When I went to pick my kids up from daycare just the other day, my son could hardly wait to see me. He came running up to me and said, "You have to see what I made today!" He rushed over to his cubby and got out this piece of felt he had made into a cross. Then he tells me, "I made something for daddy's grave. I worked my whole play time on it and never gave up." His eyes just gleamed with pride as he held up his creation. I told him how much I loved it and how proud I was of him. What a sweet heart!!
It was then that I realized that this six year old was onto something that many of us have seemed to of forgotten. As long as you are persistent and just keep trying your hardest, you WILL succeed. Just never give up! It's as simple as that! His young, yet wise words can be applied to so many situations...
When the scale doesn't show you the numbers you want, just never give up! It will move in the right direction if you just keep trying your hardest. Consistency and persistence will pay off!
When the piles of laundry and household chores seem endless, just start tackling them one by one and never give up! You don't have to do it all in one day. Separate the chores into simple tasks and don't let yourself get overwhelmed.
When you don't think you have the energy to make it up that hill at the end of your walk or jog, think to yourself, "Just don't give up!" Take it step by step and put one foot in front of the other. You WILL make it!
When you don't think anything is going your way and life is getting you down, just don't give up! Get yourself out of bed, face the day with a positive attitude, and know that brighter days are ahead!
When you don't know if you'll ever save enough money for that vacation you've been dreaming of, just don't give up! Every penny will add up and good things will come to those who wait. Blessings will come your way!
When you think you can't drink another ounce of water, let out a huge belch, take another gulp, and just don't give up! LOL See, it can be applied to anything here!
Okay, you get my point! If a 6 year old can live by this motto, why can't we?!!!
"Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up." ~Dean Karnazes

I had a great time on the float trip! We canoed 8 miles down the river and were on the water for around 9 hours! Needless to say, I was worn out by the time we got back to the campsite. I slept like a baby even in the 100 degree weather! We had a great time and I can't wait to do it again next year!
Here's a pic from this weekend. My eyes keep getting drawn to my shoulders and how much slimmer I'm looking all around. Even though the scale isn't showing it, I can SEE the changes in that picture. Seeing it for my own two eyes is so much better than seeing the scale move! Woo hoo for NSV's!
I hope everyone had wondrous weekends! I'm doing my best to get caught up on everything at work before my last day tomorrow. It's going to be SO weird not working here anymore. Change is good, though! I'm going to spread my lil' wings and fly!!
Fitness update: I'm in 5 challenges now! The 60 day challenge, the 90 day Fabulous Fitness challenge, a 30 day challenge amongst friends on FB, the hundredpushup challenge with LIVIN2LOVE1 and the twohundredsquats challenge with RUN2MYDREAMS. Overzealous, much? lol So far, I'm doing great at meeting all of my goals and hope I don't let myself get overwhelmed. The good thing about it is that I can have the same set of goals with each challenge. I just have to keep up with my check-ins. With all these people to keep me accountable, there's no way I won't succeed. Failure is NOT an option!!

Who's bored?! ME! I guess that means it's time to post a picture blog! lol
First off, my produce I bought for the week last week next to my lover, Mr. Keurig. (the single cup coffee maker that is a.m.a.z.i.n.g!)
Next, here's a pic of my step-kids by love, as I like to refer to them as. They're Chris's kids and we are still close and hang out often. Last time we hung out was the 4th of July. I took them hiking and this is the moment I caught in time--AnnaBelle's ability to text while hiking! I don't know how much scenery she actually took in. LOL
And here's one more of my boys!! Here's my son, Kyler and my boyfriend, Ray. Kyler was not actually drinking a beer, that's mine. ;) lol
Ray does so well with the kids and they're really digging having a father figure back in their lives. I kinda am, too.
Well, I'm off! I'm leaving here shortly for my float trip! AND...only 2 MORE days of work left!!!!!

Quick bits of awesomeness I've done this week...
I made some delicious chicken on the grill the other night! I also made potatoes with peppers and onions and served up some yummy sweet corn! I knew dinner was a success when my son told me, "Mommy, if you want to work again, you can cook at a restaurant because your food is really yummy."
I've completed my 1st two days of the hundredpushup challenge. Yep, this is my 2nd, (ookk 3rd) attempt at it! lol It's crazy hard but so far, so good! I completed 80 pushups my first day and 86 the 2nd! Not going to take me long to get to 100 if I keep this up! Thanks LIVIN2LOVE1 for taking me up on this challenge! We CAN do this!!
I went to Walmart to buy some shorts for this HOT weather we've been having, (last summer's are WAY too big now! WOOT) Every pair I bought were size mediums! YEP, m-e-d-i-u-m-s!
And today, the boss started carrying in office chairs and wall hangings. I went right out there and started helping!! They said, "Oh Leslie, you don't have to do this!" To which I replied, "That's ok, I want the exercise!" I carried in a few loads and definitely got some ST and cardio in! Will the real Leslie please step forward?!!
Anyways, this weekend I'm going on a float trip! It's going to be hot, but FUN! I plan to do lots of swimming in the river! I'll be stocking up on fruit and healthy snacks to bring and looking for ways to incorporate exercise into my mini-vaca. I'm not going to lose the progress I've made this last week! Buuuttt...if I were offered a s'more, I would not refuse!
Stay awesome, my friends! Have a fabulous weekend and stay cool!! We are in an excessive heat advisory until the end of next week! Crazy!

So you may have seen my status announcing my resignation from my current job. In case you missed it I've put in my notice to the boss and my last day is a week from today!
I'm both excited and very nervous at the same time. This is the start of a whole new career path and I'm leaving my comfort zone behind! I'm ready, though!!! Yes, I'm taking a huge risk in leaving my current job with the economy like it is but I'm doing what I know has never failed me before---I'm following my heart! I'm depending on God to see me through this and I know He will!! Thank you in advance for your support! Please, only encouraging words, though! What's done is done! Time to look forward and concentrate on this new path I'm taking!
So now it's time for graduate school!! Enrollment started today and classes start in a month! I can't believe I'm finally going back to school! Crazy exciting! I'll be concentrating on gerontology and grief counseling, hoping to decide between the two options once classes start and I meet more with my advisor. When all is completed and I've successfully obtained my degree, I'm looking at doubling my current salary and finding the one thing I've so desperately been searching for--fulfillment!
“And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.” ~Abraham Lincoln
And now...it's on to bigger and better things! I may be a little scared, my nerves may be a little rattled, but one thing I'm certain of is that I CAN and WILL make it through this and WILL end up on top!! WISH ME LUCK!
