Yes it has been one of those years.
Cannot believe it is almost the ned of November!
As the title says 4 funerals and a wedding.
After my last blog we attended our nieces wedding which was wonderful after all the sadness of my MIL 's funeral.
The wedding was held at a resort in the country side called Evendon Park. Just a short distance from Bunbury. The extended family had made arrangements to stay for the whole weekend Sadly we couldn't leave till 4pm on the Friday and as it was 2 hours away we had to find the place in the dark of night, luckily hubby was pretty spot on with the navigating and despite a couple of "U" turns we made it!
Hubby created a bit of entertainment on the afternoon of the wedding by falling out of a canoe on the dam at the venue. It happened as he was trying to get out at the end of his peaceful canoe paddle around the dam. Yes we all laughed! A lot of us were sitting on our balconies admiring the view and it created the entertainment for the afternoon. My ex-sister in law asked hubby to do it again as she wanted to film it!
During our time at the wedding my sister in law was worried about her father as he was going to have an operation for cancer that next week. Sadly he passed away 3 days after his operation so I travelled 4.5 hours to Albany for his funeral. Hubby was unable to come due to work commitments. So it was a long trip down, the funeral was the same afternoon. It was a heart felt ceremony as this wonderful man had led an amazing life as a Queen's guard in England and also was a guard of Rudolf Hess in Germany. His grand daughter gave a wonderful eulogy, we were all in tears.
So once again I am apologising for not being a consistent Sparkfriend.
In a desperate attempt to try and get off this plateau I am on , I have joined the Michelle Bridges 12 week weight loss plan. I am into week 3 and floundering with tiredness, hot weather and being busy at work.
My overall plan is to get to bed earlier at night so I can exercise in the morning. This worked for 2 mornings last week!
So lets see how this week goes!
I am not drinking enough water at work also, so need to put a plan in place to ensure I drink more. Our weather went from winter to summer in a day!
Any way it is 9:45pm Western Australian time so I had better get this body to bed!
Thank you for being patient with me.
Sorry, the 4 funerals have sadly been , my mum, my nephew, hubby's mum and my SIL's dad. All in the last 13 months. We were all so grateful for the wedding, we all had a wonderful time.

Hard to believe that it is almost the middle of September!
It has been a very tumultuous last few weeks here.
Spent the week of the 23rd of August celebrating my 60th birthday. Went out to lunch on the Friday of my actual birthday with my hubby. It was a beautiful sunny day and the view of the river from where we were sitting was just beautiful.
On the Saturday we went to watch our football team the Fremantle Dockers play a great game and met up with friends for pre-game drinks and lunch.
On Sunday we had around 30 people come to our home for lunch and relax and catch up with each other. It was a wonderful afternoon and the rain came just as the last guest left!
Food wise I made sure there was plenty of healthy food, we had fruit platter, vegetable platter with a garlic mayonnaise dip. I had sushi rolls and salad wraps catered for and had Italian meatballs that I oven baked so they would not be too greasy.
I did order a Black Forrest cake, maybe a bit too large for the birthday cake, it was nice and I tried very hard not to eat too much of it.
I found that through the whole afternoon I had the same glass of champagne as I was too busy greeting guests and keeping the food going. As far as eating, ate very little as I just didn't have time to sit and eat. I do recollect having a few mouthfuls of the veggies and dip and some fruit and a couple of sushi's.
One of the conversations on the day was the health of Olive , my MIL. She had been poorly and so I told my husbands family I would go into the nursing home the next day and see how she was feeling. We also wanted to see if she was going to be well enough to celebrate her 90th birthday on the 1st of October.
When I saw her on the Monday she said she was feeling tired but felt that she would be around for her 90th.
On the Friday we travelled 5 hours down to Albany to visit with my B.I.L and his partner. We have been planning to visit them for almost 6 months! My B.I.L broke his ankle badly 4 months ago and was very unwell for quite a long time due to post op complications with clots in his leg. At one stage when we planned to visit previously, both hubby and I became unwell with colds so cancelled the trip. So this trip was a long time coming and we were looking forward to it. The weather was terrible, wet and VERY windy.
The trip was uneventful, the country side was beautiful and green due to all the rain we have had.
On Saturday we set up the lounge room ready to watch our team play and then the 'phone call came. My MIL had taken a turn and was having trouble breathing and was on her way to hospital in an ambulance. My B.I.L spoke with the Doctor looking after her when she got to emergency, it was not good news, she had pneumonia.
We got in touch with her son who was still in Perth to go and be with her as we were 5 hours away. We then quickly left and checked out of our hotel room and drove back to Perth. By the time we left it was 3pm and we went straight to the hospital , getting there around 8:30pm She was on the ward by the time we arrived and had a B-pap mask on which has to be on tight and pushes oxygen into her lungs. When I saw her I was shocked! She was so distressed with the mask on was asking me to take it off!
The mask was removed and she calmed down and we then spent the next hour getting her comfortable in her bed. She still had a rolled up sheet under her from when she was transferred from the stretcher to the bed! As she weighed all of 35kgs she felt every little thing that was not smooth.
We spoke to the doctors on Sunday and the news was not good . Due to being so frail and her chronic disease that affects her muscles, the disease had started to affect her diaphragm and hence the pneumonia. All her family had come to see her and I was able to get a daughter who had not spoken with her mother for a long time to talk and ask forgiveness for not keeping in touch. This was very emotional for everyone.
We decided as a family to sing happy birthday to her on Sunday night as we knew her time was close and we wanted her to feel that she made it to her 90th as she was only 3 weeks away! We stayed at the hospital all day and everyone had time to reminisce with her about the old days.
As we were getting ready to visit her on Monday we had a 'phone call to say that she had passed away peacefully in her sleep. Although it was sad that she had passed away we were all relieved that she was no longer suffering.
We had her funeral on the Friday and we had family stay with us for that week. It was a wonderful time to reconnect with everyone and my youngest B.I.L read the Eulogy and did a great job.
My MIL ashes are going to be scattered over her husbands grave in Queenstown, Tasmania sometime next year. It was in her will and she has her life savings set aside so the family here in Perth can fly and have a memorial ceremony when the time is right.
So as you can see this has been a busy time for all of us. This weekend we have just relaxed and cherished life. I planted pansy flowers in the garden in memory of my MIL as I know they were one of her favourite flowers.
So not a lot of Sparking took place, I will try and catch up with you all in the near future. I know a few of you are experiencing sad busy times as well, my thoughts are with you and big hugs to you.
Love from Libby

