I know it's raining-but

Friday, August 10, 2012

Today I decided to get outside and explore my new neighbourhood (with a 'u' of course). It has been raining off and on all day, but DD likes rain, and we really haven't been exploring since we moved. It is a really nice cool day, and it was a lot of fun. The area is nice, lots of condos and apartments, a couple gorgeous parks, we will have to do this more often-especially with fall coming.

I took the bus today...

For the first time without DH! I found an awesome deal for a KitchenAid Mixer (burned mine out awhile ago), but the place would have been closed by the time he got off work. So I grabbed DD and took the TTC. I managed to get there getting off only one stop ahead of where I was supposed to. Then I hauled the mixer back to the bus stop while trying to corral an antsy 4 yr-old. It was totally worth it, because now I have a shiny new 6qt mixer sitting on my counter, and managed to get in a good workout bringing it home. Woohoo!

I got super lucky finding it on ebay from a local seller. I burned out my Professional 6 a few months ago, and I found a Professional 550 HD for 120 dollars. It is a brand new floor model, but was missing the bowl, beater, whisk and dough hook. No problem for me because I already have all from my last mixer, and the 5.5qt wide and 6qt bowls are interchangeable. I have been looking on ebay for a long time trying to find one, so that really is the best strategy. The seller that I got this on from (shirleyspecial) is the ebay user name, has similar models on sale, so it would be worth checking out, because the retail value of a mixer like this is over 400, and you can get it for around 120. The bowl itself you can find on amazon for 49, and the beater, whisk and hook are about 12-16 dollars each. This seller has a return policy, so I felt comfortable with the purchase.

I have never ridden the bus! LOL I'm too much of a chicken - and doing it with my DD with me!? Holy Moly - talk about an axiety attack. I would probably jump off the bus waaaay before my stop! HAHA!

I've always wanted one of those mixers!!! Where did you find it on sale? I hope it was a big chain store that we have here!!!!! :P

Some things are worth the harder trip and a new mixer is one of those things! May you make lots of yummy things with your new mixer!

I'm an Olympian!

I did 70 minutes on the elliptical this morning while watching the running portion of the men's triathlon. It was really fun, and I felt like I accomplished a great victory at the finish line!

You sound like me last week, when I almost walked off the treadmill because I was so into swimming! :) It's a great feeling to know that you can accomplish something you didn't know you could - just by distracting yourself from the tiredness!! :) Way to Go!!!

Had a fun day!

Saturday, August 04, 2012

Went to the Scotiabanck Carribean Festival with DH and DD today, had an awesome time, and got a serious workout in the process. We packed our own lunch, so it was easy to know exactly what I was getting into nutrition-wise. Then it was at least 3 hours walking there and back. DD doesn't use a stroller anymore, so I got a few rounds of carrying her (40 pounds, great workout). Then we danced for at least two hours watching the parade! We brought along plenty of water, so stayed hydrated the whole day. I haven't had that much fun since I got here!

Feeling Better!!!

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

After a dismal morning, I am feeling great right now. Me and DD just finished a late lunch. I made grilled cheese from the bread I baked on Sunday, and tomato soup. It all tasted great, and even little miss picky eater ate it.
