Day 24/1000 Day Fitness Challenge

Monday, May 09, 2011

1000 Day Fitness Challenge:

Walked to Waitrose and back.

3 songs on Just Dance 2

3 routines on Zumba Fitness

Wii Fit Workout Generator:
Easy 30 minute Wii Fit Weightloss Routine:
Stretch:
Spine Extension - Yoga
Warm Up:
Single Leg Extension - Muscle - 6 reps each side
Tricep Extension - Muscle - 10 reps each side
Deep Breathing - Yoga
Exercise:
Island Cycling - Training Plus - 4 mins collecting 13 flags and returning to the start
Step Plus - Aerobic - completed twice - 10 mins total
Heading a football - Balance Game
Super Hula Hoop - Aerobic
Penguin Slide - Balance Game
Cool Down:
Single Leg Extension - Muscle - 6 reps each side
Palm Tree - Yoga

Note to self: Must mix it up and change the order in which I do the Wii exercises from time to time. It may make me wobble less during my yoga and strength exercises if I haven't danced myself wobbly first! LOL

I may have to change my sparkname to something Tiggerish now I've dug out my old Wild Thing top. emoticon Suggestions on a postcard please... :-)

Incidentally, I may be attempting all this stuff on the Wii, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm good at all of them. LOL. I can't head balls for toffee for a start, and some of the yoga poses are defeating me soundly! Downward-facing Dog for instance... I can get into the position but I can't hold it for more than a few seconds, so I get unranked on the Wii. *insert appropriate sad face here* LOL. And much as I love all creatures of a black and white nature, I make a lousy Penguin. *grin*

Well, a headache is refusing to let go in spite of painkillers so I think I'll call it a night and crawl into bed with a good book.

Catch you later. Hope Monday has been good to you.
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Days 18-23/1000 New toys are so much fun! :-)

Sunday, May 08, 2011

I didn't realise I hadn't blogged all week, so this is going to be a rather long list of exercise, which you are more than free to skip if you don't want to know what sort of things you can do in the name of fitness with a Wii. :-)

If you are interested in adding a new dimension to your Wii Fit Plus experience, however, you may want to read on...

I have added a new and free toy to my collection which has created an interesting twist to using the Wii Fit Plus. This is a website that includes a random Wii Fit Routine generator:

www.wiifitroutine.com/wii-fit-workou
t/routine-generator

You join and create a free account and this gives you access to the generator. It allows you to mix and match your Wii Fit Plus to you. For example, today I chose a random Easy 30 Minute Wii Fit Weight Loss Routine and it gave me a lovely selection of exercises across the range available (see Day 23 for details). The workout generator also works if you only have the original Wii Fit. You just disable the Wii Fit Plus option. :-)

So, what have I done this week to keep moving:

Cardio Slimdown with Leslie Sansone
Well.... you can't use the Wii ALL the time! emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon

Aside from that there is very little to report. I have taken a break from the Nutrition tracker. I decided last week to see how I get on without it. I pop in to use it to tally up a new recipe but I feel I am pretty good at working my days and keeping more or less to the straight and narrow now. :-)

Also, I wear weighted gloves when working out now. They came as a package with the risers for the Wii balance board, so I try and remember to put them on when jogging and walking with Leslie Sansone. I know opinion is somewhat divided as to their usefulness, but hey, I have them, so I might as well use them. I can certainly feel my arms this evening after wearing them through the cardio slimdown with Leslie Sansone, and clapping is a little tricky when you have them on! LOLOL

Note to self: Heavier hands hit each other harder and faster than they normally would!

Been an active week, huh? LOL
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Autistic Homeschooled 11 year old on Britain's Got Talent

My daughter's latest inspiration! :-) Also autistic and homeschooled, she is backing this kid all the way to the Royal Variety Performance! He is amazing!

Thought you'd like to see him in action:

My brother is Asperger's, he did a degree in Japanese, spent his Uni time living independently as a student AND spent a year in Japan. No one ever believed this could happen when he was younger... and now he is looking to get on a teaching post to go back to Japan. He made so many friends out there and no one thought he was weird. There is always hope.

If he ever gets bored with dancing, he should give gymnastics a shot 'cos he's absolutely amazing.
And anyone who can face that sort of thing is incredibly brave, I'd never stand under the spotlight in front of a crowd of people!

Days 16 and 17/1000 Zazen, my eye! LOL

Monday, May 02, 2011

Exercise challenge:

Day 16 (Sunday)
Zumba Party Beginner 20 mins Class 2
Scored 463. I'm a Zumba Jammer! LOL It took 2208 steps (about a mile)

Just Dance 1 and 2 - Total of four songs.

