New Additions to my Fitness DVD collection and Update on Scheduled vs. Actual Workouts

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I know I have not blogged in a while. It has been an hectic week! Board papers, a two day course, working late 3 nights until after 7/8 pm and just being plain tired from before has really take a toll on me. I haven't sparked as much as I used to and by 10:30/11 pm, I actually will fall asleep with television, laptop and light on! I actually look forward to my daily workouts to release some stress. Whew!

So I got my DVDs today from Amazon and another surprise from one of my Beachbody coaches (remember I explained in a previous blog that while Beachbody assigned me a fabulous coach, there are three other coaches that I absolutely love and they are really supportive).

The first is Biggest Loser: Power Walk. It has four low-impact one-mile walking workouts with Bob Harper, Tara Costa and Sione Fa. If I follow the guide, I will walk 27 miles in three weeks but I know I can do all the workouts in one session (4 miles each) so I might be doing 27 miles a lot.
emoticon

The second DVD I got is Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. It combines strength, cardio and abs to blast through calories for a dramatic 30 Day Shred. I am not sure when I will start this workout but I hear about great results from twitter friends who have done it. We will see.

The final addition was from my beachbody coach, Erin as a prize for a fitness/shakeology competition she was having, It is Leandro's Secret Weapon Workout (Brazil Butt Lift). It is a 20 minutes precision toning routine and I did it today and it is BRUTAL!! Wow! I was sweating after the workout and felt it in the 'bum bum' as he calls it and the thighs. Now I have experienced a piece of Brazil Butt Lift, I now want to get the entire collection! *sighs* The addiction never stops!!

BTW, What is up with me and these exotic trainers as of late...Beto and now Leandro! ooh la la! emoticon

Here is an update on my actual workouts vs. scheduled workouts

Scheduled - Sunday ~ Burn It Off (CLX), Ramp It Up (SI6) (without the resistance bands segment)

Actual ~ Burn It Off, Ramp It Up (I did the resistance bands segment but did not use the bands) and Zumba Fitness Cardio Party emoticon

Monday ~ REST DAY

Actual ~ Rest Day

Tuesday ~Push Circuit 1 (CLX), Zumba Fitness 20 minutes Express, Ramp It Up (SI6)

Actual ~Push Circuit 1 and Ramp It up...no Zumba emoticon

Wednesday ~ Ramp It Up (SI6) (without the resistance bands segment)
, Punch, Kick and Jam (TJ)

Actual ~Ramp It Up, Zumba Fitness Cardio Party...no Turbo Jam...I was so tired in the morning, I slept in a little. As a result, I did the 2 workouts in the evening. I didn't think I could manage the intensity of Punch. Kick and Jam after Ramp It Up.

Thursday ~ Push Circuit 2 (CLX), Ramp It Up (SI6)

Actual ~ Push Circuit 2, Zumba Fitness 20 minutes workout, Ramp It Up and Leandro's Secret Weapon Workout emoticon

Not doing so badly.

My goal this weekend is to get lots of rest as I am really tired. It will also be TOM so I might be cranky!

Hope everyone is still pressing play! emoticon

I really want Brazil Butt Lift for my flat butt! Good to hear you liked it and it was tough! I love the BL workouts. I don't have the power walk though. 30 Day Shred is a great workout and I had good results but I hate it now! LOL!

Great workout week. Sometimes, you need the extra sleep. Your body tells you. You don't want to overwork yourself. :)

Happy Friday!

You are doing your thing! I am a exercise DVD junkie. I like the 30 day shred. I don't have the other two DVDs you purchased. I think I'm going to check out that Brazilian Butt Lift DVD. I would imagine that it's tougher than the leg work in SI6, right? I can barely get through that routine.

Keep up the excellent work! You are rockin' it!!!

emoticon I am addicted to exercise dvds too! I love Jillian's 30 day Shred! I have 4 girls so I don't have the time to work out for hours and the shred is only 20 min! Plus like you said...it combines strength, cardio and abs all in one! I have heard alot about the butt lift workouts and want to try em...we will have to see. I hope you have lots of success with these workouts! Have a great weekend! emoticon

I have done a couple of the walks on the BL: Power Walk DVD. They're not bad. The 30 Day Shred is a great workout but I have to warn you that there are jumping jacks with weights on one of the levels.
You are doing a lot with your Latin trainers lately ;-) Whatever gets the blood pumping ;-)
Definitely get some rest this weekend!! Hopefully it won't be a cranky one but I know you have absolutely no control over it.

