A holiday, wedding and engagement party!

Sunday, November 09, 2014

Can't believe my last blog was 23rd September!

Had a wonderful holiday in Canberra and Tasmania. Almost feels like it didn't happen!

Thank goodness for photos as I have visual proof it did happen.

Had a wonderful time with family in Tasmania, went to the Centenary Celebration of the Hydro Electric Power Station and the village while in Tasmania. This is where I lived for the first 16 years of my life. My sister and I spent a total of 3 hours re visiting our childhood home and village. A very cathartic time for both of us. The power station is Heritage listed and continues to run and produce power. The houses in the village is another story all together . They are slowly deteriorating with the passage of time as they are empty. The power station runs automatically and there are caretakers watching over the village.

Went for my first helicopter ride over the town that I went to school in. To stop myself from going into a panic attack, I concentrated very hard on taking photos and videos of the ride using my smart phone! I had to sit in the front with the pilot as my son's fiancée and sister hadn't been in a helicopter before and sat either side of my son in the back!

The pilot couldn't take us over our home village as the wind was too gusty!

Wow! What a ride! I am terrified of heights and am so pleased I had a job to do to keep my mind off all the negative thoughts about being in the air in a helicopter! emoticon

We went onto Strahan the next day and spent 3 hours at the Henty River Sand dunes another childhood haunt we would go to for picnics if it was too windy at the beach. These sand dunes are huge and slowly moving inland at a steady pace. My sister and I spent 3 hours exploring the hills and ponds of the dunes . Once again took photos and videos.

I rolled down a dune and had the best time! emoticon My sister filmed it and it is quite funny! It was such fun to be a child again! emoticon I highly recommend it!

So back to reality, and have been back at work 2 weeks since holiday's and as usual very busy. Just getting back to Sparking again.

I am so proud, I maintained my weight while away. I stayed with the Cambridge diet and it helped me immensely. Had my shake with me on our jaunts, so if I started to feel hungry I would mix the powder with water that I always had with me and drink it and keep my hunger at bay.

Since returning I have been to a wedding and my son's engagement party and continued to be very disciplined with my food intake. emoticon

It was so nice to be able to wear clothes that I had bought several years ago as incentives to lose weight! emoticon

My son's wedding is in 18 months time so have time to get rid of the last 4 kilograms and then maintain.

Exciting times ahead! emoticon

Will try and catch up with everyone's blogs when able to. Hope you have all been well.

I have a tax return to do and an on-line conference to listen to before it is no longer available I paid $450.00 for it so this is a must do! emoticon

Bye for now!

It sounds like a wonderful time going "back home" again. I have never lived more than 15 miles from the house I grew up in, so I pretty much stayed home.

Great job at keeping on track during all the traveling and special events.

    You've been busy.

I drive by my old childhood home in the city. It sure has changed. Where my house was, there is an apartment complex. Where the neighbourhood kids lived and we played with, another apartment. The old house on the corner where the two old ladies lived and walked their dog, is still there and so is another place, but yes there is change. It makes me feel melancholy.

I'm glad you got to see your old haunts and have fun.

As for work, it's got to get done.

Can hardly wait to see what you blog next.

    Hi Libby,

It's great to hear you had a wonderful holiday and revisited your home town. It's a shame about the homes deteriorating with no one there in the village. I bet the cooler weather was quite a shock for you! Good on your for having fun rolling down the sand dune - playfulness is good for the soul! Well done maintaining while away - you are doing really well. How lovely to have a wedding and your son's engagement party to come back to. Hope you manage to catch up on your list of things to do and all goes well at work for you. Take care - it's lovely to hear from you and read your latest news.
Love and hugs, Nattacia

So nice to hear from you -glad your trip was so fun and amazing going back through memory lane -do you mean the village you grew up in has been totally abandoned and no one lives there anymore? Such a shame -sounds like a fun place to grow up in..
Hopefully you can find some time to post some of those photos and videos.
emoticon maintaining your weight on the trip! Those last few kilos are toast!
Went for a very chilly100 min four mile hike, was -15 C with a wind to help us along :-P fortunately we could keep out of it for a time in the bush.
Keep up the great work!

Spring cleaning!

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Well hello everyone.

Day 2 into my holidays and the house is clean. Yesterday I spent the day getting rid of unwanted items in the shed as it was big rubbish pick up week. I had to get on with it as I knew the truck would come to our area first. We had a small fridge to get rid of as it was no longer working, so I managed to get that out onto the verge. This then meant that I was able to move the bigger fridge around and cleaned the floor where the fridges were. While I was at it I pulled the dishwasher out and cleaned the floor there as well. emoticon
I continued to empty out the shed of stuff that we were no longer using, this was to make way for the fridge in the house as we will use it as a drinks fridge as it gets so hot here in the summer.
When hubby came home we then revisited the subject of purchasing a new fridge/freezer. We had thought about it a few months ago but because of the size of the alcove is designed more for the older style fridges of 20 years ago it became a bit of a challenge to decide on size and style. Due to an island bench in the middle of the kitchen it limited the choices.
So last night we finally decided on a 4 door fridge with the freezer below, so no more bending down to get the fruit and veggies!
I then applied for the 5 years interest free loan which was granted this morning. I asked for a limit of $3400.00 and was given a limit of $9000.00!!!!!!!
Once I pay off the fridge, I will cut up the card! So as long as I pay the correct amount every month within the time frame, there is no interest played.
So today I finished off the floors and cleaned the bathrooms.
This reminds me to track this onto the fitness tracker! emoticon Certainly did a lot of walking.
Tomorrow I am looking forward to catching up with my darling daughter. I really miss her since she moved out earlier this year. We don't see a lot of each other as she works weekends. So while on holidays I am grabbing every opportunity to see her and spend time together.
My next big challenge is to get my tax return documents together, hopefully make a start tomorrow.
Hope you are all keeping healthy, and Sparking away! emoticon

Well, well, well....Haven't you been a busy bee.

