I hope everyone is doing great! I have just been busy lately - I'm glad summer is rolling around and 'comfort food' is being pushed aside for salads ;) I need to get back in the 'eating right' game - I have just been ecstatic with my results from these wraps!

In other news... I'm baaaack to wearing shorts this year with NO FEAR! ;) Ok, maybe only a liiittle, but I'm doing it and just not caring and I'm done being self conscious about it!

Finally under prepregnancy weight!

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

After seeing 150 on the scale for what seemed like forever, I have finally broke through! That was what I weighed when I found out I was pregnant and I started keeping track. I was down to 140.something before I started slacking off before becoming pregnant though, so I am still pushing to get down to 135.
The thing that is different for me is that I really need to start toning up my stomach, it is really loose, no muscle at all, and it's all around in my 'muffin top' area and into my upper thighs. The problem is that I just do NOT feel like working out. I have started doing crunches, and I found this blog on pinterest for 300 abs for 30 days, which is basically the AbRipperX from P90X, but those moves are so hard for me, they don't even hurt my stomach, they hurt my legs and back, because I can't do the moves right since I have no muscle to work with in my stomach. It's that bad! :(
Hopefully someday the 'workout bug' will attack again and I will get motivated like I have done with my eating. I am a true believer in that it just 'has to click' for me to give me that kick in the ass to get me going! Once I'm ready, i'm ready!

In other news, FITBECKSRN wrote her blog today and talked about new jeans she discovered from Express that were a perfect fit for 'mom jeans'.. I know I shouldn't be shopping at the teenybopper stores anymore, but my problem is that I can't seem to find 'cool jeans' that are a 'mom fit', meaning my gut doesn't hang over them, and my asscrack doesn't hang out when I bend over.. haha. So my question for you is: Have you found the perfect jean post-kids? That still look in style and not 'old-ladyish'??

canīt answer that question as i donīt wear jeans period, lol.re the exercise though all i can say is FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT:in other words just do it weather you feel like it or not(like you do getting up,washing teeth etc)just do it and maybe later or even during the exercise the will to do it might come back.hope this helps.take care and keep smiling and above all.keep on keeping on.by the way way to go on reaching under prepregnancy weight. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

So happy for you! I am "almost" there with the prepregancy weight, but not quite! My stomach is terrible too, and I have no muscle there at all, especially after the c-sections my lower stomach is AWFUL! I have no advice on how to help you there but if you figure it out let me know! As far as the jeans, I've found that the Pioneer Fit for Silver jeans work best with my body type (skinny legs and a muffin top). It seems like they are cut a wee bit higher than most and that holds in my muffin top (granted I have to pull them up here or there), but not as bad as some others out there! :)

Do you have diastasis? After my first baby, I did Sahrmann Exercises to get my ab muscles to knit back together before trying the ab workouts I had done in the past. If your muscles are still separated, regular workouts can actually make it worse. Just google Sahrmann exercises, and there are a ton of exercises and You-Tube videos to help. Good luck!

Banana Republic or Lmited are my go-to stores for clothes that fit like they should on an adult (no but hanging out in back or tummy hanging out in front) withouth being matronly. I buy almost all of my work clothes at Limited and buy the rest at Banana where I also get my weekend clothes. I don't stray too much from these stores except when I go to the outlets and splurge on clothes at Saks off 5th or Michael Kors (love their jeans also). Good luck finidng your "non-mom" jeans!

Take Shape for Life is going great!

Friday, August 24, 2012

So a few of you have been asking how I am doing, and what I am doing, so I will fill you in a little bit.

I'm doing the plan Take Shape for Life (by Medifast). www.kathyclose.tsfl.com
To read more about it click on 'how it works' and you can also click on 'downloads' to read the quickstart, that will really help anyone interested in learning more.

Basically you pay for your food through them, they provide you with 5 meals a day, and you provide a 6th meal of a 'lean and green' consisting of 3 servings of vegetables and 5-7 oz of lean protein.
It has been going really well for me and I really am never hungry! A bit gassy the first few days while my body is adjusting to the soy protein that is in the meals, but I feel much better! Not to mention I am down 6.4 lbs in 5 days... emoticon

I will load a few pictures of what I have eaten, but it's not everything, just some that I have thought to take pictures of..

There are pancakes, soups, chili, sloppy joes, cereal, pudding, ice cream, etc! Lots of foods to choose from.. It's very convenient for my hectic life :)

**Just FYI. This plan also has a transition phase, where you incorporate less and less of their food to switch you over into maintanence. They have a book that teaches you about the healthy habits of life. I am not writing this blog to get opinions of what I should and shouldn't be doing. This is what is working GREAT for me right now, and I know that it's not a lifelong plan (although I might still buy some of the food for snacks, they are good and full of protein!) but it fits my life right now! This is a blog just for people to read that were interested in learning more about the program, not for criticisms. :) Thanks! :)

we have something similar that has just started over here in germany called diet chef.there are 3 menu options 1,200 cal,1500 cal and 1800 cal.then there is a list of foods for each meal and two snacks in each calorie range which you pick one of each section a day for a fortnight and they bring it too you.it sounds and looks good but abit out of my price range.the food is supposed to be made by proper chefs and all fresh.glad it is working for you. emoticon

Way to go!!! That's awesome :) And I agree, it works for hectic lifestyles.

