30th Class Reunion - GOAL!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Ok, we got notification yesterday that my husband's 30th class reunion is June 12th! I am SO not ready for this! Ok, I'm going to buckle down and really make this happen. I am going to set some big time goals and I would like my SP friends to hold me accountable for these goals (please!). They did not have a 25th, so I have not seen some of these people in 10 years and about 9 years ago is when I started putting on all the weight. Here are the goals for right now:

1) Lose 30 lbs by June 12th! emoticon
2) Carefully watch portion control and log everything single thing I put in my mouth! emoticon
3) Work out 6 days a week. Take Saturdays off to refuel. Do more than just my bootcamp videos - add extra cardio! emoticon

Here's my weight goals:

192: 2/17/2010 - starting weight today
190: 2/22/2010 - 191.4 (boo 1.4 lbs down from goal... I will hopefully make it up this coming week!)
190: 3/1/2010 - 2lbs behind but I did at least lose 1.6 lbs this week!
186: 3/8/2010 - 189. Now 3 lbs behind my goal. Maybe need to rethink goals!?!
184: 3/15/2010
182: 3/22/2010 (birthday goal!)
180: 3/29/2010
178: 4/5/2010
176: 4/12/2010
174: 4/19/2010
172: 4/26/2010
170: 5/3/2010
168: 5/10/2010
166: 5/17/2010
164: 5/24/2010
162: 5/31/2010
160: 6/7/2010

32 lbs until June 12th! That's the goal! emoticon

Thanks so much for your goodie! giving me one just because I left a note saying I needed support!! What a sweetheat you are!! So, I am going to give you support on your weight loss and keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you lose weight to wear that great dress for the reunion. However, just remember that you will look and feel great no matter how much you weigh just because of who you are - and like someone else said - all of you will be that much older!!

However, with all that healthy eating and exercise you will look emoticon!
Good luck on your continued weight loss!
Take Care and God Bless!

Wow Leslie! Your motivation is impressive. I like how you just wrote all that down for the whole world to see. When I think of doing such a thing it scares me to death of failure. But, what I'm hearing from you and many others on spark is that FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! SO, that being said, pump up the cardio and go for it!

I agree with the sexy dress - make your husband only look at you! But, you'll be surprised by how "old" everyone looks! LOL BTW, it's been 36 years since I was in high school - dang, how did that happen! emoticon

What a great way to get yourself motivated. Maybe you can find a sexy dress online that you can post up as a visual or some pictures from the last reunion.
You can do it. We will be with you the whole way.

Wonderful concert & time with daughter & mom!

Sunday, February 07, 2010

After a few scary, hesitant moments yesterday my Mom & I decided to go ahead and brave the winter weather! It was snowing to beat the band! We thought about not going but we had so been looking forward to my daughter, Lauren's concert with Neal E Boyd for months now. It was so weird, we got about 25 miles away from our home town and there was absolutely NO SNOW whatsoever! It just rained the whole way there (3 hours drive). After we got there we got to visit with Lauren and 2 of her roomies for about an hour then checked into our hotel. Which was so very nice!!!

Then we all went out to eat --- I did fairly well on the calories. emoticon As we were coming out of the restaurant the storm had caught up to us! We had to slowly get back to our hotel room, change and get to the concert hall. I let my mother out at the door and then had to park over a mile away and walk in sleet & snow, again coming down to beat the band! And in new Killer Boots! We had to rush to our seats & I was able to get a couple of dark blurry pictures in the auditorium, but they don't allow cameras or recording devices during the performance. boo. SO NO good pics at all.

But to the AWESOME emoticon good part! The concert consisted of 8 pieces with Neal singing along with the orchestra for 4 of them. They included: Nessun Dorma, songs from Westside Story, selections from the Sound of Music, Chess and Ave Maria. My absolute favorite was the orchestra doing a selection of songs from Phantom of the Opera! That was so great and I was crying throughout most of it. My daughter plays the flute & the piccolo. There were several spots during the selections that the piccolo was playing semi solo and I could really hear her playing. I just had chills throughout the whole performance. I am so proud of her and what she has accomlished!

