Llama Photo captions invited

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

OK, just for fun, you have probably seen the photo of the Llama sticking its tongue out at me on my Sparkpage. I would love it if you felt the urge to go into my photos and click on it to open the comment box and suggest a caption for it. My favourite one (or several) will be rewarded with a Spark Goodie and with being used on my Sparkpage under the pic in rotation.

Hugs,
Lex xxx

Actually, I have just thought of another photo I have that might be fun to caption. I'll see if I can dig it out later in the week and we can have another caption competition and this time you'll be able to join in. :-)

I'll have to put my thinking cap on for this one = not sure how well the cap is working today though. LOL!

The picture does remind me of a day at the zoo with my youngest son. He was feeding the goats, llamas and a donkey when one of the llamas looked him in the eye and spit at him. Poor kid had llama spit coming down his cheek and his mother is laughing hysterically. I couldn't help it, the look on his face was priceless. He does laugh about it now.

Scales and Sparkpoints

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

I knew that it was important to weigh yourself at the same time of day for more accurate results, and over the last year, whether weighing in daily or weekly, it has always been after breakfast, when getting dressed. Last weekly weigh in (Sunday) it showed me at 13 stone 9 pounds.

This morning, having read on someone's blog here at SP that body weight can go up by 2 or 3 pounds over the day, I weighed myself as soon as I got up to get my lightest weight.
13 Stone 5 3/4 pounds! - This could jeopardise my membership of The Slowest Loser! LOL - I'm sure I haven't lost 3 1/4 pounds in three days. I am going to weigh myself tonight and see what happens.
Stay tuned! LOL

Oh, and I nearly forgot. The wheel gave me 10 points today! Now, who can I spend them on. (toddles off to see)

Walking Plan day 4

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

10 minute walk today. It was weird though. My legs didn't want to work, they felt like jelly and it was an effort to put one foot in front of the other for most of the walk. I pushed through it though. I refuse to be so feeble that I can't walk for ten minutes! I think it may be that my lower body got worked hard yesterday and decided to rebel this morning.

I set Active Health to record the walk today. I set it off and left it inside my front door to record while I'm out:
Pace - 21 minute mile
Calories burned - 49
Steps - 1221
Time - 0:11:17

It will be interesting to keep doing that for the 52-week Walking Plan to see how I (hopefully) improve as the year goes along.

Today I need to read through what to do for the 28 day boot camp challenge which I clicked to join not really knowing what I'm letting myself in for. As I actually did day 1 yesterday, I can legitimately skip it today which would be my proper day 1 (I think) and continue tomorrow, so apart from my walk to Waitrose (avoiding the jam and cream doughnuts this week) for the shopping, I think I'll rest today. Give my legs a chance to recover.

I really am pushing myself at the moment. I want to see what I can do in spite of my health. Also the doc tells me that walking will help some of my problems so that in itself is a good reason to push on.

Have a great sparky day everyone!

Walking Plan day 3

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

No walk scheduled for day 3 of the Walking Plan

So today I have managed:

25 minute walk on the Waitrose circuit (includes shopping for milk which I could have got at the corner shop but took the extra distance instead)
10 minute Bootcamp Day 1 (Thinking of joining the Bootcamp challenge)
6 minutes Hips, Glutes and Thighs video
10 minutes (first two segments) of 20 minute Dumbbell Video
15 minutes mini trampoline

It all adds up to two miles (approx 4400 steps) That is three days in a row I've managed a minimum of two miles! When I gave myself the challenge of a minimum of 14 miles a week, I didn't think I could do it, but I am feeling rather more confident now that I am approaching midweek and doing this well so far.

I am also trying very hard to stick to my favourite team's challenges this week.
British Comedy Lovers are so friendly and supportive that they make doing your best for the team a delight! They also help you fit a healthy dose of laughter into your day - Laughter is the best medicine, to borrow from my favourite page in the Readers' Digest when I was a kid.

I hope all my Sparkfriends and Sparkteams are having a good day!
