52-Week Walking Plan Week 2, Day 3 etc. And where did my day go?

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Glory be! I should have learned after the last time that I shouldn't leave my blogging 'until later' because later tends to become very late indeed! LOL

Never mind, I made it before midnight, which is the important thing.

OK, stats!

52-week Walking Plan
Week 2, Day 3,
15 minute walk

Pedometer Stats:
Pace: 20 minute mile
Calories: 69
Steps: 1,734
Time: 0:15:53
Distance: 0.78 miles

An uneventful walk, barely got over the bridge before the end of the first leg, but that's fine. Got a nice smile and a "Good morning" from my postie on the leg out (not the same one I was racing the other day, this is the one that actually delivers my post :-) ). He wasn't well last time I saw him, but he has taken a day off and is back to his normal speedy self again. He walks really fast, and I'd lose if I raced him cos he doesn't need his bike! LOL

I played 'Dodge the Dustmen' very successfully, until the very last bit of the walk, when they suddenly sneaked out of a side road and caught me on the home stretch. Still, a quick pongy whiff and it was all over! Yay! LOL

28-Day Bootcamp Challenge
Week 2, Day 3,
Upper Body
Big oops, cos I mistimed my bonus weight video yesterday. So I've done weights two days in a row. Fortunately this video only uses them for the first segment, so I haven't overdone it. Have moved my second use of the bonus video to Friday though, to fix the problem for the rest of the week.

Tigger time for 15 minutes while watching the news this lunchtime.

Mowing the lawn. I have an electric mower, but a very uneven lawn, so I get more exercise in with the thing than you'd think, especially when I hit tussocks of grass at regular - or rather irregular - intervals! LOL The mowing had to be aborted 3/4 of the way through the back garden because the weather front beat me to it! Never mind. The front of the house is done, and the rest can be taken down with the strimmer later in the week. I should have listened sooner. The garden had been calling me for about an hour before I went, "Oh, all right, I'm coming! Huff, huff!" If I'd been a good girl I'd have got the job finished in one run. I can be very lazy when it comes to getting the mower out.
emoticon

Other than that I've worked a fair few hours today. We did go into town yesterday, after deciding that the weather wasn't as bad as they'd said it would be. We did quite well too, only having to deal with a few minutes of rain while we were standing in a queue for Tara's Hot Sausage, and for part of the walk home.

I was able to get a couple of sheets of plastic canvas 10 count, that I had ordered nearly three months ago! I really want to use the local family-run shops for my supplies, but it is ridiculous that I had to wait so long for such a basic item, so I'm going to have to look elsewhere in the future. I had to wait nearly two months for wool for a blanket last time I ordered something from them. It saddens me that I'm going to have to go elsewhere, because supporting local businesses is very important to me, but I can't work like that. I have a business to run too.
emoticon

The good news is that I have finished the black edging of my Random Round Squiggle Cross Stitch/Blackwork design. I just need to decide how I'm filling it in now. That will involve spending some time staring at it I suspect. :-)

Tomorrow I'll have a little play with the plastic canvas. :-)

Have a great rest of the day everyone!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Hope your Wednesday is also good.

    Lexie,

Another great day for you...even if you had to abandon finishing the backyard before you were able to finish...mother nature had her own plans emoticon

Love the cross stitch, you are going to have to share it when you are done! What are you planning for that plastic canvas?? I am amazed that your local shop won't order in larger quantities so that they have it in stock for what would be a regular customer!! They are leaving you no choice but to go elsewhere...sad.

Hope you get a restful nights sleep and that mother nature is more agreeable to your plans for tomorrow!

Bah, I despise mowing the lawn, even if all I do is ride around in circles (big lawn, @ 1/2 acre). For some reason it kills my shoulder. Weird because it's not like it is hard to steer.

Darned Dustman...can't pleasantly get a walk in with him, but our garbage would surely become a smelly mountain without him! LOL

I hate you will have to stop using the local shop. But if they are that slow, who can blame you?

52-Week Walking Plan Week 2, Day 2 etc.

