Mooooving on Up!

Sunday, May 24, 2009

So yesterday... well, yesterday and part of this morning (*eyeroll*) we moved some more stuff! Now, all my books, DVDs, yarn, fabric and a lot of my art stuff is at the new place. Which pretty much equals all my distractions are there! Well, except the ratlings. And Aaron.

I unpacked all those boxes of books into my enormous closet (YAY) so I could reuse those nice sturdy, medium sized boxes to pack today. I also unpacked about four kitchen boxes! I put stuff away for a good hour and a half last night (um, this morning)! So, just having stuff IN the cabinets at the new place makes me :D I really like this new apt.

I've got my fabric in my closet on the built in shelves in there. It worked out sooooo well! They are in their canvas bins, out of the way but all tidy. There was room for two yarn baskets (I have three... I know!) and my sewing machine on those shelves, too. It's temporary until my new bed is done being made (by Aaron assisting our friend Scott, who is a whiz with wood/tools) and I can use ALL the storage space in those built in drawers. SO excited!

I love all the storage space I have in this place.
And all the ELECTRICAL OUTLETS! My last two apartments had like 25% the amount of plugs I needed which = extension cordville. Not good!

I'll have to post pics once the place is pretty since you all dealt with my whining. ;)
Things are rolling. YAY!

I only have to work three days next week, I took off Thur and Fri in addition to my usual weekend to pack and move. So, I think I'm in pretty good shape? Going to pack some more stuff today and still REALLY need to get my donations to a thrift store. Sigh. Probably Thursday once Aaron is off work and can go with me.

Gotta shower, go home and pill Norman and give Jenna her heart meds, then it's pack pack pack, move move move. Oh, and NOM NOM NOM. I'm hungry!

Yaay! I am so glad you are feeling the happy parts of the move!
It's great that you will have some time off work to get some more stuff done.
How cool to have a bed specially made for you!

Okay, first of all, go eat something! Then give yourself a pat on the back and a hug from me. You are doing so awesome :D Go Pook Go! * is in full-on cheerleading mode now! *

Looking forward to seeing lots of pictures of the new place. How is your bed frame coming along?

You are just unstoppable!

Altho I'm willing to bet I've got far more storage space than you, it's far less than I had. Which is why I'm STILL unpacking 3 weeks later. But we are getting there. Then we just have to decide where things really ought to live!

And yarn . . . haven't touched it. Way more than 3 baskets, I assure you.

Still missing some stuff that isn't critical, but important to me -- things like my makeup brushes.

Ah well. Hope your move continues smoothly. Sounds like it's going well!

Norman/Moving Update

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Norman's looking pretty good. We got into my lovely vet (YAY, Doctor McSteamy - as my old roomie used to call him. He's pretty attractive. Heh.) and Normie got a urinalysis (blood, bacteria, some crystals), sub q fluids (now you can call him Hunchback) and is on an antibiotic plus his cosequin supplement daily.

Recheck in three weeks to see if the crystals go away with the infection. Hopefully he'll clear up quickly.

Looks like my Revolution shipped on Wednesday, so Jack's that much closer to mite relief. He's got some scabs on his neck that look just AWFUL. Poor baby. :( He's not itchy, though, so that's good. He's his normal licky bouncy crazy baby self. So that's good.

Packed up most of my kitchen yesterday evening. Finally got a hold of Aaron last night (he couldn't hear his phone and got confused why I hadn't called yet... and then saw three missed calls from me, oops) and we took over two carloads of boxes. Not huge carloads as we just used his little hatchback and my Civic but there are boxes IN the new apartment now! WOOT. Going to run another load over tonight, unpack my books onto the floor and bring those boxes back to reuse.

Looks like Aaron's folks want to help me move some stuff tomorrow. Have I mentioned I LOVE his family? I do. A lot. So, we'll at least borrow their van and move some of the bigger stuff tomorrow. The less I have to do when my folks get here next weekend, the better. Then mom can help me clean the old place and unpack at the new! Oh, and we can SHOP for new apt. stuff! LOL.