Wii Fit Plus - Jogging, Football and Snowboarding, which all sounds grand, but apart from the jogging, which I do on Tigger, I was baaad at the rest! Missed the bulk of the balls I was supposed to head, but got hit a few times by flying shoes among other things you're meant to avoid, and in two attempts at snowboarding I barely slalomed through five flags! I have a lot to learn about balancing on the board while trying to slide down a snowy hill around flags! Now you know why I don't ski!!! *grin*

Day 17 (Mon)
Two walks to Waitrose and back - "Honestly, your memory Miss Price!" (Goodie award if you remember the film that quote is from) :-)
Second trip was for crisps. Love Seabrooks and I had run out. But I forgot I'd run out, so I had to go back or suffer, and as TOM had kicked in I figured I was suffering enough! LOL

Just Dance 1 and 2 - total of 9 songs. The first four as part of the Bingo game I'm playing and the rest were from the section called Just Sweat, and I did! :-) It costs 300 wii points to download an extra song on this game, and that translates to around 2.50 - 3!!! Humph!

Wii Fit Plus - silly man from nameless mobile phone company spoiled my Wii Fit Age by turning up when I just started a body test and I was so distracted I messsed it all up! *sulks* Got worst age so far today. *pouts*

Tara answered the door in case it was a delivery, and she doesn't look grown up, so why would he push his spiel on her? Silly man got short shrift from me once I made it to the door! Was he invited to knock? No. Does Tara look old enough to pay for a mobile phone? No. Do we look like we have nothing better to do on a Bank Holiday than listen to you prattle on? No! Then goodbye! Shuts door! (sadly, being a polite kinda gal, all this took place in my head as I gave him my disaproving face and politely told him we were happy with our provider and not looking to change thankyou while firmly closing the door in his face) Ai Ai Ai! *shakes head*

But I digress, so back to my exercising...

I tried a few new things today, which were fun, as part of a challenge on another team. :-) Including:
Half Moon Pose (Yoga), Torso and Waist Twists, Hula Hooping, Table Tilt - which I was better at than I expected, and finally Zazen, which involves sitting cross-legged on the balance board and staying as still as possible.... Yeah, right. Have we met? Lexie? The woman who can't cross her legs, sit on the floor, or stay still? LOLOL I am counting the 27 seconds I managed as something of a minor miracle! *grin*

Now I have to take TOM to bed before I have to be carried. I hate how weak and tired it makes me.

How has your Monday been?
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Wow! What a range of activity in your day! Way to go!!
I confess I bought some of my favorite chips because they were on sale today -I like sea salt and malt vinegar -the flavor goes great with veggies :)
My Monday was frantically busy. I blogged about some, but did some vacuuming after I wrote that, so a good activity day for me.
One good thing about apartment living -no annoying door solicitors -my Mom has had tons of politicians coming to her door because of the election on today.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Day 15/1000 and a virus-free day

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Exercise Challenge:

Walked to Waitrose and back in the windy sunshine, 20 mins Zumba and 9 Just Dance routines. Hoping to do a couple of things on Wii Fit Plus once my tummy has settled from dinner. :-) Got my minimum steps in though, and I already did my Body Test today, so not too worried if i run out of oomph. :-)

What a relief that the computer virus didn't do any harm. I mean, I knew the dratted thing couldn't do any harm as long as I didn't touch it, but I still threw Kaspersky at my computer this morning with gusto, and HP decided to to a check-up at the same time, coincidentally, and all is very fine with my baby. No threats whatsoever detected. :-) Maybe tonight I'll be able to sleep without dreaming about my hoover swallowing up all the computer cables and melting them! LOL I told you I was upset by what happened. I deal with things at the time, and then my knees go to jelly and I get the shakes after. *grin* This is me, so what can I do except grin and bear it and get through as best I can. I will admit to a moment or two of trepidation when I first switched my baby on this morning, but I soon got past that. :-)

I've had a lovely day on the computer today, sparking like crazy and catching up with loads of blogs, and getting up to date with Finding and Loving Your Inner Tigger. I got to share out loads of goodies to all our active team members. Great fun! :-) I am really enjoying running a Sparkteam, though I do wish my two co-leaders were with me instead of poorly sick. Wishing both Rhonda and Chris a speedy recovery. *blows kisses*

A new bit of kit for the Wii arrived in the post today. Cup raisers for the balance board that make it into a 4-5 inch step to increase cardio, and a pair of weighted gloves, which should be interesting to use. LOL

So, short and sweet tonight because I still have some things to do, and I can also hear my bed calling me. :-) Tomorrow I shall have to see about a new look to my Sparkpage for Beltane. :-)

Hope Saturday is being Special for you. :-)
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Glad no virus in your computer. I'm leading the sp team for people who join this week...it's a little over-whelming as there are already a few thousand!!! But most seem to go on and do their own thing instead of becoming a part of their "generic" team. I'd been thinking a leading or co-leading a team but was scared (don't ask why, I don't know) but after this team I'm not scared any more!!
