The weather is finally cooling down!

It is official, heard it on the news this morning while driving to work, it was the HOTTEST March on record!

Luckily the garden has survived with DH and I here to nurse it through with hand watering. We are allowed to have our sprinklers on twice a week. But as you can imagine with continuous temperatures in the 38 - 40 range we need to give extra water.

I am dreading the power bill, as the airconditioner has been on nonstop for quite a while. Hopefully we can turn it off for good soon, that is till next summer! emoticon

I am on my last week at the clinic that I am covering for my colleague, I was hoping to get some of the cupboards sorted while she was gone, but not sure if I will have time.

Am doing OK with nutrition, exercise is not as consistent as I would like but am not sleeping well with these warm nights so that impacts on how much exercise I do. This morning I managed to do the 15min abs workout as well as walk Sooty around the park. I have stopped running as my right knee is twinging! emoticon

Hope you are all managing some exercise and eating healthy foods. I had blueberries with my protein shake this morning and it tasted yummy emoticon

Have a pretty busy schedule the next 2 weeks. A Breastfeeding Conference all day Saturday. Sunday I must finish off my job application. I have had 2 wonderful people help me out with it so need to do the finishing touches to it, and then send!

Also going out to dinner twice during the week nights , and Party Light Candle Party on Friday . I will have to be careful there as my friend always has yummy food. I will make sure I have a good dinner before I go so I won't be tempted!

    You are so busy! I'm so happy that the heat has broken down here, I hope it stays this way. Our electric bill was VERY unpleasant, and about 3x the normal amount! Ouch! You're doing a great job staying active and healthy :)

    Glad you managed to survive all that extreme heat, but as you say, you might need to be sitting down when that power bill comes!! Take care with that knee, you are doing well to get out for a walk with Sooty, and enjoy the party, Libby.

    It's official, we broke an all time temperature for a high of 12 celsius here! Just on Saturday. It was great.

I wouldn't want your power bill. I think mine is high enough, (our lights are on more during the winter of course). We don't have air conditioning for our house. Very little houses in our town have air conditioning.

I knew that you were going to busy for a while since you got changed up there a bit. Good that you're getting out there and doing some walking with Sooty. Don't hurt your knee though.

As for the party lite party you're going to...pay attention to the display more than the food. Oh, yeah and the ordering book and the talking... emoticon

    Our weather is heating up naturally though most folks outside of Canada would consider 39F 4 C cold lol. Glad its easing a bit for you. I would find it very difficult to do any exercise in that kind of heat. Its far easier when its cold!!
As long as you keep on top of the food, the limited exercising will be okay.. Enjoy your party!! My absolute favorite is blueberries, I always have that in my shake too, and usually strawberries when in season and always a banana. Just plain yummy!
I have a St. patrick's Day celebration I will be going out for this Saturday...

One thing good about working full time is the happy feeling that a weekend is coming up! emoticon

Managed to jog all the way around the park without stopping! Then came home and did the 6 minute Butt workout! I still can't quite do all of it! It looks so easy when you watch the video, but when you get on all four's and start , it gets hard! emoticon

Work was a bit chaotic, but I love seeing all the babies! And their parents of course! emoticon

Am off to bed soon and looking forward to a day of some shopping with DH for some clothes for him and a new printer as ours has gone on the blink and will cost too much to fix!

We are going to have 3 days over 100 F or 39 C so staying out of the heat will be number one priority! emoticon

    I really don't envy you about that heat wave. Wow. I know during our short summer, we get heat like that once and while and I hate it. I had heat exhaustion once and since then, I really can't handle the heat. I suppose being over weight doesn't help the body to cope with that either. I'm not sure.

Have a good weekend shopping with DH and getting that printer. They do come in handy don't they?

Yes , me running! emoticon

As a teenager I hated sports! emoticon I wore glasses, was uncoordinated and hated being out of breath! emoticon

I also had bigger than average mammary glands and that was NO FUN! emoticon

So I learnt to avoid physical education sessions by either needing to go to the "dentist" , like hello, who "volunteers" to go to the dentist! emoticon Yes me! Or I would have a headache or be that time of the month ! AGAIN! emoticon

Once I moved into adult hood, I was too busy working shift work in the hospital while doing my nursing training. I walked a lot along those long wards and my weight was the best it had ever been.