As for EOWYN2424's comment, she's right - you do have to learn to fix healthy food for yourself and that's what the Lean & Green is all about, otherwise, they'd just have you eat 6 meal replacements. BUT, while you're in weight LOSS mode, the convenient meal replacements give you the nutrition you need and they are so simple, no tracking, no counting calories or carbs, or protein. Simple, fast, convenient for someone who's constantly on the go.

Put it this way, if you didn't have the meal replacements and you had to fix healthy food for each meal/snack, would you stick to it? Sure, for a while - we all do - but then hectic life takes over again. This just makes life (and losing weight and getting healthy) a bit easier and IT WORKS!

Have a great day - you're doing awesome!

Yes, this plan also has a transition phase to help you learn to maintain, and you can get a book that teaches you Healthy Habits of life, I know how to fix healthy food for myself, but this is what is working for me right now. It's not a plan for everyone, but it's working for me and fits into my busy schedule. :)

But you still need to learn to fix healthy food yourself for the long term.

Back on track starting Monday! Take shape for life!

Saturday, August 18, 2012

So I'm pretty excited to get going on this plan.. My mom has done amazing so far and I really just want to kick this weight to the curb and being MAINTAINING! Something I have never done on this yo-yo diet lifestyle of mine. It's frustrating I feel like I never get to my goal weight and I start gaining and not paying attention to the scale and over-indulging.. Not this time! I know how to maintain. I have done it when I get in plateaus. And when I get in plateaus it is usually because I stop eating good on the weekends. I eat good all week and then I get out of hand on the weekends, restarting on Monday. And so I know that at least I will be able to have my slight indulgences once in awhile, and stay at my maintained weight. PLUS they also have a transition/maintanence program to help you transition back to 'normal' foods. I am READY!

So Take Shape for Life is by Medifast, they provide the foods, you provide a "Lean and Green" and eat some protein and vegetables. Eating every 2-3 hours. This is great for me because THEY chose the food for me. I'm not great at making choices with my food on my own. I don't have time to cook dinner, that's up to my husband. So this plan will fit in perfectly with my work schedule and my life. I will eat dinner at the table with my family, but might not have the not-so-healthy and over processed food that they might be having due to my DH not really having the time or experience in the kitchen to make healthy meals. If I would be able to get home earlier than 630 pm it might be a little easier on us to eat healthy dinners..

I will keep you posted on how I do, and in the meantime if you are interested in learning more just head on over to www.kathyclose.tsfl.com and click on "How it Works".

SOOOO anyway other than that, things have moved forward a lot more with my leg! I now wear the metal bar leg out in public, and I got a sleeve cover for my leg instead of getting it painted. I found a website where I could get a custom cover made with the design of my choice.. My dad will be painting the metal bar a 'color shifting' color- it will change from purple to green to blue depending on the light. So I have come so far this summer.. From never wearing shorts, to wearing shorts but feeling like I should just go for it and wear a metal bar leg, to going BOLD with this cover and basically screaming 'LOOK AT ME!!!' Haha!

Love the new leg and confidence! Your rock emoticon

I totally understand the not having time to cook thing but there are ways around it where you and your family can all eat the SAME healthy meal together. I work 10 hour days M-Th and my husband doesn't get home till 6:30-7 so it is up to me to get dinner on the table after a long day while taking care of my (needy) 18 mo old. I found the only way I could do this was with a lot of prep!

plan: I create a weekly meal plan every week before I go to the grocery store on Friday to make sure I have all the ingredients I need. Friday & Saturday dinner are easy because my husband is home to help watch my daughter while I cook and I can starte early. Sunday is my "prep" day. I spend my daughter's nap time prepping all the food I will need for dinners during the week. I chop all the vegetables I will need for meals and put them in their own tupperware containers (including grating fresh ginger, mincing garlic, etc.). I then precook anything that I can (sautee onions or other vegetables that are part of the main dish and maybe even cook rice). This way I only have to do the prep dishes once (yay) and then during the week I just pull out all of the ingredients, put them together, and voila I have dinner! I also don't make anything that takes more than 30 minutes to cook and always have at least one but usually two really easy cooking days (15 min or less) in case I just don't feel like doing much one night.

Good luck with Take Shape for Life and I hope you get to your happy maintenace weight emoticon

I should tell my mom about that program...she really needs to lose weight. She is really struggling (over 100 pounds over weight) and is in so much back and knee pain from the extra weight and being older. I will see how you do on it!

I wouldn't worry about wearing shorts or a skirt. Most of my life I hid my hearing aids behind my hair, now I'm just like "hey it helps me hear so either you like it or ya don't", long as I am okay with it, thats all that matters.

Tuesday Food eats

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Getting back on track today! tomorrow is our final weigh in for our BLC challenge, and I know I didn't make my 10 lb goal... but hopefully I will be somewhat closer!

Chocolate PB oats with banana!

Tomorrow, I am hoping to make a different breakfast!

Lunch I had a salad, some cottage cheese, a thing of minute rice (brown and wild rice), and a hardboiled egg white

(no eggwhite pic)

I had a handful of pretzels..

a handful of chocolates.... oops!

Dinner I had a yogurt with cinnamon

and I had given Lilah some pieces of a poptart and I ended up eating the majority of it.. :(

So some bad things here and there, and I didn't strictly stick to my 'no carbs after lunch' thing, but I am blaming it on the fact that TOM is just around the corner... emoticon

The next few days might be a little busy for me - we are going on vacation and leaving Friday but I really have to start packing because with 2 kids we've got a lot of stuff to take!
Take 'er easy Sparkies! :)
