2-mile run

I ran 2 miles today and I only stopped at the cross walk while cars were going by. I ran 2 miles without the need to stop!!!! I feel like my feet have wings tonight.

I got a free app for my phone - Nike+running app. It documented my run. I ran:

2:08 miles
12:22/per mile
25:49 total

I can run a 12 min mile!!!! My 7th grade son runs an 8 min mile for cross country. I'm not too far behind!!!!!! I love this new app. Now I'll really be able to track my progress.

5K training is still going well. I'm not buying soda for the house anymore. I will drink one at work - one 7.5 oz can of coke. My head hurt a lot at the beginning of the week, but isn't bothering me as much now. It's just something that I KNOW I will not give up, so limiting it, is the way I need to go. There might come a time when I don't even want the one at work. We'll see.

In the 5K training group we are running 6 min/ walking 2 min and repeating 3x. Yesterdays workout was really good. I didn't have to struggle with my breath..which meant that I could focus on other areas like my legs and feet. Sore! But I think that's better than feeling like you can't get enough oxygen.

Keeping it up. Every small bit helps. Every time I get out there and run, it makes me stronger!!!!

5K training and 30-year reunion

Yesterday was the first day of training for the 5K program. We are given workouts to do and then we meet every Saturday morning for a group run. Yesterday was a walking day and today was 4 min run/2 min walk x3 sets. I was able to run the 4 min. without stopping. I was happy about that. Although, I felt VERY sluggish. I waited until 8:15 pm to exercise, and I had fallen asleep for 15 minutes before hand. Not a good way to exercise.

My 30th high school reunion was on Saturday - Class of 1984. It was so much fun!!! I don't like the pictures of me, but we all had a blast. I was on the planning committee it was nice to see a reward for all our efforts. EVERYONE had a great time!!!!!!!

5K training

My 7th grade son runs cross country. Every time I go to pick him up, I think, "I wish there was a coach for adults." Today, when I opened the mail, their was a catalog from our local community center and guess what...there is a class for 5K training. It starts on Monday and runs for six weeks and ends with a 5K run at Purdue University. How could I pass that up? Just what I asked for!!!

I also ordered something called the Body Blade off of QVC. They made it look really good. I'm going to exercise with that as well, just as soon as it comes in. I've also heard that it's good for shoulder therapy. I need that. This summer I had a frozen shoulder and it was very painful. I think I hold stress in my neck and shoulders. I've got a very tight neck right now. My 30th High School reunion is on Saturday, and I'm starting to feel the stress!!!!! emoticon

I walked with my neighbor today and then later in the evening, I walked to the store!! Every little thing helps! I'm logging in every day and I'm adding food - for breakfast and lunch. I need to add all day long. Maybe that will be my next step.
