Entry Card for DIY Challenge.
My challenge name: Lusciouslibby
My starting weight: 70.5kgs
4 other things I will be measuring during this challenge and their current status:
waist 89cms or 35 inches
hips 98cms or 38.5 inches
boobies 105cms or 41 inches
Left wrist 17cms or 7 inches
If I am going to be 100% honest with myself the reason I am doing this challenge is because I am going to be travelling all over the world in the next 4 weeks and need to keep on track! What better way than to "put it out there". I don't see travelling as an excuse to go off track, and I am looking forward to my first committed healthy holiday!
I feel like the reason I have not been progressing as well as I hoped I would is because I find reasons to not work at my fitness in a consistent way, not enough sleep, sinus headaches, blah, blah!
This time I am committed to finish this challenge because I know that I have a wonderful life ahead of me and I want to be healthy and sexy at sixty which is in 2 years time!
This time I am committed to finish this challenge is because I am scared of developing Diabetes Type 2 and all the ramifications of that!
This time I am committed to finish this challenge because I want to get back my sexy me!
But I have faith in Science
THIS TIME I will NOT quit, because THIS TIME my 5 top non-health related motivations are \
To wear a bikini.
To wear size 10 Aus. size non stretch jeans, without a MUFFIN top!
To have family and friends want to join Sparkpeople because of how well I have done.
To walk tall and love who I see in the mirror.
Just feel sexy!
The best way to motivate me is to be honest if I am not cutting to the chase!
The best way I can motivate myself is to have a plan for each day. Make use of the hotel gym every morning to do strength training. Walk, walk and walk. Stay in control of portions and do positive self talking everyday. Let my DH know of my plan so he can support me.
My name is Libby and I will do this !

Can't believe that I haven't blogged since Wednesday!
Well I can actually, I have been busy and tired.
Came back from a wonderful day out on Thursday and laid on the bed as I was feeling a bit weary and woke up at 9pm! Still managed to sleep all night after having a late dinner with DH!
So back to "Tracking" and why do we do it?
I saw a Message Board Thread today as you do when looking around your page seeing what the latest message board topics are! The topic being "I hate tracking....please help" caught my attention so I went onto the thread and read a large majority of the answers, some very simple, some in great detail about how and when to measure food. It had me thinking about what sort of message was I going to add to this thread for this Spark person who was struggling with tracking.
I didn't track dinner on Thursday as I was too tired. I kept telling myself yesterday to stop tracking and just eat sensibly. This is because I am going on a trip for a month and wasn't sure how much I needed or wanted to "track" my nutrition.
Yesterday afternoon I was tracking again as I knew I was going out to dinner to a friends home and I knew the food would be at the high calorie end as we were going to have a traditional Texan meal of meat and cheese tortillas, rice and beans. I knew there would be hot sauce and chips for "eats" and wine.
I had decided before I went that I would enjoy the meal and track it later to just keep myself accountable.
After I finished tracking, I was about to add a note to say how surprised I was that I had come in at calorie range and then I remembered the 2 extra flour tortillas I had!
OH! and as I am writing this blog I have just remembered the blueberry juice drink I had!
So why do we track?
TO KEEP US ON TRACK!
I can see from just those extra flour tortillas and the blueberry drink that I went way over my calorie intake for yesterday. I t means that I can reflect on what I can do to "repair" my body from such a high calorie intake the day before.
So what is the alternative to NOT tracking?
Maybe I would over time see weight gain and give up because I THOUGHT I was eating within calorie range.
I am not sure and have no intention of finding out!
So my challenge while I am on holidays is to keep a small note book with me and write down all the food I consume and when I am able to, I will track on Sparkpeople. I will have the laptop with me so hopefully it will be an easy thing to do at the end of each day.
I tracked what I was eating while on the cruise so I think I will manage OK.
When I track I am more conscious of WHAT I am eating.
When I track I am more conscious of HOW MUCH I am eating.
When I track I keep to HEALTHY foods as they are easier to track.
With the help of Sparkpeople and the new tracking tool it is MUCH easier to track than ever before! And it is FREE!
So today is a day of drinking lots of water
Eating fresh fruit ,vegetables, nuts and meat!
My energy levels are back from this sinus issue I have had, on and off, all week, so will go down to the gym and get in some walking and then do the Strength Training I was scheduled to do yesterday.
And then I will come back and track that as well!
So why do you track?
I look forward to your answers!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Thanks for all the comments re the "belly fat" blog. So after a very active day on Monday ie. 60 mins walking/jogging and then 20mins Strength Training, I was very tired yesterday. Also had a sinus headache, but managed to clean out the 'fridge! So that made me feel OK about achieving something. Am slowly emptying out the pantry and kitchen of our belongings and placing them on the spare beds so we are ready for the packers!
The representative for the packing company came last night and we have another 3 sets of forms to get filled out and notarized! This is so we can leave our rented apartment! So that our goods can leave the country! And so we can leave the country! Seeing that we don't pay any of the utilities or rent I don't see it as an issue!
Any way DH and the company's rep will work it all out. I will just do the hand wringing! Still no date for the packer's but have been informed that they are busy and may have to come in the evening.
Our trip is all booked but still waiting for the banks to exchange funds! So am also hand wringing as I am now getting worried that the trip may be cancelled if the banks don't hurry up! We are scheduled to leave on the 2nd of July!
10 days to go!
Just have to be patient!
My weight is now moving from 70.1 - 70.8 so at least it is a move in the right direction. So I am happy with that.
My plan is that once I get back to Perth in August I will put in an intense training program for a 3-6 month period to shift this weight. I have come to the conclusion that my body is quite happy with what I do now and has no intention of ridding itself of fat .
I will need to really up the anti on my activity level and give my body a bit of a change in what I do and for how long I do it! I will have my 2 dogs, Sooty and Abby to get me out the door every day, and then come home to some Wii Fit, also some rowing and maybe even join Curves as there is one in walking distance to our home! Lots of good healthy activity's to look forward to after our trip.
The scales will get packed soon , so I will not be weighing myself until I get back to Perth.
So I will keep in mind all the stuff I have learned here on Sparkpeople and have fun, be as active as possible and stick to healthy food choices and drink my water.
I am going to the mall with my friend from Texas, Holly and do a bit of shopping and then have lunch. Should be fun!
So now that I have put down in writing all my thoughts , I leave you all with a message of encouragement,