Wow, that is fantastic, sounds like you are doing awesome. I love CLX! I am on the Lean month and when I am done, I am going to start Insanity-the asylum. I totally understand the coach thing because I am a beachbody coach myself and when I first signed up I had some that I liked and some others that i liked not as much and some that I felt more of a connection with, so I am glad you found ones that you like, that is so important. Good Luck this week! :)

Can Ankles get smaller?? Hmmmm...& a look at the Plan for the Upcoming Week

Saturday, April 09, 2011

Since week, my anklet keeps running down my ankle and rubs against my heel and shoe. I kept adjusting it but then I realized that 'whoa! I have been wearing this anklet since last year and this has never happened. It is gold so it shouldn't be stretching soooo does that mean my ankles are getting smaller? Is that even possible??' emoticon

So I am suppose to be planning my workouts for the upcoming week. My main programme is ChaLEAN Extreme so that is easy as I am following the guide. I am also doing Slim in 6 with some great girls on the SI6 forum. I will have to do some adjustments to these workouts to rest my muscles some days and forgo the crunches because of my back (I will do my back extensions exercise then (McKinsey)). And of course, I need to include my new love Zumba. So here is my first attempt at a schedule:

Sunday ~ Burn It Off (CLX), Ramp It Up (SI6) (without the resistance bands segment)
Monday ~ REST DAY
Tuesday ~Push Circuit 1 (CLX), Zumba Fitness 20 minutes Express, Ramp It Up (SI6)
Wednesday ~ Ramp It Up (SI6) (without the resistance bands segment)
, Punch, Kick and Jam (TJ)
Thursday ~ Push Circuit 2 (CLX), Ramp It Up (SI6)
Friday ~ Ramp It Up (SI6) (without the resistance bands segment)
, Burn Intervals (CLX)
Saturday ~ Push Circuit 3 (CLX). Ramp It Up (SI6), Zumba Fitness Cardio Party

So I guess on Saturday, I will provide an update as to how well I adhered to this schedule. Tuesday and Wednesday may be different because I may have to work very late....have Board papers to prepare for upcoming Board meetings.

Have a great week emoticons

Yes, its possible. I had an anklet that I used to wear in high school. When I gained 50 pounds over the course of 4 years of university, I wasn't able to wear it anymore. Now that I'm smaller again, it fits.

Wow, don't know ankles can be noticeable smaller, one of areas that I don't give too much attention except when pulling up my stockings, hehe.

That looks like a great plan and great time burning more and more, yay!

My New Dilemna...

Thursday, April 07, 2011

Don’t panic just yet. My dilemma is not really all that important.

I am a HUGE Chalene Johnson fan!! I never imagined that I would fall in love with another routine as much as I have with Turbo Jam and ChaLEAN Extreme. Though I am positive that in July/August I will add TurboFire to that list!! emoticon

HOWEVER, here comes Alberto Beto Perez , Tanya and Zumba, creeping into my perfect routine of CLX with a dose of Turbo Jam and a dash of Slim in 6. Now, I can’t get enough Zumba...(another satisfied customer over here!! emoticon emoticon)

But where has my Turbo Jam gone??? I have not done a Turbo Jam routine since I got my Zumba package on Tuesday. I won't even mention Hip Hop Abs...I can't even tell the last time that I did a routine from my once best programme (pre-Chalene)! The Booty Barre that was showing up on my fitness timeline 3 times a week since I started it in March has now been parked on the stand...I haven't touched it since April.

I probably shouldn't mention that two more are on the way: Biggest Loser-Power Walker with Bob Harper et al and Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shred. My coach also sent me a DVD - Yoga Booty Ballet as a back recovery gift (isn't she a doll??)...I haven't even taken off the plastic since I picked it up on Tuesday with my Zumba DVDs.