Pretty excited to see my mom, actually.
If she doesn't completely flip her sh** (I got yelled at for profanity? LOL whut?) when she sees me, I'll cry. Probably. Heh.

At my weigh in this morning I'm at 160.7, I've lost about 14 lbs. I'm only about 10 lbs from my first goal. 149 would put me at a normal BMI for the first time EVER. I'm at about 26.8 right now. So. Close. I'm also tempted to go to a store and see if I'm a size 8 now. I think I'm close!

Then we'll see if I can get to the 22 BMI range. Pttth. 135 seems so tiny! I can't even imagine myself that small. Heck, under 150 seems tiny! I'll plotz when I hit 149. Heh. If I could ever wear a size 6, I'd wet myself. Then do back flips. ;)

So, generally feeling better now.
Having acted on both my problems makes them less daunting.
I can do it! I can do it!

Glad to hear you could get into your vet. Don't put too much weight on what your Mom does/doesn't say/think/whatever.

My mom always notices my weight, and hadn't seen me in a year (I'd lost 25 lbs) -- and it took her til the end of her visit to even mention. Luckily, I'd already dialed down my expectations before she came up.

Good luck with the move. I am still digging out . . .

Big * hugs * for Norman and Jack; I'm so glad to hear that they're both doing better. And hooray for having a positive chain of events start going....I wonder what other good bits of news you've gotten today :D

And a well-deserved congrats on your weight loss success, dear!

Want to Cry

Friday, May 22, 2009

So, not only am I stressed out from moving and my lack of motivation (book case, DVD rack and some random crafty stuff is packed) NOW my foster cat, Norman, has a bladder infection and is urinating blood. It's probably the stress of me packing (jeez, I've barely done anything!) but it's just one more thing for me to worry about!

Now I have try to get him into a vet (on Memorial Day weekend!) and get him on antibiotics, cosequin each day and feed him special broth meals to keep his fluids up. Great. I mean, I'd do anything for the animals in my care, don't get me wrong, but pilling a cat WHILST trying to not go insane from moving is not my idea of fun times. Plus, I'm worried that he's sicker than we think. :/ He seems totally normal, not lethargic, eating and drinking, grooming... he's just wandering from box to box tinkling a bit and then leaving. No straining, yowling, etc. to indicate he's blocked.

Hopefully a vet is open or it's off the the e-vet we go. Joy.
If I go that route, I'm going to be so late for work. Sigh. :(
Fingers crossed that Como, Grand or Hudson Rd. are open.

I'm thisclose to breaking down and sobbing.
Plus, my SO offered to help me move some boxes tonight and he's not answering his dang phone. AND we watched Stargate SG1 last night only to have them KILL my favorite character! ARGH.

*deep calming breaths*
At least my workout was good today and all this stress hasn't affected my calories. I'm still within ranges and haven't gone on a food bender. This is all good.

Still... really? Another thing to deal with?
Plus, I think baby Jack has mites. Sigh. So I'm waiting for the Revolution I ordered to come so I can dose the kitties and all the ratlings. Mites are no biggie but, once again, ANOTHER thing I don't need in my life. Now I can worry about Jack AND Norman.

Iz it can be done with moving time nao?

I'm sending lots of healing thoughts to sweet Norman. I'm so, so sorry that both of you are going through this in any circumstances, let alone during your packing & moving process. * hugs *

I hope you were able to find an open vet, but I know from experience that the folks at your E-vet do good work, too. Please keep us updated if you can. I also hope that Aaron came through with lots and lots of help for you!

How's little Jack doing today?

I am so sorry about Norman -- I hope you were able to get into the vet. Which reminds I really need to choose a new vet BEFORE there's a problem.

I can't imagine dealing with that AND moving. You definitely have my vibes for an easy move & healthy animals!

