52-Week Walking Plan Week 1, Day 7 etc.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Today I have done:

52-Week Walking Plan
Week1, Day 7
20 minute walk

Active Health Stats:
Pace: 20 min mile
Calories: 93 (best so far)
Steps: 2337 (best so far)
Time: 0:20:46
Distance: 1.05 miles (best so far)

I made it level with the last house before the turning into St. Christopher Road. Way past the tree I didn't reach last Sat. :-)

I knew I'd worked hard. I had hardly any water left in my 16oz bottle by the time I got home, and I passed the postie on Ipswich Road twice, and he has a bike! LOL. OK, so it isn't fair to race the postie cos he has to keep stopping to deliver letters, but if he's game... Hee hee.

I nearly trod on a bee on the outward leg of the walk! The poor thing got caught in the wash from a passing car, and was basically bowled over and over along the pavement. I just missed him, and saw him kind of right himself and shake the dust off before gingerly stepping around, testing his bits and pieces out I guess. I hope he's ok. Bees aren't doing so well these days, and I hate seeing them hurt. :-(

28-Day Bootcamp Challenge
Week 1, Day 7, video 4
This is instead of Video 7 which is all floor work on the core. Day 4 is mostly upright core work, much better for me. The one time I attempted Day 7 video (aborted challenge attempt) I hurt my back, so lesson learned. :-)

15 Minutes on Tigger to random songs from my playlist. Always enjoy that exercise, and thanks to my boobie constraints I can now jog/dance with gay abandon (though I still can't just bounce on Tigger, unless someone here knows how to successfully restrain a middle-aged bladder! LOL).

Well, this is a Sparking Weekend. I have made sure to get my work hours in over the last few days so that I can concentrate on SP all weekend. I really need to properly organise myself. I keep missing great chunks of what is going on in my groups, and seem to be constantly playing catch-up with other parts of SP. So, the plan this weekend, is to catch up with everyone, spend some SparkPoints on my friends, and make a ToDoList. Now I've written the goals down, I have to do them. :-) Let's keep everything crossed that SP plays ball. With all the struggles it has had recently to cope with the volume of traffic, I'm not expecting miracles at its busiest time of the week.

Have a wonderful Sparking Weekend everyone!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Hmmm... gotta get me some of those! ;-)

    Lex,

Another great day for the books. I too need to make time to catch up on spark...things have been busy since I went back to work, still trying to sort out new routines to fit everything in. Then of course once I get settled a new routine will begin as kids start back to school in three weeks...lol

I think it is great that your postie is an unwilling participant in your walks...that was just too cute!

Enjoying sparking and catching up this weekend.

Love the "stretch" poster. Nice plan you have there. Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser once stated on the show: "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." You are ready for success!
Have a great day.

If I have a video that has a floor work segment, I do the stuff I can, then substitute my own workout during the floor part. So many get into the yoga stuff nowadays.
Keep up the great work and have a fabulous Saturday!

52-Week Walking Plan Week 1, Day 6 etc. Ooops! Nearly forgot!

Friday, August 20, 2010

Wow! When I have a rest day from the Walking Plan, I lose all track of my day! LOL Here I am, after 10pm, and I only just realised I hadn't blogged yet today.

So, today:

52-Week Walking Plan
Rest Day

28-Day Bootcamp Challenge
Week 1, Day 6
Upper Body with weights

I like this one. Has some tough moves, but very little needs altering for me, and as I improve I can increase the weight of my weights. For now I use 1 lb and 2 lb weights because I am seriously muscle-poor currently. I have three and five pound ones waiting for me to work up to though. The 2,3 and 5 lb ones came as a set from the charity shop for a fiver, and it nearly killed me, carrying them home. LOL

My legs were doing a good impression of jelly this morning. I think Roo worked them jolly hard yesterday during the 20 mins with Gin Miller (sections 1 and 2), and Tigger put the icing on the jelly-leg cake during my ten minutes of PT Bouncing with the first section of a DVD that has an insanely active guy leading the workouts. He is hilarious, and fun, and you push further than you otherwise might because you are enjoying yourself so much. :-)

I decided to stick to walking for the 30 minutes of cardio, rather than push too far with Tigger and/or Roo, so we walked to the Pet Store for bird seed, then to Waitrose for a few bits and bobs of groceries, then home. The jelly feeling left before we reached the pet store, so that was good. :-)

I've discovered that the black sports croptops are tighter on me than the white ones. What I am asking myself is, "Why?" My mind, while pondering this incredibly deep question, went back to a holiday at Butlins, the only one we ever had there. It was at Butlins that I realised that balloons suffer from strength variation depending on colour. There was a fair at Butlins, and one of the games involved bursting balloons with darts. We discovered that most of the colours burst easily, but if you threw a dart at a green one, it invariably just bounced off! So we avoided the green ones and I won a cute little toy fox!

