Urg Co-workers are a pain....

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Why are some of the people I work with so freaked out by my food choices. Today my lunch smells wonderful, so they asked what I had. Edamame, Vegetarian French onion soup and bok choy, tofu and mushrooms in a garlic ginger sauce. The last 2 are home made. So I tell them and they just plain old freak out, how can you eat that that’s sounds horrible, then the questions start about why I eat this way.

God sometimes I hate people and want to tell them some of the horrible truths but I don't because that’s wrong and those are my beliefs .

Oh well I tried to enlighten them and some had some real questions. I even told one who is doing P90X that the owner of the company is a vegan and clearly looks healthy and well.

I'm not even sure what there is to make fun of with that meal. It sounds delicious to me! Hang in there.

I think it’s a universal reaction because I get the same thing from people. I usually tell people as little as possible unless they show a genuine interest. Then I tend to be more open and forthcoming. I’ll tell you, it sure has helped me to develop more patience and tolerance of people though. When you’re a vegan or vegetarian, the meat eaters sometimes treat you with a lot of bias and discrimination just like you get with gender or race or religion, etc.

Hmmm gotta love it....mine usually laugh at my food choices. They are never negative about it. Wouldn't it be fun to remind them of all the processed crap they are eating????

Here I go...

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Starting tomorrow I will be giving up dairy, cheese and eggs.

For those that don't know I've been a vegetarian for 2 years now so its not going to be a major change.

But, I went on a little food/ bender this weekend eating a ton of cheese, dips and just plain crap add on top of that the alcohol I consumed. Well this morning I woke up super bloated, breaks outs all over my face and in general feeling very poor health wise.

I hope this new journey improves my life more.

WOW! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling in the best of health. That is a lot of nutrients you are planning to give up at one time, especially since you are vegitarian and won't be getting protein from fish and meat. How will you go about it?

How much do you attribute your feeling very poor health wise to alcohol consumption? I believe that it is one of the first things they talk about eliminating. Perhaps you might consider that before dairy, cheese and eggs?
Good luck, please stay in touch. I would like to know where your new journey takes you.

Accident

Monday, February 01, 2010

I'm so mad right now... I went out to eat yesterday and asked specifically if there was meat in a dish I was told NO that what I was questioning was a type of cheese. Ok I though... I get the dish and its tastes very strange but familiar. I take another few bites and realize that there is ground beef in the dish.

The waitress was like oh ya there beef in this. Well needless to say I've been sick since then with the worst stomach cramps and now my lovely sister in law thinks that I should just get off this veggie thing and go back to eating meat. What a jerk.

Oh my, I’m sorry to hear that. I have had that happen too. I would rather have a delay while the server goes to ask rather than tell me something that is incorrect. I won’t say that the server was wrong, because I know within a single restaurant, there may be more than one chef and one may fix things a little differently than the others. But the least she could have done is gone back and addressed your concerns and raise your questions with the chef. That’s what an experienced server would do.

Thanks everyone. So My in-laws are the reason I stayed vegetarian and am going to try veganism a try.

Okay I realize some people don't consider fish, seafood, etc. to be "meat" but BEEF? You don't need to reconsider your diet, just where you go to eat. I'm sorry you're suffering because some one else was being an idiot!!

I need to vent

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Ok So I'm in the process of moving this week, well we/I have been packing for 2 or 3 weeks therefore not going to the gym AT ALL and thats not cool.
The BF isnt much help around the house and his dear family is a royal pain in my rear. so on top of feeling like crap from not working out, I'm eating horribly and I'm getting yelled at my someones mother that I'm not even married too!!

Oh and lets toss in the fact that it almost xmas and emoticon and i have not gotten any shopping done because I have no money.

I just want this next 2wks to end so I can start new and fresh!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.

Just stopping by...and hope that the move went well. I'm helping my mom pack. She is moving out in about two weeks. I know how much of an ordeal it can be.

Have a great day.

Wow - you certainly have a right to want to vent. So, begin at the beginning.

Because you deserve it and its good for you, tell BF to cover for you while you go to the gym. Give him a specific list of things to do so you're not stressed when he hasn't done anything.

Because you have a right to peace in your own home, kindly tell HER you
a. appreciate her help but its awfully taxing for her so she should go home and finish getting ready for the holidays;
b. already have a Mom who provides all the input you need;
c. should get out of your hair 'cause she's a royal pain in the butt.

Probably need to pass on c. but at the rate things seem to be going you may find yourself doing that - mean to or not. LOL

Christmas cards picked carefully for each one you love are super gifts when a personal note and promise of non-monetary gift when they need/ask, ie, babysitting, house cleaninig, shopping for or with them, running errands. You get the picture.

Considering you're just moving and the economy sucks, they'll apreciate you didn't stress or overspend this Christmas. Also consider a card that contains a small ornament and mention in the note that you hope they enjoy and treasure this gift for many years to come.

So how's that for a feedback kinda comment? teehee