I have always loved walking. emoticon emoticon Give me a mountain to climb and I will do it! emoticon Ask me to run and I would find all sorts of reasons of why I could not run, the biggest issue was getting the stitch!

So here we are in 2012, and thanks to Sparkpeople and all my wonderful Sparkfriends I have gradually learnt to ENJOY RUNNING!

I breath properly so I don't get the stitch, I don't try and break any world records, I am running for me! emoticon

It started a little 2years ago when I joined to c25K team and trained to do a 5km run. Then I got the foot injury which really messed with me for quite a while. I was so scared of injuring my foot again I left that plan alone.

Then my foot finally recovered and I signed up and did the 5km Fun Run in Perth last May and I was shocked at my time of 44minutes and 17 seconds!

So here we are now in Match of 2012 and after doing 2 months of Sparkpeople Challenges I feel a need to do something challenging out in the fresh air again. emoticon

So yesterday morning I was doing my usual walk around the park with Sooty and I decided to just do a slow jog and see how far I could go before I became too puffed out to continue.

Guess what emoticonI nearly made it all the way around, which is 1 km! So this morning I tried again and only had a short walk and all the rest was running! emoticon

So my challenge to myself is to slowly increase the distance I run and walk and go around the park twice by the end of next week and by the end of March be able to walk/run the whole 5 km.

There are some organised walk/runs coming up soon so am looking at entering again. I really loved the sense of a whole group of people heading out together.

emoticon so that is the cardio challenge and I will do some strength training as well. Probably Sparkpeople videos of my choosing! emoticon

The number's on the scales are looking good, down another kg which is 2.2 lb! emoticon emoticon 68.8kgs this morning! It has been a LONG time since I have seen those numbers. I have to look a couple of times as I am not used to that number 6 being there! emoticon

I never volunteered to go to the dentist, but it was amazing how often TOM showed up when I was in gym class - especially gymnastics!

I am a machine! emoticon

For the last 2 months I have managed to stick with something from start to finish. emoticon

First it was the January Challenge. This introduced me to the wide variety of Sparkpeople exercise videos. I had been doing some of them but it was so easy to have some one else do the planning of what video to do each day. emoticon

The 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge used a different set of videos all targeting different areas of the body over the week. Then as the weeks progressed we were asked to up the pace, so that by the time we reached week 4 we had to choose 3 videos that we were going to repeat.

We also had to do 30 mins of cardio at least 5 times a week! We were allowed to do it in 3 lots of 10 mins if we chose to. Some times that was the only way I was going to get the cardio in!

This morning I chose to jog around the park and managed the whole km without stopping. emoticon It was a great way to warm up for the videos! Sooty kept up with me!

I haven't decided what to do as the next challenge but it will be something along the same lines as to what I have been doing as I can manage to fit that into my busy days.

Yes I am working, but it is on short term contract. Because I resigned , I have to go through the whole process to get onto the employment pool to then put my hand up if a permanent position comes up. emoticon

DH has now been for 2 interviews for 2 different company's and both want to do 2nd round interviews! This is normal practice for senior positions. He feels that both the interviews went well. So we play the waiting game!

Well that is all from me for now, off to bed I go ! emoticon

Hard to believe it is Thursday tomorrow!

Back to work after a long weekend. Didn't end up going anywhere as it was over 100 degrees F. Just Stayed home in the comfort of air conditioning.Managed to catch up on all the washing and ironing dh hung out a few loads. Did some filing and sorting in the office:-)

Dh went for another interview today. He says it went well. Still waiting to hear from the other company who said they wanted a 2nd interview.

My application is ready to go,just having it checked by a couple of experts. If. it gets thr all clear I will e-mail it off within the next few days.
Hope you are all having an active week. Getting the cardio and strength training in.

I have gone to bed and doing this on my phone. So I had better turn out the ligjt and get some sleep. Bye.xoxo
