My Inner Athlete is IN DA HOUSE! LOL

Thursday, August 04, 2011

Well, I've been off work for a week now and have done pretty awesome with my food intake and exercise. I was really worried about getting off track because it seemed I always did better when I was at work. It was the weekends that I have struggled with so with every day being like a weekend, I was concerned. But so far, so good! I'm happy to even report a 2 lb weight loss!

Not only do I want to stay on track, I want to take advantage of this extra time and exercise like crazy. There's been all sorts of things I've been wanting to try...workouts I've wanted to do, but was just plain too busy! But now I have the time! I did an awesome workout yesterday AND mowed my lawn by hand for the exercise. (big for this spoiled girl! emoticon) I think that was the 3rd time I've ever mowed a lawn in my life! And the fact that no one was holding a gun to my head to do it just blows my mind! lol!

I've also gone running like 3 times this last week. *gasp* emoticon I think the last time I even noticed a difference in my endurance already! I feel like Stella and now I've got my groove back! emoticon

The inner athlete in me has finally reappeared! I'm pushing myself to new levels of intensity and have gotten to that point where I WANT to get a sweaty, hard work out in. I WANT to exercise?!! Really?!! KICK A$$!!! emoticon

So I say to my inner athlete, "It's about time! I've MISSED you but knew you were always there. I just had to find you again!"

And to that she says..."BRING IT ON!" emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Fortunately, she doesn't make them very often as its chocolate chips she does mostly which I don't care for..If these came in snaps, I would be all over them like a cheap lover lol.

Just Never Give Up!

Friday, July 29, 2011

When I went to pick my kids up from daycare just the other day, my son could hardly wait to see me. He came running up to me and said, "You have to see what I made today!" He rushed over to his cubby and got out this piece of felt he had made into a cross. Then he tells me, "I made something for daddy's grave. I worked my whole play time on it and never gave up." His eyes just gleamed with pride as he held up his creation. I told him how much I loved it and how proud I was of him. What a sweet heart!!

It was then that I realized that this six year old was onto something that many of us have seemed to of forgotten. As long as you are persistent and just keep trying your hardest, you WILL succeed. Just never give up! It's as simple as that! His young, yet wise words can be applied to so many situations...

When the scale doesn't show you the numbers you want, just never give up! It will move in the right direction if you just keep trying your hardest. Consistency and persistence will pay off!

When the piles of laundry and household chores seem endless, just start tackling them one by one and never give up! You don't have to do it all in one day. Separate the chores into simple tasks and don't let yourself get overwhelmed.

When you don't think you have the energy to make it up that hill at the end of your walk or jog, think to yourself, "Just don't give up!" Take it step by step and put one foot in front of the other. You WILL make it!

When you don't think anything is going your way and life is getting you down, just don't give up! Get yourself out of bed, face the day with a positive attitude, and know that brighter days are ahead!

When you don't know if you'll ever save enough money for that vacation you've been dreaming of, just don't give up! Every penny will add up and good things will come to those who wait. Blessings will come your way!

When you think you can't drink another ounce of water, let out a huge belch, take another gulp, and just don't give up! LOL See, it can be applied to anything here!

Okay, you get my point! If a 6 year old can live by this motto, why can't we?!!!

"Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up." ~Dean Karnazes

GREAT blog! SWEET boy, he just rocks!! Gets it from his mommy no doubt!! This is a motto I take seriously. There are times when I can barely put one foot in front of the other and the pain is unbearable, but to not keep going is no option because the alternatives are much, much worse. I love the way my body feels when its fit and don't want to give that up ever!!
Here is to never giving up on a healthy lifestyle, its what keeps us all rocking!!

It's true - children have so much wisdom - and we need to be reminded sometimes. I'll never forget - EVER - this conversation I had with my grand-daughter (age 5) when she asked me to help her with a mosaic and I said, "Oh, I can't do that. My eyes aren't that great. The only thing I'm good at is music."

And she said, "No, Grammy, you're good at loving!"

It's obvious, Leslie, that you are filling your children with plenty of love.

A Leslie Update ;)

Monday, July 25, 2011

I had a great time on the float trip! We canoed 8 miles down the river and were on the water for around 9 hours! Needless to say, I was worn out by the time we got back to the campsite. I slept like a baby even in the 100 degree weather! We had a great time and I can't wait to do it again next year!

Here's a pic from this weekend. My eyes keep getting drawn to my shoulders and how much slimmer I'm looking all around. Even though the scale isn't showing it, I can SEE the changes in that picture. Seeing it for my own two eyes is so much better than seeing the scale move! Woo hoo for NSV's!

I hope everyone had wondrous weekends! I'm doing my best to get caught up on everything at work before my last day tomorrow. It's going to be SO weird not working here anymore. Change is good, though! I'm going to spread my lil' wings and fly!! emoticon

Fitness update: I'm in 5 challenges now! emoticon The 60 day challenge, the 90 day Fabulous Fitness challenge, a 30 day challenge amongst friends on FB, the hundredpushup challenge with LIVIN2LOVE1 and the twohundredsquats challenge with RUN2MYDREAMS. Overzealous, much? lol So far, I'm doing great at meeting all of my goals and hope I don't let myself get overwhelmed. The good thing about it is that I can have the same set of goals with each challenge. I just have to keep up with my check-ins. With all these people to keep me accountable, there's no way I won't succeed. Failure is NOT an option!! emoticon

You sure are looking FANTABULOUS!! All that working out is paying off in SPADES!! I remember when Mom and I used to go canoeing and camping, was so much fun, so glad you enjoyed it!!
That is one tiring, awesome set of challenges!!! If that doesn't put you in top condition, nothing can!!
I hope they do something special for your last day of work! You are truly reaching for your dreams and that is something that rarely happens for people, but you will do it because you have determination and Spark like no one's business!!
Go, Leslie GO!!

Who's bored?! ME! I guess that means it's time to post a picture blog! lol emoticon

First off, my produce I bought for the week last week next to my lover, Mr. Keurig. (the single cup coffee maker that is a.m.a.z.i.n.g!) emoticon

Next, here's a pic of my step-kids by love, as I like to refer to them as. They're Chris's kids and we are still close and hang out often. Last time we hung out was the 4th of July. I took them hiking and this is the moment I caught in time--AnnaBelle's ability to text while hiking! I don't know how much scenery she actually took in. LOL

And here's one more of my boys!! Here's my son, Kyler and my boyfriend, Ray. Kyler was not actually drinking a beer, that's mine. ;) lol

Ray does so well with the kids and they're really digging having a father figure back in their lives. I kinda am, too. emoticon

Well, I'm off! I'm leaving here shortly for my float trip! AND...only 2 MORE days of work left!!!!! emoticon emoticon

AWESOME photos!! I see people all over walking and texting, from young ones to grandmas!! I can't get over the fact they never seem to run into things or trip over uneven things on the ground!!
That produce looks delicious!!
Enjoy your float trip! Can't wait for those photos!!

    Leslie,
You are so cute how you mentioned it wasn't Kyler's beer! Too funny, I didn't even see a beer, but looked since you mentioned it. LOL I'm sure no one would have thought it was his! That's awesome that Ray and the kids get on so well. Hope you had an awesome float day! emoticon
