Getting all set up

Thursday, November 08, 2012

This morning I'm getting all set up for one GREAT productive day!

I have a hard time fitting in a work out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, mostly Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday is my more flexible day, so I can usually squeeze something in. And of course I'm forgetting that on Tuesdays when I have my girls on the run, they always get me to move a little. Its just not always how I want to do it... but it counts.

But back to today... I am up early to get some work done, and today after I get home from girls on the run at 4:30ish.. I'm going to get some treadmill in! woohoo.. Looking for 3-4 miles (-: 4 would be great since I only did 2 on Monday. This Sunday we have a 5k! still needing to find time for my long run.. or fit a few more miles into Sunday later... not sure yet.

Tomorrow after I get the kids from school we have to run into town and while we are there we are going to visit my husband's grandpa, their great grandpa. UPDATE: He's in rehab after having an above knee amputation. He's doing GREAT! Thank you for the prayers! He is 88 years old and very with it, and my father in law (his son) took some video of him doing some of his upper body work out with his physical therapist that is just inspirational! Then we'll have calling hours for my friend's dad. Somewhere in there maybe I can do some arms and abs? I'll work on it. I'm not sure how Saturday is going to go exactly yet as that is the funeral. I have to rearrange my work hours to go, but I'm pretty sure they won't have any issues with it. Then I do not know how long of a day it will be.

I've missed blogging this past week. I am not sure how inspiring I've been with my to do list but I enjoy putting it all down. It helps me get it all straight in my head.

Now, Off to work getting it done so I can have my evening to run! Have a GREAT day!

almost a week

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Its almost a week since I blogged.. I find blogging like holding myself accountable to who ever is reading.. if I say.. i will run 3 miles today, then I have to answer as to why I did or didn't make it to do that. In that way it is fabulous!

I really wanted to do a long run on Monday, but many many things going on here. I had work and by the time I got to the treadmill I was only able to get 2 miles done but YAA ME! Then yesterday, Tuesday, my best friend's dad passed away around 10am. Well.. talk about de-railing your day.. I sat here and cried for her loss for a while.. had trouble focusing the rest of the day, but exercise? what was that? Actually, I had girls on the run yesterday and I always get a little bit of running in with the girls there.. so not a total loss, but we really missed my friend, who happens to be one of the coaches. My kids and I went home and did our usual homework, dinner.. and then we took some food over to their family.

I'm hoping to be able to get some done today, because of course there will be a funeral later in the week I will want to go to and do whatever else my friend needs me for.

I have missed blogging it all to you.. so I'm glad to be here today (-:

Spark On!

up late

Thursday, November 01, 2012

Well I'm up late working.. too many things to do.. so little time. I made my fitness goal for October 500 minutes! woohoo!!! I was running 10 and 12 mile Saturdays in September for training for my 1/2 marathon, so I made over 1000 fitness minutes for September. not sure I can hit that again without a 12 mile Saturday here and there LOL.

I had a great day today eating wise. Lots of veggies and fruit and I had tuna for snack.. dinner was a salad with 2 eggs, and dessert was a cut up warm apple with cinnamon...mmmmm.. BUT I need my coffee with vanilla creamer! I've tried the sugar free, fat free versions.. they just taste yucky! I spend a few hundred calories a day on my coffee. if anyone has any suggestions how I can do this cheaper (with less calories) and still come out with that yummy creamy vanilla taste, I'm open to hearing them!

Love to all.. I must get to work! I'm feelin sparky!

Oh and continued prayers for the Grandfather are appreciated. He's had a rough day.. first day after surgery.. so you'll have that.

Have you tried a drop or two of vanilla extract? And coffe mate is only 15 calories a teaspoon for original :-) with a no-calorie sweetener, you could probably make a pretty decent cuppa. I make mocha with the splenda, a teaspoon of cocoa powder, and 2 teaspoons of coffee mate in a cup of coffee. Its pretty good for 37 calories!

There are also some sugar free coffee syrups available, but I don't know the calorie count. Sorry I'm not more help!

Feeling blessed

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

To say the least this morning we are feeling blessed at my house. My husband's grandfather had to have surgery and came through that wonderfully, of course there is healing and everything that goes along with it, so still a ways to go but I'm excited he came through surgery so well. And well of course the hurricane. We just have lots and lots of rain. No real flooding and no damage to anything. So I have many, many praises today (-:

I need another 32 minutes of exercise time today to meet my goal for the month.. so I'll need to make that happen today.

Just counting my many, many blessings today.

The gift of time

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Like most of you probably do I feel like I juggle A LOT! I'm an independent contractor with 2 jobs (need them both).. I volunteer at the school, and unfortunately I love what I do there, although I'd love to find someone to take my place and give that time to myself and my family... My kids both do the respective scouts and a sport. I coach a girls on the run here.. that will be over in 4 or 5 weeks (weather depending LOL). That time will go to my working out and family time! Yippee! although I love what I do for them/with them/ and as a result for and with my daughter, which is why I got involved.

Anyway, yesterday ended up being much busier than I had anticipated my "day off" and I did not get in my long run.. it fell off the schedule. Oh I didn't want it to, but I just didn't know what else would give. With the weather looming and fear of loosing power, I wanted to get as much done as I could.

But God is Good and I've been given the gift of time this morning. I woke up early to finish the job I didn't get done last night, because I was helping my son finish his rocket for scouts... and trying to get some things set around here for a power outage.. batteries, water, baths for everyone LOL.. hey if the power goes out.. we could go a few days (-:

So with that job all complete I had time for a run this morning! 5 miles on the treadmill!!! I'm so excited. too me a while 16 minutes a mile.. but I did it!!! I loath that the treadmill takes me so long to do.. I'm not a fast runner anyways.. but I find I'm more willing to walk on the treadmill I think. I'm exited I got the 5 miles in.

This morning I'm going to cook my kids a hot breakfast as they are off school due to weather and we still have power and one of my jobs that I contract for is offline... So a leisurely day for us here with no after school activities, I won't have to play coach today or chauffeur, no cub scouts.. maybe will work more on the rocket today. I do have a large job to do but I'd normally be doing in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.. so that's another blessing! and more family time tonight!!!

Even if we do have to loose power.. sometimes its a blessing.