It was such a wonderful weekend and I enjoyed so much hearing her performance and spending time with her and my mother!

So proud of my daughter!

Wednesday, February 03, 2010

I have a daughter, aged 22, in her 4th year of college... we tease her that she is on the 10 year plan...! emoticon but actually she changed her major from nursing to Music Education midstream. So she now has to go 6 years instead of 4. But that's ok. She is doing what she LOVES!

She tried out for wind symphony orchestra 2 years and didn't make it. But then this year she made it! What great timing... she is going to be part of the orchestra that will be accompanying Neal E. Boyd (winner of last year's "America's Got Talent" show). He is a wonderful opera singer with such passion and soul. He is actually from the town I was born in, Sikeston, Missouri! and went to High School with 2 of my cousins! I cried every time I watched him on TV so I can't imagine how wonderful it will be to hear him sing Friday night along with my daughter playing in the orchestra accompanying him!

She texted me tonight that he will be in Cape Girardeau on Thursday and that they will have reshearsals with him that night. How awesome is that! I told her, you can always say you played with someone who was a millionaire! Plus a Christian! If you have never heard him sing, I am sure you can do a search for him on Utube. I don't think we are supposed to post links to other sites on our blogs.?

This will be my reward of the month to go there and hear her performance and get to enjoy a wonderful night! Plus I am going tomorrow night and buying a new outfit (with my new weight!) to wear!

I am currently doing 3 different challenges. I sure hope I haven't over extended myself!
1) MY SP Class team is doing a "Getting ready for Spring Challenge"! I am so excited for this one. I am working as a team leader for this one, so I will have to really make myself accountable!
2) I enjoyed doing Bootcamp so much that a group of us are continuing on doing this! I felt like 30 days of it just got me started. It was a great way to really jump start me into excercising every day!
3) And my team "40 somethings with 50-99 lbs to lose" is doing daily mini challenges. Those have been great!

Some of my personal goals I want to achieve for the next 60 days are:
1) Log onto SP every single day and log every meal and fitness minute!
2) Eat 5-7 fruits & vegies every day!
3) Getting more sleep!
4) Do more workouts on the weekend - I have a tendacy to be lazy on the weekends.
5) Cut down on the diet cola that I drink. I have now been smoke free for 8 months so I can do this also!
Ok, enough for now...really really going to bed now!

Sharing the lifestyle with my Girl Scouts!

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Well, I made it through DAY 25 of bootcamp and onto Day 26! I have achieved some goals & not quite made some others. I haven't really lost much weight after starting this.. which has been quite depressing. But I also haven't taken any of my measurements. I had decided not to do any measurements until the last day of bootcamp, so I can only hope those can reflect all my hard work!

I feel like I am making a big difference though, my pants seem to be much looser and I am a lot more energetic! I wanted to try to get up early & do my workouts before work, but that has not happened. I have never been a morning person, so I guess that is one thing that I just am not able to achieve! I'm too much of a night owl!

But... good things... I have been a Girl Scout leader for 16 years! Started off with my oldest daughter's troop when they were daisy's and continued with my youngest daughter's troop also when they were daisy's. My current troop which started 11 years ago is still going strong! We have 6 young ladies between the ages of 15-17 years old! I am so proud of them continuing on with this. There have been several over the years who have dropped out unfortunately.

We have currently been working on 2 badges.. "Healthy Women" and "Creative Cooking". I so enjoy sharing with these girls the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. Making good choices for food, excercise and life choices! We did an awesome activity tonight where we made fruit kabobs & talked about the food pyramid and calories, etc. They really loved doing this and took fruit home with them for tomorrow's lunch.

I'm so proud of how these girls are progressing as teenagers. We are all getting ready to work on our Gold Awards which is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve.

I am looking forward to participating in their last 2 years as Girl Scouts but also sad at the same time!

I like how you're focusing on the positive things you've accomplished. It's far more motivating than beating ourselves up over what we didn't accomplish.

This is the age (15-17) when I dropped out of GS, the only girl left in my troop; my mom was my leader from beginning to end. So it is awesome that you are leading a thriving troop. This is the perfect time to work on these 2 topics - these girls will thank you for years to come!