Monday, August 23, 2010

Well, the weather may affect what I achieve today, because we have torrential rain and gales sweeping across parts of England and we are being hit by some of it. There was a lot of rain overnight, but I managed to fit my walk in this morning between downpours. The trees were fun. They are so soaked that when the wind blows they dumped significant quantities of water down your neck! *squirm* :-)

We were planning to go into town today to pay bills and get some art supplies, but if the weather deteriorates again, I'll have to complete my exercises on Tigger and Roo today and do the town trip tomorrow. Right now I'm cooking porridge for Tara and myself while we wait and see what's occurring outside. :-)

So far I have completed:

52-week Walking Plan
Week 2 Day 2
15 minute walk

Pedometer Stats:
Pace: 21 min mile
Calories: 69
Steps: 1734
Time: 0:16:13
Distance: 0.78 miles

28-Day Bootcamp Workout
Week 2, Day 2

Video 2: Lower Body

Bonus Video: segments 1 and 2 of the SP. 20 minute Dumbell Video

Plus SP. Upper Body Stretches Video

Wow! That was a lot of work! I certainly picked a tough bonus video to work with. :-)

I'm yawning! I didn't sleep well last night because of the weather, and because of some personal upset, plus I was silly enough to eat a pot of (low cal) choc dessert right before bedtime, which energised me so that it took ages for me to get off to sleep. Mental note to self: DON'T DO THAT AGAIN! :-)

Well, I've eaten my nommy porridge and apple, and now I'm heading for the kettle for a cuppa before deciding whether to brave town or not.

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of Lexie Goes to Town! :-) Kidding! LOL

Have a great day everyone!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Great exercising! You're doing a fantastic job of sticking with it. Glad you could get in some walking even with the rain. Those clouds look serious!

Hope you get a good night of sleep tonight - it makes such a difference, I find.

Watch out for those trees! But it would feel mighty good to me on one of our hotter than blazes summer days!

Great job on the walk and other exercises.

I want porridge...real porridge like you probably make. I make it for myself, but it's just all that nommy. :/

And I'd love the blustery look of those clouds in your pic if they didn't portend bad weather.

Stay dry!

Week 2 of 28-Day Bootcamp Challenge: Bonus Video

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Note to self:

I have chosen the 20-Minute Dumbbell Workout for my bonus video because I want to do some more weights work, but I'll only be doing the first half of it. The rest is floor work without dumbbells. :-)
I'll have to do it on days 2 and 4 to avoid working the same areas of my body on consecutive days.
I'll finish with the upper body stretches.
See video links below.

Enjoy yourself Lex! ;-)

A Week in Review: 15th-21st August 2010

Sunday, August 22, 2010

NUTRITION:
I dropped the ball somewhat on my nutrition this week. I was down on everything annoyingly. I just didn't seem able to concentrate on it, often leaving it two days before playing catch-up filling in the stats. At some point maybe I'll get the hang of advance planning, but for now, well, at least everything is recorded.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Veggies:
5,6,6,5,5,7,7 = 41/35 (record is 49)
Kept to at least five a day by the skin of my teeth! Down five portions on last week.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Water:
8,8,8,8,8,8,9 = 57/56 (record 67)
Really struggled to get my minimum this week, and that is reflected in the fact that I am ten glasses short of my record.

Good news on both of these is that I DID at least get the minimum every day, so keeping my streaks going. :-)

Nutrition Basics:
Calories in range 3/7 (record 4/7)
Under twice and over twice. I guess it balances out over the week she says hopefully. :-)
Carbs in range 5/7 (record 7/7)
Fat in range 4/7 (record 5/7)
This is ok. The overs weren't huge, and I struggle with fat.
Protein in range 3/7 (record 4/7)
Was only 4 under one other day, but badly under the other three. :-(

Ah, well. From here I can only go up. Let's hope anyway. :-)

FITNESS:
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
52-Week Walking Plan
Week 1

Sun: 15 mins
Mon: 10 mins
Tue: 15 mins
Wed: 10 mins
Thur: 15 mins
Fri: Rest Day
Sat: 20 mins

All completed with no swapping around to accommodate life this week. :-) I haven't been getting up as early as I'd like, but we altered our bed routine a couple of days ago, to get the light out an hour earlier, so I'm hoping that I'll settle into that and make the adjustment in a day or two. Getting up earlier would mean no more running the gauntlet with the dustmen for a start! LOL Also, the times that I have got up really early, I've enjoyed the walk that much more. The atmosphere feels different somehow.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
28-Day Bootcamp
Week 1

Did the full week. Was also able to work round the two days I really struggle with, by doing two of the videos twice, so I am still working the correct parts of my body each day, just not on the floor those two days.