The truth is I shouldn't be buying more DVDs...well for now anyways... emoticon I can't possible use them all especially when I should be mindful of my back. I can't even let the bf know about this dilemna...I am still hiding the Zumba DVDs from him emoticon

I might just need to develop a schedule to incorporate all these programmes even if I only do a routine from each programme once a month. Might help to shake things up a bit and keep the positive measurements and movements on the scale going!!

Probably, I should really blog about my real dilemna - not getting enough sleep. Probably, I should be getting some rest now instead of writing this blog.
Probably, I spend too much time on SparkPeople when I should be winding down (is it me, or is SP really addictive?)
Probably, if I get enough sleep, then I would sort out my workout 'dilemna'....

Maybe...sleep well everyone!! emoticon

It's good to shake the routine up.
I definitely should go through my old workout DVDs and decide if I should keep them all.
Yes, you should get some sleep. Yes, SparkPeople is that addictive.

My dilemma is normally which of my Jillian Michaels dvds should I do :) You can go by what you feel like doing on the day or make a 2 week schedule or maybe a 4 week schedule with all the stuff you have to fit in :) Hope your workout dilemma didn't keep you awake last night :) emoticon

Sounds like a great dilemma. It's always great to mix it up so you don't get bored. I would just do whatever you feel like doing that day and no matter what you are doing, you are working out, so you should be proud! Good Luck!

Heehee!!! Instant fave, that Zumba, was it... well, don't feel guilty. So you have a Zumba phase! Enjoy it!! I will, through you, because I'm not at all coordinated enough for that, so go dance your butt off and be happy about it. Luckily, DVDs are patient, so everyone else will still be there when you're ready to go back to something else. emoticon emoticon

I just got TurboFire in the mail last week and I'm beginning it on Monday after I buy a new pair of cross trainers and groceries to fit the menu that came with the dvds. I also own Zumba and it is addictive. I even hear the music in my head while I'm at work! Making a schedule seems like the way to go so that you can shake things up a bit and still get your money's worth out of all of your purchases. Just don't buy any more or you'll soon run out of days in the month to do them all.

Glad I lost those 35lbs...

Monday, April 04, 2011

Today I visited my new Physiotherapist. She appears to be very competent and in just one session, gave me a lot of useful information. I was suppose to 'enroll' in 'back school' but she wanted to do an assessment first to determine my needs. After a lengthy conversation about my history of backpain, my weightloss journey, my current exercise programmes etc., she asked me to take off my clothes emoticon Huh???? She needed me to do some movements so she could assess how much damage was done to my back - thus she needed to see the bare back. Ok then...

Last year this time and up to June 2010 (before I started my journey), I would be abashed to take off my clothes BUT today, I had no qualms taking them off even though I had on my big girl panties, knee high stockings and still 15lbs from my birthday goal weight. I am sure it was not a cute picture BUT again....must have provided a better one than 35lbs ago! emoticon. She had me bending over to touch my toes, push my pelvic to each side, lie on my belly and push up with my hands...and at no time, did I feel conscious! It is amazing how losing a little weight can do to your mind! Wow!!

When I told her that I had lost 35lbs, she commended me and told me that was great as the weight probably had contributed the bulging of the disc cartilages in the first place and probably if I still had it on, I would be in worse pain and that I couldn't fathom because the pain I have felt and continue to feel from time to time, is horrible. I can't imagine it being worse!! I was also proud to show her my before and after picture (March 2010 and November 2010) which I always have in my phone...it is my motivation to keep working towards achieving my goal weight emoticon

I will do physio for about 2 weeks (3 times a week) and then I will 'enroll in back school' where I will learn what I can do to care for my back and manage the pain. I am also suppose to bring in all my DVDs so they can watch and tell me which ones I can continue to do that won't cause the discs to bulge further. The good news is that she is not averse about strength training, so we will see.

On another note, my Zumba DVDs are now in Jamaica. I got the message late from the couriers so I will pick them up tomorrow which means I will be shaking my booty in the evening!! emoticon

Wow, Zumba... you'll have to let us know what you think. I know a lot of people really love it. Being somewhat of a klutz, I prefer less choreographed cardio (though I LOVE my step. But, I did fall off it a few times when learning new routines). Then again, it's always good to get inspired, right?

You know, I LOVE your before/after pics, very inspiring!!! emoticon

I hope you will be able to keep most of your exercise DVDs in the rotation.