Funny weather today, heavy rain intercepted with warm sunny patches. Sooty and I managed to get to the river and he managed 3 good swims before it got too cold in the water. He is walking on all 4 legs a lot more now, even when he is walking faster.
The accountant came and after spending 5 hours last night getting all the documents and figures together the whole process was straight forward. Phew! Another job done!
Getting organised to go to Albany tomorrow to visit hubby's brother and family.
Got on the rowing machine again today but couldn't quite get the full 5 kilometers done. But 3.5 kilometers in 20 mins is OK.
Spent about 15 mins doing some yoga stretches. Have had a niggling pain in my Rt hip, but that seemed much better today. I may have over stretched it previously.
Well better head off to bed , see you on the flip side.

Well, what a wonderful week!
I have had the pleasure of enjoying some wonderful times during my 2 weeks of annual leave.
It started with a surprise delivery on Thursday last week of a wonderful flower arrangement and a balloon with a big Happy Birthday on it. This had been sent by my darling dad and stepmum, step sister and her family.
Then on Friday I hit the big 60 and went out to lunch with my darling hubby.
We were given a voucher for a restaurant , some months ago as thank you for caring for my neighbour's 2 Cocker Spaniels who needed medication, feeding and cuddles twice a day.
So the voucher use was put to good on my birthday and the weather behaved and it was a glorious sunny mild day. I have taken photos and have to up load somehow off my phone onto the computer. Once done I will post.
On the Saturday was the night the football team we follow was playing it's last home game, we are 3rd on the ladder, so doing very well.
We met with friends at a bar close by and had a late lunch and then watched an amazing game of football. We did the Mexican wave 5 times going round the stadium in one long session.
On Sunday we had about 30 adults and 10 children come and join us at our home for a finger food lunch.
I did Sparkpeople proud and had a huge fruit platter, huge vegetable platter, antipasto platter, sushi rolls, wraps with salad and meat, Greek salad ,the only pastry food was sausage rolls and spinach and feta rolls. The only sweet food was 1 small bag of liquorice, 2 small bags of party mix lollies. 1 bowl of mixed nuts. And of course the birthday cake which was Black Forrest.
I did one of the tricks I learnt with Sparkpeople and had the same glass of champagne all afternoon, drinking water as my main drink. I did not eat much as I was too busy!
This is the first time I have ever had such a large group of people attend my birthday, so found it very loving and joyful. There were family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, some had travelled up to 5 hours to be there. A day I will never forget.
Then today one of my dear friends who could not make it on Sunday took me out to lunch, and we left at 4.30pm after arriving at 1pm.
In between all that I have been very vigilant with my food choices and exercising almost every day.
Have sorted out all the paperwork that was on the 3 surfaces in the office.
Am currently in the throes of sorting out documents and figures for the accountant who is doing a house call at 10am today to prepare our tax return forms .
In between all that poor old Sooty had a ligament repair operation about 4 weeks ago, so I try and take him to the river beach for his physiotherapy. He uses the repaired leg for walking, but continues to lift it up when running. But considering his age he is doing well.
It has been great being on holidays as I was able to purchase tickets for the Bruce Springsteen concert here in Perth next February. If I had of been working I would not have been sitting at the computer like a vulture waiting for the booking to begin. I registered with a site that allows early booking and you have to remember a code and you HAVE to be ready to start the process as soon as the time for booking commences and then you have 15mins for the whole process. Talk about mind racking! But we got tickets to a concert that sold out in minutes! So very lucky! The whole process took up a whole morning!
Well I had better stop now and try and get some more sleep!
Hope you are all well and I apologise for not being a very good Sparkfriend on line, I do think of you all and referred a friend and I think she joined?
