Quick bits of awesomeness I've done this week...

I made some delicious chicken on the grill the other night! I also made potatoes with peppers and onions and served up some yummy sweet corn! I knew dinner was a success when my son told me, "Mommy, if you want to work again, you can cook at a restaurant because your food is really yummy."

I've completed my 1st two days of the hundredpushup challenge. Yep, this is my 2nd, (ookk 3rd) attempt at it! lol It's crazy hard but so far, so good! I completed 80 pushups my first day and 86 the 2nd! Not going to take me long to get to 100 if I keep this up! Thanks LIVIN2LOVE1 for taking me up on this challenge! We CAN do this!!

I went to Walmart to buy some shorts for this HOT weather we've been having, (last summer's are WAY too big now! WOOT) Every pair I bought were size mediums! YEP, m-e-d-i-u-m-s!

And today, the boss started carrying in office chairs and wall hangings. I went right out there and started helping!! They said, "Oh Leslie, you don't have to do this!" To which I replied, "That's ok, I want the exercise!" I carried in a few loads and definitely got some ST and cardio in! Will the real Leslie please step forward?!!

Anyways, this weekend I'm going on a float trip! It's going to be hot, but FUN! I plan to do lots of swimming in the river! I'll be stocking up on fruit and healthy snacks to bring and looking for ways to incorporate exercise into my mini-vaca. I'm not going to lose the progress I've made this last week! Buuuttt...if I were offered a s'more, I would not refuse!

Following my Heart

So you may have seen my status announcing my resignation from my current job. In case you missed it I've put in my notice to the boss and my last day is a week from today!

I'm both excited and very nervous at the same time. This is the start of a whole new career path and I'm leaving my comfort zone behind! I'm ready, though!!! Yes, I'm taking a huge risk in leaving my current job with the economy like it is but I'm doing what I know has never failed me before---I'm following my heart! I'm depending on God to see me through this and I know He will!! Thank you in advance for your support! Please, only encouraging words, though! What's done is done! Time to look forward and concentrate on this new path I'm taking!

So now it's time for graduate school!! Enrollment started today and classes start in a month! I can't believe I'm finally going back to school! Crazy exciting! I'll be concentrating on gerontology and grief counseling, hoping to decide between the two options once classes start and I meet more with my advisor. When all is completed and I've successfully obtained my degree, I'm looking at doubling my current salary and finding the one thing I've so desperately been searching for--fulfillment!

And now...it's on to bigger and better things! I may be a little scared, my nerves may be a little rattled, but one thing I'm certain of is that I CAN and WILL make it through this and WILL end up on top!! WISH ME LUCK!

A Fabulous Friday!!

Today was a fabulous Friday! I really wasn't feeling like doing any sort of exercise today but pleasantly surprised myself by busting out my best work out yet!

I really wanted to try out my new toy I just got--a new HRM!! YESS!! I took it for a spin by trying some HIIT (high intensity interval training) and ended up burning 378 calories in just under 30 minutes. WOOT!

I also got a foam roller and did some stretching. It felt sooo gooood.

I even did some gardening which I'm sure burned some calories. Chris's memorial had several weeds growing around it when I visited him today so I took some time cleaning that up. I also discovered that his flowers had really faded a lot in this hot summer sun so I went to the craft store and got some new ones. Other than getting attacked by a bunch of ants while replacing them, it turned out looking nice. I'm sure he was laughing at me while I floundered around swatting at ants, LOL! Hey, maybe that burned some extra calories, too! ;)

I'm sure he's thrilled about the purple but you know what, I'm the boss around here! hehe. Plus, it matched his neighbor. LOL! Yes, I'm weird like that!



Also, I posted this pic in my 90 day challenge tonight. We were challenged to post a pic of us all hot and sweaty after a workout. I took mine as soon as I got in the door from my HIIT.



Think I'm close to matching my shirt?!! Hot...check! Sweaty...check! Feeling great?!--CHECKITY CHECK!!

Well, I signed up for a new challenge on facebook. I was invited by my awesome friend RUN2MYDREAMS and I think I'm going to LOVE it!


It's basically the same challenge I was doing, (so I can keep my same goals), but instead of just self-fulfillment as rewards, there's actually prize $!!


So yesterday was Day 1 of my 90 day challenge and Day 4 of my other one! I've pretty much just combined the 2 challenges into 1 and will do my best to update in both teams.


Yesterday's recap: I took the kids swimming and did lots of treading water while they played. I also swam laps for 20 minutes during the adult swim and let me tell ya, it felt amazing! I was just gliding through that water and felt like I was young and on the swim team again! I'm definitely going to pursue this passion more!


I also got in my daily push-ups by completing 40 of them!


I drank 72 oz of water!


AND....I tried a new, clean recipe which turned out DELISH! I basically just threw all this stuff together and didn't follow a recipe! (I just worked from memory of one I saw here on SP.) A big 1st for this non-cook! It turned out AWESOME and I was pretty proud of myself for that!


Here's a pic of it! It was just steak tips, red and orange bell peppers, onions, and pineapple! You add the pineapple juice too and let it marinate in that...giving it some great flavor! Just a hint of seasoning salt and served over white rice! YUMMO!




So I'd say my Day 1 of this challenge was a success!


I can't wait to see what today brings!

Tomorrow is a BIG day for me!!!

I've worked in the same job for 6 years now, and for the past 6 years I've been waiting for that day to tell the boss to stuff it! Hey, don't we all have those secret fantasies?!!

Tomorrow is THAT day!

Now IS the time! The stars are aligning and I just KNOW it!

I'm ready for this new saga in my life!

(oookkk, I'm not exactly going to tell her to "stuff it" but you get the picture!! Wish me luck!!)
