My neighbour's dogs started barking and they don't do that as a rule, and then I could hear voices - loud voices - coming from the back gardens. Thinking my neighbour might need help I opened the back door, and heard words to the effect of "Sh**! The door's opening!"
Instant panic for me, because it was pitch dark out there and I couldn't see a thing! So, I told Sophie "Go Fetch!" and she obligingly ran out into the garden while I raced for the telephone to dial 999!
You should have heard her barking as she chased whoever it was down the garden!
Meanwhile I'm being asked whether I want fire, police or ambulance, and I'm telling the lady on the phone what is going on while holding my torch, which is dying on me, trying to see where the people (sounded like teenage boys) were.
By the time the police got here the boys were gone, but when we went down the garden using the Policewoman's massive torch, it was clear where they had gone. They had used an old TV stand to climb over into my other neighbour's garden, breaking it in the process. So the policewoman went next door to check Anne's garden out too.
I had thought they had come over from the field behind the house, but it looks like what they actually did was work their way through at least four back gardens, presumably looking for stuff to pinch!
The police surrounded the area and were stopping everyone and asking questions. I don't suppose they will find the kids now, but I'm glad they came out to look.
11 years I've lived here, and the only intruders I've dealt with till now were...
A small dog that squeezed through a hole in the fence and couldn't find it's way out, and a naked toddler with a Houdini complex that climbed over the fence from next door when his Mum wasn't looking!
I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. *sigh*
Hope your evening is less eventful!

Ooooh, I am delighted! Bry emailed today to let us know that both she and Rob would be up here for the Easter weekend.
But, much as it will be lovely to see them both, the timing is off, and it really isn't the best time for us, what with my foot still recovering, so long walks out of the question, plus TOM due for both of us any day that will definitely throw a couple of spanners in the works.
There is an overwhelming reason or two why picking a different weekend won't work.
The first is that Rob's work schedule won't have another long weekend to play with for quite a while - or at least not that he can travel up here for.
And we are going to need him up here...
They are bringing with them...
Yay! It is Bry's old Mac laptop, and they are giving it to Tara so that we can each have our own computer again. :-)
We aren't used to using Macs, so we are going to need Rob's expertise to teach us the ropes through the weekend. :-)
If it all goes well, by this time next week I'll have my baby all to myself again. That means I'll be able to Spark more, study more, Jigidi more, and exercise and stuff whenever I want to!
Always assuming that nothing goes wrong, which is why I'm not sure quite when to start jumping up and down and doing a happy dance! LOL
It is going to be a tricky week ahead...
keeping my fingers crossed...
while trying to spring clean! *grin*
Have a Manic (in a good way) Monday!

I don't know why, but I seem to be attracted towards various curries at the moment, as long as they are mild or on the mild side of medium.
Last week I bought a jar of Waitrose Makhani curry sauce, and split it between two meals, coating a chicken leg in half the sauce and slow cooking it each time. Glory be! That was nommy!!! :-)
Today, I decided to grab a ready meal for tomorrow night from the Waitrose range. I rarely buy ready meals for myself, but just occasionally I find them useful as a quick fix or a bit of a treat. Well, with no one around to cook for me these days, this is the closest I get! LOL
Waitrose have recently launched their Love Life - You Count meal selection, where the calorie count is written nice and big on the box for easy reference.
So, this is the one I am trying...
I thought that was a very reasonable calorie count for a main meal. I'll add veggies to my plate too of course. A fennel bulb and some brocolli probably. Nom!
A couple of weeks ago we bought their snackpot macaroni cheese and were really impressed with it. For Tara to say it was as good as Mum's mac 'n' cheese is high praise indeed. From its flavour you absolutely could not tell it was lower in fat. :-)
Thing is though, I often find that when they reduce fat in curries, it has the detrimental effect of making the spices more coarse in flavour, and I don't like that. Also, this one being a medium on Waitrose's scale of heat means that it could be over my comfort zone, so I have bought a small tub of zero fat natural yogurt to add a dollop or two should the need arise.
Wish me luck! :-)
I would be delighted to have finally found a tasty go-to low cal curry ready meal for occasional noms.
In other news...
I've been playing with my ST exercise lists, and it is quite good fun. I can utilise them when I do most of the challenges set up on the Sparkteams I frequent. I used the Core list on Saturday, and picked the songs from JD2 to help finish filling in the March JD2 dance challenge I was in.
Yesterday was random pics from the Cardio list, and today I have a random selection of Upper Body exercises and games to play.
Now, if only I can get Tara off the Playstation so that I can use the Wii.
I know, I know... I'm usually trying to get her off the computer! LOL
My foot is improving - just a wee twinge or two - on the walk to Waitrose today, so it obviously isn't quite fully mended as yet. At least it doesn't mind most movements I make. It really does seem to be actual walking that causes the problem, and I also observed today that the pavement camber has a part to play, in that if it tilts in one direction my foot is fine, but if it tilts the other way, my foot doesn't like it. So probably best to stay away from Highwoods and its rough terrain for another week. *sigh*
I need to go into town later in the week, and that will be the big test. If I'm hobbling after that I will definitely go to the doctor and see what's what. The last thing I need is not to be able to walk everywhere. That would be a right royal pain in the pa'foot'!
Have a great day!