I haven't cleaned anything and I am quite content in saying that. I mean, the floors get swept and such, but no major cleaning.

Good for you for getting that done!

I'm glad you get to see your daughter. Nothing better than catching up.

Take care. Enjoy your spring. I'm a little sad to watch the leaves fall on the ground and the cooler nights.

    Hi Libby,
What a productive time you've had! Enjoy the new fridge/freezer - it sounds quite big. Hope you had a lovely time catching up with your daughter. I can understand you missing her especially with her working weekends. Hooray for holidays and being able to coordinate a free day for both of you. All the best getting your tax done - that's the sort of thing that is a relief and gives one a sense of accomplishment, I think.
Thanks so much for commenting on my blog and also the lovely Spark goodie - much appreciated.
Love, hugs and blessings to you and your family,

So satisfying to do cleaning projects like that. I find it clears my mind as well as the room. You are going to love your bottom freezer fridge. Such a better design that it's amazing the top freezer design lasted so long. Nice that you will be able to spend some more time with your daughter while you are off.

Good job on the Spring cleaning Libby. Wise to tear
up the card when you have finished. You don't want
a $9000 debt. I hope you can get to spend lots of time
with your daughter in your holidays. I am on holidays
too and have been pottering about trying to empty the
wardrobe of things I no longer wear. I finished doing
my tax return online today. Glad that is out of the way.
Have a good week. Will you be watching the footy finals?

Back on Wii Fit after over 200 days !

Saturday, September 13, 2014

I had almost forgotten how to set it up! emoticon emoticon

I love how the computer in the Wii Fit makes comments and it was suitably surprised to see me! emoticon

It was pleased with my weight loss but I had gone past my goal end date ! emoticon

So it asked me to set a new goal so with a bit of a challenge to myself I have said I am hoping to lose 4kgs in 4 weeks. emoticon

So there it is! It is out there! emoticon

I have managed to get rid of 9 kgs in the last 9 weeks!

So why not the last 4 kgs in 4 weeks! emoticon

Once I reach that goal I will see if I need to go another 2-4 kgs. emoticon

Tonight's dinner on the Cambridge diet was tuna steak 190grams and I had 100 grams of celeriac with it. Before grilling the tuna I lightly coated it with chili olive oil.

emoticon It was deliscious, and an excellent source of protein.

So lets hope I get back to Wii Fit tomorrow and lets see what it says to me then...

Time is waiting for no-one!

Tuesday, September 09, 2014

emoticon I am still coming to terms with the fact that it is already September!

We had a wonderful family day on Sunday evening for father's day for hubby and both children and their partner's. It is hard to get everyone together now as my daughter works all day Sunday. I cooked up 2 different lamb dishes and 2 different chicken dishes.

emoticon Once everybody arrived we were greeted with a lovely surprise! Our son and his girlfriend announced their engagement. It is such a wonderful feeling to see one of your children so in love and happy. I have a wonderful relationship with my future daughter-in-law. emoticon So we all partook in a glass of champagne to toast the couple's future life together.

Well had better finish off and get to bed.

Love from Libby

Debunked another myth!

Friday, September 05, 2014

Ever heard the story that people say oh, I can't lose weight at the moment because I am under stress or I am stressed out.

I have proved to myself that if determined enough you can lose weight when under stress!

How do I do it!

Keep focused on the end goal! emoticon emoticon

To not allow stress to be an excuse to eat!

To drink water and drink water and keep drinking water! emoticon

It has taken me 8 weeks to finally get it! To realize that I don't need to eat to make myself feel better.

I can go off course and re-gain some weight! It is not the end of the world!

The next meal is the new beginning!

Yes, it has been a very stressful past few weeks. I started this diet in the same week that I took 2 weeks stress leave from work. Since then there have been issues with my extended family, my 85year old father has been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was a heavy smoker during the war years in Europe, gave up 50 years ago. He also worked in the Copper Smelter in Tasmania in the 1950'sand 60's. The Dr has told him that this has now come back to haunt him. He got a chest infection and it was not treated correctly in the first place as he was told it was a virus!

I will be travelling to Tasmania to spend time with him next month.

I understand that we all deal with stress in different ways , but sometimes we do not respect our body's enough to stop eating food and drink that is harmful.

Love your body and treat it with respect. emoticon

    Hi Libby,
What a determined and positive attitude you have - good on you! Sorry to hear the news about your father, especially that the seriousness of his condition was not detected straight away. Occupational environments in the past were an unfortunate precursor to lung diseases many years down the track. I am praying that your father will be okay and feeling better soon.
Love and hugs, Nattacia

Oh, Libby, the things you must do.

So sorry to hear the news about your Dad. I sure hope he's doing much better.

Yes, you're right that stress shouldn't be an excuse. If anything, it should be a reason to work on ourselves and almost say the heck with everyone! Well, not quite, I mean, you should be taking care of things that need to be done.

So, on that note...take care of yourself.

And good for you for sticking to your plan! I created a weird habit for myself, knowing that stress always hits me hard. Instead of reaching for something bad, I've somehow developed a 'craving' for salads when I'm under pressure.

Have a super weekend!!
