Love/Hate relationship w/scales!

Friday, March 14, 2008

AFter hating my scales for the last 3 weeks (almost did some scale tossing last week) today I love my scale!!!

Down 2.5lbs this week - finally have gotten over the plateau - and am starting to go down. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new trend.

Went out and bought a new dress blouse - didn't have to go to the larger woman's section - been a long time since I have been able to do that. Not as small as I want but certainly better than before. Would have liked to wait longer to buy new clothes but the cruise is only 3 weeks away and I can't keep putting off buying new stuff - certainly can't wear all my baggy clothing. Have to go to Tall Girl's to get some dress pants next.

Congratulations on the weight loss and the new clothes. What a milestone to be able to shop in the "regular" clothing section. Good work!

DR'S APPT - BLOOD TESTS

Thursday, March 13, 2008

Went for my physical today - Dr. had results from my blood tests last week. It seems I may have a "sluggish" thyroid. This may help to explain why even when I'm good and exercise I'm still not losing the weight I should.

Potassium is too high - not sure what I can do about that. She gave me a list of high potassium foods and I hardly eat anything on the list - stopped eating bananas especially over two months ago. Bad cholesterol is much improved - but strangely enough - good cholesterol has dropped dramatically. The results for cholesterol and potassium puzzled her - is making me go to have the blood tests done again.

Have to go for an electrocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) - seems this is a major symptom of Marfan's Syndrome which they now feel I may have as a result of my eye tests! What next - sometimes I feel like I'm falling apart at 51.

Good news - she is very happy with weight loss - down about 25-30 since I last saw her. Blood pressure is improved as well.

I hope the new tests are clarify what is going on with your body. It sounds like you have a doctor who is staying on top of everything.

LOVIN' THIS SUNNY WEDNESDAY

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

The sun is shining - snow is melting - it is a beautiful day. Really starting to feel like Spring may actually arrive some time this year. I'm going to take advantage of the sun and go for a walk outside - sunshine in the face is the best medicine for the winter blues.

Was really good yesterday - did my cardio and my strength exercises last night. Sometimes find it hard to get up and start doing them but when I do - I end up doing more than I planned - it feels good once you get going. Have to go to the Doctor's tomorrow for the yearly physical - not the highlight of my life - but it means I don't go into work until late making it a shorter workday - always a silver lining to the cloud!

EYE ULTRASOUND

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Yes, you read right - they do ultrasounds on your eyes!!! This was my second one and much better than the first one. They have new technology now so it wasn't as bad. They put an anesthetic in your eyes to deaden the feeling and then they move a wand with a camera on it over your eyes - a little pressure but not too bad.

Started out with him saying everything looked good and then oh! ughm! Asked what that meant and told me I would have to wait and talk to the surgeon that referred me to him - he would be the better person to read the results - so I'm not holding my breath for good news.

Have to look at bright side - got to leave work at 2!

Monday blues

Monday, March 10, 2008

The Monday after the clocks change has got to be the worst. I'm so tired and when I'm tired I just want to keep munching. Thought I would type this - keep the fingers busy - can't eat while you are typing!

My daughter is coming over for dinner tonight (well, really to do her laundry). It will be nice to see her - she only lives a few blocks away but we hardly ever see her.

Tomorrow I have to go all the way to Mississauga to have another ultrasound done on my eyes. That is the closest place that has the machine that can do this test. Since I can't drive - hubby will have to take me out there. It's at 3:30 so we will get stuck in the heavy rush hour traffic coming back into Hamilton. Not looking forward to that.

Time to get back to work...

I agree about the time change. I slept in a little this morning as well. I wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow with your ultrasound. All us lasses are thinking about you. Take care of yourself. Great job on the pound loss this week as well. :)
