Whoops! Missed a day!

Oopsies I forgot to blog yesterday! Oh well, I had a good streak going.

Yesterday was a good day, I guess. I was hungry, but I went to spinning in the morning which always revs up my appetite for the day. I stayed within range, though, so that's good. I've been having trouble with fiber lately. Need to pay attention to that.

Today has been...frustrating. Nothing is happening how it needs to happen!

Starting a vent session now. Skip if you don't want to hear it!

First, I wake up to my phone that has been charging all night being DEAD. The roads are bad, and not having a cell phone kind of terrifies me because I know that that's when I'll have some kind of roadside emergency. However I don't have time to futz with it and find out why it didn't charge, so I take it with me and grab the charger and head out the door to the gym. I plugged my phone into my car charger to at least get it started. Unfortunately, the car that I have won't charge a battery if it's not on, so it was a quick trip to the gym. At least the darn thing turned on though!

The gym was fine, Thursday mornings are light aerobics/lifting for 30 minutes. But I forgot my water cup in the car! Class was about to start and I didn't have any of my stuff out so I didn't have time to run out to the car. So I had to use a Styrofoam one that they provide, which is nice of them but I feel bad for using them...you know that whole ruining the environment thing and all. So that was frustrating.

After working out I showered and got ready to go to work. I realize that I forgot my mittens at home and it's only 4 degrees outside! Me and my numb fingers made our way to the car. I got in and my phone was in emergency shut down mode because of the temperature! ARGH! So I plug it back in, start up the car, and start going to work. Roads weren't horrible, plows hadn't gone through much, but it was fine. Got to work, sat down to eat some breakfast and futz with my phone, and I get it plugged in and nothing is happening! I twist the cord around in the jack, nothing. I bend it, nothing. NOTHING WILL CHARGE THIS STUPID PHONE! Meanwhile, it shuts down due to "dangerously low battery." Now I'm screwed.

Fine, I eat my breakfast. Kids start shuffling in. It's a Spanish day so I greet them all with an "hola" or a "buenos dias" or something less remarkable. They start working on glazing their pots and they are crazy out of control and ridiculously immature for 7th and 8th graders. I have had it, so I have to threaten being kicked out of class for some of their behaviors (i.e. wiping glaze on a neighbors face, not cleaning up after themselves, putting uncapped jars of glaze into the box sideways so everything dumps out, throwing paper towels across the room to make a basket instead of throwing them away). Just insane. They act like they haven't known the rules in the room for the past 5 months. So frustrating.

Class ends and I have got to use the restroom like no one's business. Drinking 5 glasses of water by that time of the morning doesn't fit well with my bladder. I head down to the girls bathroom - it's locked! From the inside! Which means there are kids in there doing things they're not supposed to be doing. I go to find the teacher's bathroom...occupied! UGH I"M BURSING HERE PEOPLE! Whatever, I have to go. I have another school to get to.

So I think I'll be fine and I can hold it til I get to my other school. Every little bump irritated me and I needed to stop. I justified stopping at home so that I could get my iPod and some popcorn for a snack. I got home, peed, grabbed my stuff, and my MIL is looking around for my husbands phone. Apparently he's lost it. So now we're both phone-less because mine is not charging!

I leave, get back on the highway to stop-and-go traffic. 3 accidents are keeping me from moving at a relatively normal pace to my second school of the day. Fine. I don't have to teach for a while, thank you plan time, so just do what I can.

I arrive at work at 9:30 - 40 minutes later than normal. I make my popcorn and come up to my office, which is so frozen that I decided I needed to type just to keep my fingers moving so they wouldn't fall off from frostbite.

Finally got phone to charge by pushing the charger in as far as it will go and then wrapping it insanely tightly around the phone. We'll see if it holds a charge.

Now I have about another hour and a half til I need to teach, and I have NO desire to do anything productive because I feel worn out from the day I've already had!

Okay, done. It will get better. Right? Right??? It has to!