Aww, so sorry to hear about your kitty... emoticon

Maybe this is all a sign that you need to slow down rather than speed up. Stop and focus on the fur-babies. They love you no matter where you live or how quickly you pack. :)
Maybe lower your standards and throw non-breakables into labeled trash bags to buy yourself some time and sanity...? I know, I know...this is all easy for me to say. :-/

Message to Mr. Boyfriend: Hug Leona like a zillion times and then pack for her! Every free moment you have! k thx bai! :)

Moving =/= Fun

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

I'm moving really soon (end of May!) and have packed virtually nothing.
This is Badness. I keep thinking "I don't have that much stuff, really, and most of it is already self contained in bins/baskets/drawers" and then I put off packing another day.

While it is true that a lot of my stuff IS self contained (I'm a big fan of bins!) I'm ignoring the really huge problematic spots. Like my main closet. And kitchen (ugh).

I managed to get a burst of motivation last night and packed up my whole bookcase. It took four absolutely enormous boxes to do it. And now those boxes each weight about 75 lbs. And I was up until 2 am doing it since my motivation happened at midnight. Sigh.

To reiterate, I am doomed.

I need to pack up non-essential kitchen items tonight and perhaps my DVDs.
I have off this Thursday so I can finally drop off stuff I'm donating at the ARC thrift store. I need to go through some bins/closets before then to see if I have more stuff I don't want, though, so I'm not making dual runs to Minneapolis. I'm not sure if all the stuff will fit in my car as it is. Hrm. I should check if they do pick ups... hrmmmmm...

I hate moving. So much.

Aww, good luck with the motivation. Maybe do some speed-packing (or dance-packing?) as your exercise for the week....?

You're not doomed; you're just getting in your motivation groove a little later in the game than you'd like, LOL!

* hugs * You can do it! I wish I could help you move like you helped me (twice!!) while I was in the Cities... :(

I hear ya! I have gotten past the "omg I need to pack" stage, and am now in the "omg I need to unpack, and where the holy hell is _blank_?!!?" stage.

Though... we started packing up stuff and putting it into storage last July. LOL! Still, even filling a whole 5' x 10' storage unit, we still had a crap-ton of stuff to pack!

At least I have my internets back. :D

Good luck!!! :D

I'd say buy a bunch of sandwich fixings or a few pizzas and call all of your friends to help. Misery loves company or what's that other saying - "many hands make light work". The second one sounds more positive. So make it a packing party and have some fun with it!

As someone who just went thru it (is still going thru it!) -- I'm right there with you.

You may want to repack those books in smaller boxes. I have a lot of books, and they packed them in the smallest boxes -- but books are really heavy. I can't move most of the book boxes, and I'm pretty strong.

Today's Run

Monday, May 18, 2009

So, I did another "run" today.

Shaved 30 seconds off my first mile time. :D I did it in 9:30 this time.
Heh, sadly, my second mile was 30 seconds longer than last time at 11 minutes. So, I just tossed that 30 seconds over into the second mile, I guess. *eyeroll* Still, 9:30 for a mile is great! I wanted to totally die and vomit, not necessarily in that order, but I did it!

I was really feeling my ankles hurting on mile two, I need to warm up more I think. I also basically biked home at a pretty good clip, fed the cats, scritched the rats and then put on my running clothes and hit the pavement. So, I may have been tired from biking since I had maybe 5 minutes in between getting home and heading out to run.

Came in and did the intro kettlenetics video. Wow. I can tell this is going to be hardcore! Excellent.

It was getting a bit late, so I cooked up my dinner. Lemon tempeh, steamed organic zucchini and yellow squash with a titch of lemon pepper and a lightly seasoned whole wheat couscous. Had some garlic toast, too, since I was light on calories/fats. Finished off with a serving of fruit sweetened Soy Delicious (ZOMG this stuff is amazing! 115 calories and 1.5 fat grams in a delicious, creamy SUPER chocolatey half cup. NOM.) with a bit of vegan marshmallow fluff on top. Mmm... ghetto rocky road.

Just gotta do my bootcamp for today and have a bit more water.
I'm a bit light on fat/protein today but eh. I guess I'll need to start eating Soy Crisps again. Num.

Today was good!
Must. Pack. At Least. ONE. Box.
I move next Friday. OMG, I'm DOOMED!

Good luck with your move. Ours was hard enough with someone else packing the boxes. But the unpacking . . . seems like it will go on forever.
