my wanting to take better care of myself. If I want to make it to 87, I have to be healthier, and I know I can do it!!

Wishing you all a wonderful, joy filled day!

Positive Attitude

Tuesday, April 01, 2014

Here we are at the first of April, and 2 weeks since I came back to SP. For the first time since I started, I stepped on the scales. After 2 weeks, I'm down a whole 1/2 pound. I am so disappointed with this. I have tracked my food, stayed within my limits, started exercising, everything I'm supposed to be doing.

On the upside, I'm starting to feel better. I get out of bed feeling much more energized. I guess I just have to keep reminding myself that my weight is only a number, and it will eventually go down.

I've decided to set some goals for April. As I was trying to figure out how to set up goals that were realistic, yet attainable (no easy task), I came across the following:

I am going to post this in both my office and the kitchen as a constant reminder of what I should be doing. I will read it every day, I will keep a positive attitude, and I will do this!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful, joy filled day!

Girl take that 1/2 pound and treasure it. If you loose 1/2 lb for the next 4 months that's 8lbs. I been here just over a year and I did great at first I lost like 15lbs and then.....like I am now like back to square 1 - all 15 back on. I've lost 4lbs recently and this week's weigh in was 0. I had to get radical to lose the lbs. But you got a plan - gotta work it.

That's right. The scale is only ONE weigh of measuring your progress. You have more energy. That, to me, is a huge NSV. That's the first one I experienced when I started this journey. It never gets old!

Keep up the good work.

I've had the same issue last week but don't let it get to you, just keep on eating clean and exercising and as you said your weight will drop eventually !

The key is to stay positive and not think about the numbers. In the challenge I did in the winter, I realized that losing the lbs. was the least of my successes. Find the success in being consistent - tracking my nutrition, exercising at least 30 mins. everyday, participating in the challenge's threads - was what worked for me.

Good luck! We all know you can do it. Do you?

A 1/2 lb. gone is better than one gained. Your body may just need time to adjust to the changes you have made, so please be patient and keep doing all the right things and it'll happen.

I am not losing fast either. Two things. 1. If we are eating healthy they can't take the nutrients away, and 2. If we are exercising they can't take those health benefits away. Sounds like your head is in a really good place.

My New Walking Partner

Sunday, March 30, 2014

This morning, I went for an early walk (before it gets too hot), and my grandson came along.

I think I have the most handsome walking partner!! We had a great chat as we walked. He talked about school and his friends. Some good things, and a couple of problems that I think we came up with solutions for.

After an hour of walking, we came to the ice cream shop, where he convinced my to buy him some. I got him one scoop, and I sat and drank my water.

I'd like to say I'm proud of my self control, but in all honesty, I only brought enough money for one! It works for me!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful, joy filled day!

Nothing better than some grandma time, and I'd say you did have great self control by only bringing enough money to buy one helping for one person. Wishing you a great week.

Friday - Busy Day

Friday, March 28, 2014

I have a really busy day planned. The grandson has no school today, so we're busy finishing off a project that's due on Monday. This afternoon, we're taking him and a couple of friends to the water park. While they're busy playing on the water slides, I'll be able to get in a good swim. (one of my favorite exercises)
Later, we drop the boys off for a sleep over. That means me and hubby have a date night.

We're going out for dinner, so I'm going to have to think smart when I order. That's always a hard one for me, but I am determined!! So far this week, I have been able to stay within my nutritional range, and I don't want to mess that up!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

I hope you had much success when eating out. I know for this gal doing so is filled with temptations. That is one reason I don't like eating out.

God bless!