Meet Foxy!

Anyway, back to the crop tops. I guess the dye affects the stretchiness of the material or something. Just like green balloons. LOL Good grief Charlie Brown! As if anyone is interested in comparisons between black crop tops and green balloons! I'm tired. That's my excuse for these inane mind meanderings, and I'm sticking to it!

Hope everyone is having/has had a great day!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

I wondered where you blog was for today!

So you carried home 20 lb of weights from the charity shop? Gosh, that would be tough! I had to carry my 25 lb dog home about .10 of a mile once because a bee stung his paw, and that was hard! I love that you find those deals at the charity shop. I rarely find any good scores.

And now that you mention it, I've noticed that same thing with a pair of black slacks I had; they were tighter than an identical style gray pair in the same size.

lol...you are too funny! I would never have made that comparison without you...lol Having said that, I think you are on to something and it makes total sense to me!! With all the working out you are doing you will find those black crop tops comfortable in no time at all!

CONGRATS on another successful day!

I wondered about that, too (the colours of the crop tops). The gray ones are the softest. Ugh! I agree with you - brain went to sleep a long-long time ago. Better follow suit...

In honour of TWOTIMESS poetic response to my last blog...

Thursday, August 19, 2010

My toilet is no longer growling,
And Sophie (my dog) has stopped howling,
I've exercised too,
both on Tigger and Roo,
And now it's my stomach that's growling!

Indeed Meester Skakespeare had better step aside. Twotimess and I plan to be the next poet laureates! LOL

I did have a fun day. :-) The plumber showed me the inner working of the toilet flush system. The repair took all of ten minutes. I got a good few hours work in, and did a total of 20 minutes exercise on Roo and 15 minutes on Tigger.

Now I'm sitting here, tummy truly growling, waiting for the curry and rice to cook. Om nom nommy! Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and Accidentally On Purpose lined up on TV from 9pm tonight.

(Incidentally, Sophie is more of a barker than a howler when she is excited, but there aren't many words that rhyme with growling. LOL)

SP seems to be feeling better too. Touch wood, no problems since I popped back in an hour or so ago. Hope it is working better for everyone!

Hugs,
Lex xxx

I love the poetry! I woke up feeling ready to achieve all I need to today, but now I can do it wondering if my day too can be turned into poetry, hahahha. You have no idea just how much I"d enjoy curry and rice for breakfast, after reading about your's. Maybe I'd be better off with porridge, lol.

52-Week Walking Plan Week 1, Day 5 etc. Strike That! Reverse It!

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Today I have done...

52-Week Walking Plan
Week 1, Day 5
15 minute walk

Active Health Stats:
Pace: 21 min mile
Calories: 67
Steps: 1,685
Time: 0:15:56
Distance: 0.76 miles

Didn't push today, with TOM visiting, but happy with that pace. Left hip and rib cartilage being a (literal) pain too, but not badly.

28-Day Bootcamp Challenge
Week 1 Day 5
I will swap this for the Day Two video for the rest of the challenge. They are both lower body workouts, but Day 5 is totally on the floor, and though I attempted it, I am sufficiently uncomfortable down there, especially when I have to lay on my hips, that I can't get enough out of this video for it to be effective. Day 2's lower body work is all standing, and much more do-able for me. It's a shame, because I liked the part when I was lying on my back. I might attempt that section again as part of something else down the line.

To complete my day I will be playing with my new toy. LOL. I played a little with him yesterday, and the difference in the height, width and length between Tesco Step and Reebok Step means like I feel as though I am taking off when I step up onto Reebok. It is an exhilarating feeling! It also requires considerably more effort than with Tesco. I'm going to play the same two sections of Gin Miller's Everybody Steps that I did a couple of days ago, and see how far I get on Reebok. This is going to be interesting. :-)

Of course, I will also play a little with Tigger. Don't want him getting jealous! LOL

We have a name for Reebok Step. In honour of Tigger's antics with this little fella in the Hundred Acre Wood, Reebok Step will be called Roo!

Tigger and Roo! I LIKE IT! :-) Let's just hope I don't show off like Tigger and wind up leaping too high! Don't want to get stuck up a tree. LOL

Other than that, I need to get some work hours in. We are also expecting a visit from one of the council's plumbers. Our toilet has been groaning at us for a while now, on and off, and recently it has been happening almost every flush. I need to go give the area round it a bit of a brush up so the poor guy doesn't turn into a dust bunny! When you are unwell, behind the loo is one of the last places you care about cleaning. :-)

Have a great day everyone!
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Roo is going to be a step up (pun intended) for sure from Tesco step. Enjoy Roo...and Tigger, too!

I agree with you about the floor exercises, they really bother my hip so I find replacements.

You have a really solid exercise program going there, good for you. Look forward to hearing about your stepping. emoticon

Have a great day.
