...Amongst other things, the pavements were clear enough yesterday that we could get to and from Waitrose without incident! The alleyway we normally cut through was an ice rink, but the long way round was clear, so we got a little extra walking in, which helps when you are largely stuck indoors.
The costo is a pain, my joints are feeling the cold, and my ooomph is conspicuous by its absence still, but I'm ok otherwise. I've been getting my work hours in, and reading a lot, and eating properly for the most part (aside from double helpings of cakey thing yesterday thanks to my bad memory, LOL)
On the way back from Waitrose I got myself a bargain at the RSPCA charity shop. A double bed Candlewick bedspread for a pound! I brought it straight home and popped it in the wash because it had a little yellow stain on it, but the stain came out. The only other issue is a teeny tiny hole which I can easily darn. It's going on my bed when it has dried. It should really lighten up my room. :-) Not to mention keeping me toasty warm at night. :-)
Isn't it pretty!
Oooh, and I was very excited to find out that the new exhibition at the Golden Banana (aka the Firstsite Gallery) is right up my street! Right up my Cloud Street to be exact! Not only do they have a collection of Constable's Cloud paintings on view *melts with a squee*, but Gavin Pretor-Pinney - founding member of The Cloud Appreciation Society and author of The Cloudspotter's Guide - is giving a talk at the gallery on the 3rd March at the cost of £5 a ticket!
I rang to reserve a ticket for myself this morning, and discovered that if you are a member of the Cloud Appreciation Society, the talk is FREE!!! So all I have to do is take my membership certificate in and I don't have to pay for the talk at all, just sit back and enjoy it!
Of course I will also take my Cloudspotter's Guide in to be autographed too. Can't miss that opportunity. :-) I may even try and persuade him to come outside for a quick cloud reading! I am a Devine and I divine by the clouds! LOL
So, seeing as my ooomph is causing problems, I've decided not to waste the time, but to use it to work out a plan of action for when it returns. I've long since believed that my best efforts work when I use the weekly formula of...
Mon: Cardio and Upper ST
Tue: Cardio and Core ST
Wed: Cardio and Lower ST
Thu: Cardio and Upper ST
Fri: Cardio and Core ST
Sat: Cardio and Lower ST
Sun: Cardio only, or Rest
But as I like a variety of things, and tend to be mixing it up all the time, I don't often stick to it.
But over the next couple of weeks I'm going to work out lists for each day of the week, and randomly select options from those lists each day that work those specific areas.
For example: The Just Dance games have a variety of dance moves that target different areas. Some have a lot of arm movement, some have a lot of leg movement, and some have you twisting and bending. So, I plan to place each song in its body area appropriate list. Where they overlap, I'll pick the area they seem to work the most.
Then I will use Random.org to select my exercises each day. :-) I started working on this a while ago, but have some updating to do because I've added Just Dance 3, Wii Sports Resort and Dance on Broadway to my collection since then, and lost a pile of videos online thanks to exercise.tv closing their website down.
I don't know how this will affect my various team challenges, but I'm hoping they will complement each other. :-)
And talking of that, I need to toddle of and play catch-up with my scores reporting.
Enjoy your day! :-)

You know I love my LOLCATS, so here's a live one for you!

It has been a few days of really struggling to find my ooomph! I hope today may be better, but I'm not confident. Yesterday I did manage 30 mins playing on the Wii Fit Plus, and did 8 songs on Just Dance. But by the third song my heart wasn't in it, and it was only the fact that I had a Bingo to claim that forced me through the rest of the songs. My scores certainly reflected my flat battery!
I've been feeling out of sorts, nothing I can put my finger on, except I think from the back pains and breathlessness that the Costo is partly to blame. It is here more often than not these days. Also, the stress of having to walk on such icy pavements to get to the shops can't be helping. I hold myself stiff from fear of falling, and that has a knock-on effect on the Costo.
You know it's bad when you see me going to bed at 11pm when I'm normally up through the wee small hours. :-)
Never mind. This too shall pass. So I keep telling myself. :-)
On the good news front I weighed myself today and I'm 12 stone 7 exactly. :-) So slowly heading in the right direction again. :-)
Well, I'm off to play Jigidi until Tara deigns to get out of bed, and then I'll see how much dancing I can do before my ooomph levels run out.
Catch you all later.
Have a great Day!

