Trying to get to the place where you add a blog entry is SUCH a pain. I'll be blogging my fitness at . I just don't have the time to sit and click and try to figure out where they hid the blog button.

I had a blog entry all thought out, but lost it in my annoyance at the bad design.

I'm happy to report that I'm back at it-- motivated to go for another 20 pounds or so. I've cut out pop and have ramped up salad intake and my exercise.

My current exercise plans are pre-training for the Austin half. Right now, I'm just trying to get my running base back after taking a couple of months off due to extreme heat. I'm run/walking every other day with my black dog. These are short runs because the heat is way too hard on her, even though we run after dark.

I'm walking the dogs a mile and a half on non-running days. I've also collected a bunch of hula hoops, so I try to take three or or four hooping breaks while I'm working. We also acquired an Xbox Kinect, so I'm playing with Zumba, Dance Central, and Kinect Adventures. (And rock band.) Trying for more active play.

As usual, I'm having trouble getting enough calories. It's a challenge. It's easy to eat too much junk, but I'm trying to avoid junk. I'm going to add in at least one smoothie a day, to try to get my calories up in a very healthy way. I'm also going to add beans to my salads.

It's good to be back!

I really hope this isn't the nasty cold-->bronchitis/pneumonia thing several of my friends have had in the past few months.

It's getting old.

I'm antsy to run. I'm going to try a quick, short run tomorrow morning before heading to a birthday party in Kansas. I know I don't have to worry about overeating-- I'll likely be the only vegan there-- but I'm bring hummus (YUM!), chips, and a veggie tray.

Oh, my Dad is now on SP!! Welcome, Dad!

    Ugh. I'm sorry that your cough still isn't going away. I'm sure you're taking care of yourself, but make sure to get enough liquids/sleep! Hope it clears up soon.

Coughing Run

Did a short run today (Wednesday) mostly because Blackie the dog needed it! My son and I went to the Capitol and back. He biked and I ran. Despite my cough, I got to the Capitol 30 seconds faster than I ever had. I walked back, though.

If I feel up to it tomorrow, I'm going to do the same run with Blackie. I'm trying to push myself just a little bit harder on my runs. One thing I learned in my DNF is that I can currently run 10 miles at a consistent 12-minute/mile pace. Not bad for being 20-30 pounds overweight and only training three months, I think. Especially since my brother got all the running talent in the family and at this point, I'm just grateful I CAN run! But I do need to push it a bit more on some of my runs.

My toe doesn't hurt any more, although it's many attractive shades of black and gray. I just want it to hang in there until after Green Bay!


Sick. Yuck.

I'm antsy to get running again, but I'm sick. Last week, we all got the cold that seems to be going around. Mostly a sore throat and coughing, but for me, between my asthma and my lowered immunity from the marathon attempt, I'm trying to be careful. I'm hoping to start running again Wednesday, if I've stopped coughing by then. It didn't help that this weekend I stayed at a local "resort," where I was helping with a presentation. The place was so nasty. Both my roommate and I woke up early in the morning because we couldn't breathe. (Plus, there were no soy lattes within six miles of the place. If I can't get a soy latte, it ain't a resort!) I did discover two flavors of granola bars that are uninentionally vegan, so I lived on those during the weekend.

My toe seems to be hurting less... I'm just getting a weird pressure. I'll probably use medical tape just so it doesn't rip off while I'm running.

Food tracking has informed me that I am definitely not eating enough. I have to get those books!

    Hope you feel better soon! If you are too sick to train, maybe put on some motivational music & visualize to keep you from getting too antsy. Take care!
