Nutrition hurdles and plans

Monday, September 24, 2012

I have to major hurdles when it comes to my diet and nutrition.

First one is that I don't always have the time to prepare and cook meals. I have gotten better about prepping meals and freezing them, but I can't always do that either. So I read the little artical:

ezinearticles.com/?Healthy-Food-Sele
ctions-When-You-Dont-Have-Time-to-Cook
-a-Meal&id=2296906

and have decided that I just have to set aside time to prepare not only whole meals, but healthy snacks too.

My plan will be to:
clean and chop veggies as soon as I get them home.
make some healthy sweets, so that I can eat something sweet if I feel the need.
keep making meals ahead of time as much as possible.

My other hurdle is that sometimes I don't eat enough. I find it hard to get enough calories from the foods that I should be eating, so I read this article:

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on_articles.asp?id=593

My plan to help me with this is to:
Switch to 2% milk instead of skim(when I do drink/use milk).
Add more nuts to meals.
Eat some larger portions of meats and other protiens (eggs, beans, tofu).

Both of these articles will come together in my meal and snack planning to increase my healthy calorie intake!

BLC 20 plan and before pics

Monday, September 17, 2012

My plan for the next 12 weeks to make the round of BLC a success:

1. Eat clean, I wan to cut out as much processed food and sugar as possible. The plan will include eating out as little as possible, quitting the diet coke and meal planning ahead of time. The weekends are the struggle, so I will be rewarding myself for every weekend that I follow my clean eating rules! (no restaurants!!!)

2. Exercise, I have no problem getting my cardio in, but ST is a bit of a problem! I will finish the insanity program! I have already decided I need to modify the schedule and take an extra rest day in the middle of the week...if I don't I will get burned out and never finish it. Also, after I runt he 1/2 marathon in November I will have to modify my cardio workouts as well...I'm thinking it will be a perfect time to switch things up. Maybe add some spinning in...I will reward myself for each ST workout I get in for the next 12 weeks!

3. Track, I have to track my food...I have already figured out where I am having trouble(see eating out above), but I need to keep being honest with myself to be able to keep improving.

My summary:

Eat Clean, no diet coke, no restaurants.
Strength train, keep running, switch up some of the running after race.
Track my food everyday.

Rewards:

For each weekend I stick to my clean eating plan I will plan to pamper myself on monday night DIY style. (Bath, pedi, mani, facial, etc.)
For each strength training workout I will put a $1 in a jar to spend on a new outfit at the end of the 12 weeks.
For every weeks I track all my food I will put fresh flowers on the table for Wed. night's dinner.

Now, for the part you have all been waiting for....

BLC20 goals and such

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

This round I WILL reach my goal weight of 128.

I want to maintain around 130, but really want to see 128 so I can say I 40lbs!!

I will do my absolult best in all BLC weekend challenges. Those are what keep me going in the right direction.

I don't need to say I will eat this many calories and workout this many minutes because I have to adjust my calories weekly depending on how intense/long my workouts are...those change every day!

I plan on starting and finishing the Insanity program this round and of course keep up with my 1/2 marathon training. I will also decided what to do with my running after the race on November 5th.

I have to concentrate on my water intake and my freggies. I will incorpotate clean eating and some aspects of the Paleo diet into my meal plans, but will not stress out about it!

I will also work on making yoga part of my weekly routine. At least once a week, hopefully more!

Lastly, I will continue to work on my home organization and productivity. I always do better with a clean and organized home!

NSV

NSV=non scale victory

Today my NSV is this:

Hard to explain this one, but here goes...since starting this round of BLC I have gotten myself back on track in more ways than one. Today I had such a productive day...I had me time, DH time, DS time, did more house cleaning than any other day in last month, met with a client to plan their wedding cake, have dinner prepped on the counter and have my meals planned for the week! And I still have time to eat dinner, do a little more exercise and watch the hockey game tonight! I feel like i would not have done half of this if it weren't for BLC helping me keep track of things.

AWESOME! Sometimes it just takes us getting up and moving with one thing for everything else to fall in place. I definitely have noticed I'm more productive in all aspects of my life now too! Keep up the hard work!

6 weeks and 4 pounds.

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Only 4 more pounds till my goal!! This will prbably be the hardest 4 pounds of my life LOL. Of course I'm only making it harder by taking a little vacation this weekend. I of course don't plan on going overboard, but at the same time I will be driving for 2 days and will be visiting with friends and family so food and sitting around will probably be a part of my vacation.
There is a plan to go pumpkin picking so that should be good, and I hope to get a little jogging in one or two of the days. I guess I just have to try my best to maintain this week!

So we're 6 weeks into the BLC 17 Challenge. I have lost 4.5 lbs so far. I can tell...can you?