Tis true, tis true!
Jo rang me this morning.
She said, and I quote:
"I'm just ringing round to tell everyone that we aren't opening the Big Garden today for several reasons, the main one being that we can't find it!!!"
Yes people, the white stuff has effectively buried the garden so well that there is little to see.
This makes me feel better, because I hate to let people down but the pavements are treacherous here today, thick with ice and trampled snow. With a couple of steep hills to negotiate also, I knew I wouldn't have been able to get there today anyway.
I told Jo this, and she said,
"Isn't it great when you worry that you are going to let someone down, and then the someone rings and lets you off the hook!" LOL
I do like her sense of humour. *grin*
You know, she is a big kid when it comes to snow. I wouldn't be too surprised to find she has cancelled so she can have all that snow to herself. :-)
Apparently, last year she spent days building a huge fort!
You have to admit she has dedication ... and a good eye for detail! LOL
So, I went to bed last night feeling a little sick, and with a bit of a temperature, and this morning I'm still feeling 'weird' for want of a better word. So, with nothing to take me out of the house today, I think I'll have a quiet day and chillout.
At the end of last week my Land's End to John O'Groats walk was nicely on target. I've walked 713.4 miles in 203 days which is an average of 3.51 miles per day.
My current daily step target is 7700.
My current weight is 12 stone 7 3/4 lbs. So although I'm not dropping any further at the moment, I'm not gaining either, swaying between 12.7 and 12.10 for the most part.
I hope to drop a little more weight in time. I still want to reach a firm size 16 instead of being 'between sizes', so getting below 12 stone would probably clinch that. :-) Currently though, I'm very happy with my efforts since joining Spark, because I have already dropped 2 stone! I have to keep reminding myself of that when the scales don't move much.
So, whatever the weather, be safe and have a great day everyone! :-)

It is customary to show off the snow we get gifted to us before we get sick of it and it turns into a muddy slushy mess, so here are my contributions to that custom. :-)
Feel free to skip if you are already up to your patoot in the stuff and more than ready for the thaw! :-)
Action shot! Otherwise entitled 'How to Throw a Snowball at Yourself'! LOL
Sophie loves snow football!
A perfectly iced table showing we had about 6 inches of snow in all overnight.
The most astonishing thing I've seen so far this year...
icicles hanging from ...
and I kid you not ...
hanging from a spider web!
naturally the water on the bird table freezes and the Maggies were pecking at solid ice yesterday, so I pulled out some old plastic containers I never use and filled one with water and put it out yesterday afternoon.
This morning it was apparently frozen solid, so I brought it indoors, and replaced it with one of the others.
After twenty minutes or so I saw it was yielding around the edge so I tipped it upside down in the sink to let the block of ice melt.
But, it was only solid across the top and around the sides. Turned out I had a perfect ice bowl full of water!
I tried to take it out of the sink to get a better pic but broke part off one of the sides. Still, you can see the rest of it, still half full of water.
In other news...
I'm having a rest day. I dug a path through the snow from the back door to the bird table and another from the front door to the road, and that is me done for the day. :-) I haven't had a lot of sleep, and I have some interesting pains here and there, so I'm taking a break from exercise. Not as much of a break as I would have, had the snow not materialised, but there you go. :-)
So, not much of an entry for my first day with my new exercise notebook. :-)
Never mind. I'll be playing Just Dance catchup, and working on Wii Fit Plus routines again tomorrow, noting my scores and minutes in my notebook for the various Spark Challenges I play.
I won't be able to go to the Big Garden tomorrow. It will be too treacherous a walk sadly, and I don't know anyone who could give me a lift.
But, if it clears up enough, maybe I'll be able to get there on Thursday instead. :-)
Enjoy your Sunday!