Sun. day 1 - Video 1 - Cardio
Mon. day 2 - Video 2 - Lower Body
Tue. day 3 - Video 3 - Upper Body
Wed. day 4 - Video 4 - Core
Thur day 5 - Video 2 - Lower Body
Fri. day 6 - Video 6 - Upper Body with weights
Sat. day 7 - Video 4 - Core

I'm really enjoying this challenge, and even after one week I am noticing a slight improvement in how I am tackling these exercises.

Steps:
3400 steps met and exceeded every day.
Minimum daily steps increased to 3500.

Sun: 4,619
Mon: 6,692
Tue: 4,725
Wed: 8,010
Thur: 6,228
Fri: 6,514
Sat: 6,126

Total steps for the week: 42,914 (Record 54,421)
Average daily steps = 6131. Not bad! And the numbers were fairly consistent. I'm very happy with that. :-)

Of course, finding Roo at the charity shop helped here, because I couldn't resist trying him out - a song here, and a song there - since I got him. My neighbour may be taking my old step because she currently uses the bottom of her stairs and it wakes her partner up. *grin*
Roo is much harder work. He is almost two inches higher than my old step, even on the lowest setting, so I am really feeling it in my legs, and I'm having to cut back on length of time a bit while I adjust to the difference, but I love him to bits! :-)
Tigger is getting plenty of attention too. It has been a total delight to be able to jog and dance away on him as much as I want to again. *big cheesy grin*

Mileage

Sun: 2.10 miles
Mon: 3.04 miles
Tue: 2.15 miles
Wed: 3.64 miles
Thur: 2.83 miles
Fri: 2.96 miles
Sat: 2.78 miles

Total mileage for week: 19.5 miles (Record 24.74 Miles)
I'll stick to a minimum weekly target of 15 miles again this week, and possibly increase it by another mile next week.

Total fitness minutes this week: 415, which is 59 minutes per day. Good!
Total calories burned: 1916

WEIGHT:
emoticon emoticon emoticon
13 stone 4 3/4 (186.75) 1/4 lb down from last week's 187 lbs. Headed in the right direction again, albeit slowly. LOL

That Was The Week That Was.
Room for improvement in a lot of areas this coming week. :-) It's all good!
Have a great week everyone!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

52-Week Walking Plan Week 2, Day 1 etc.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

So, today has included...

52-Week Walking Plan
Week 2, Day 1
15 minute walk

Active Health Stats:
Pace: 20 min mile
Calories: 72
Steps: 1809
Time: 0:15:58
Distance: 0.81 (best for 15 mins)

There was a drizzle falling during the walk, which was very pleasant and cooling. The only downside was that on the return trip I passed one driveway where a chap was checking his car engine, and I got a lungful of exhaust fumes that nearly made me sick! Ugh!

28-Day Bootcamp Challenge
Week 2, Day 1
Cardio

I was really pleased with myself doing this today. I managed to do the whole thing, using the chair for the squat thrusts. I couldn't do as many as Nicole, but doing any at all is an improvement on none. :-)

15 minutes Jogging on Tigger while watching School for Scoundrels. A great old black and white British comedy with some of my favourite actors in it. Alistair Sim, Ian Carmichael, Terry-Thomas, John Le Mesurier, Hattie Jacques. *contented sigh*
After the walk and cardio workout, I couldn't have managed 15 mins on Roo. I'll probably have a fiddle with him later. :-)

Breakfast next. I'm starving!
Enjoy your day everyone. :-)
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Ugh to the exhaust fumes. That will become a part of my morning Charlie walks again next week as the school buses start rolling through the neighborhood during our stroll. Hopefully we'll miss them most mornings. Diesel exhaust fumes takes my breath away. UGH!

The numbers look good. I don't know what they mean, but if you do, that is all that counts. I think Terry-Thomas is the only person that you mentioned who got to a status of name recognition in this country. The minute you hear his name, you see the space in his teeth. Sounds like things are rocking and rolling over there. Keep up the good work and keep having fun with it.