    Ok, so I stayed for the whole vent, made me smile a little (sorry). Shovel in a couple handfuls of that popcorn then stop. Take a couple deep breathes then eat that popcorn one kernal at a time repeating "I did not strangle any children today" Makes me smile because my son is in grade 7, but most days you would imagine kindergarten!

Well, I went over today. But in my defense, I changed my calorie ranges today and I did eat within my OLD range. Still, I probably didn't need the second chocolate chip cookie I had for dessert. Oh well. One day. It won't kill me.

I'm feeling good today, though. Had a GREAT water workout tonight. A good day at school. And I'm looking forward to starting kickboxing next week! I've never done it before, so it should be interesting.

Lots of snow coming our way tomorrow day and night. I'm doing my snow dance for a snow day on Thursday! Do it with me, people!!

  


Back to the gym!

Today was my first day back to the gym in a few weeks, due to such a busy schedule. It felt really good. I did some water aerobics. The water was cold and then I was even colder coming back outside. So that wasn't fun. But it felt good to exercise and work up a sweat (well, as much of a sweat as I can work up in the water!).

It was nice to have a day off today thanks to MLK's bday, the weather was relatively nice (in the mid to upper 30s) and I finally got to go to the chiropractor. Max slept well last night and took a great nap in the morning, and then didn't sleep the entire rest of the day! So I of course got nothing done...except one big thing...

Today we paid off ALL of our medical debt! Everything from Max's birth to Johnny's endoscopy and everything in between. That's a huge chunk of our debt. Now we're continuing to work on the credit card debt, and it looks like we'll be done by April! That will be so refreshing to not have that hanging over our heads, and the huge chunk of change we're paying on those every month can go into savings. Such a relief!

Tomorrow it's back to work for a 4 day week. It looks like we'll be getting a fair amount of snow dumped on us on Wednesday night, so there's a chance for a snow day on Thursday. Not holding my breath, though. I don't know if we could get that lucky!!

No new meals today. We had potato soup today. But tomorrow it's roast beef sandwiches! Yummm.

Sunday Sunday.

Tonight's new meal was Mexican Lasagna. It was AMAZING actually. While making it I was nervous because it seemed really disproportionate, but when it was done it was perfection. It didn't hold together as a lasagna well, though. It'd be good as...you guessed it...a casserole! Totally yum though. 9/10.

Today was a pretty good food day. Kind of a stressful day otherwise, though. This morning we set out to finally get my mother in law's closet sorted out downstairs so she actually has a place to put everything. We were going to convert some of the storage under the stairs that's already there to a closet by adding some shelves and pull out drawers and stuff. We got this GREAT solution all bought and ready to go in, and as my husband was trying to take off a 2x4 from one of the pieces of drywall that was in there, the entire piece of drywall collapsed! Then the floor caved in. So we ended up tearing everything out of them and we're going to start from scratch. No closet solution now, though, because that other one won't work going into cinderblock walls! So frustrating. So we didn't get nearly as much done today as I'd hoped.

Other than that, a good day. I forgot to weigh in this morning, so I'm going to try to remember tomorrow morning, and if I forget, then I'll take Saturday's as official.

Tomorrow it's back to the gym for me! It was hard for me to get back into the swing of things this week after the holidays and the cruise, so I wasn't able to go. But tomorrow, I'm there!

Here is day 3 of my blogging streak!

I tried a bunch of new recipes this week. Johnny's mom LOVES casseroles, and I generally enjoy the food she makes, so she brought some of her recipes from home this time and we've been trying a few out. I've put all of them into SparkRecipes and they are all pretty low in calories. 300ish is the highest. For a meal that's darn good, and it allows you to have some side dishes. Here's the rundown:

. Oh my gosh so amazing. The servings were really well sized, it was creamy and wonderful and less than 200 calories. We had it with some homemade garlic bread, and it was delicious. That will be a staple in the Voruz household. Easily a 9/10

Wednesday was Enchilada Casserole ( recipes.sparkpeople.com/recip

. I was nervous about this one, because Mexican is kind of a touchy subject with me, but it was DELICIOUS. It's layered on top of tortilla chips before it's cooked, but honestly, I could probably do without that part. They just got kind of soggy and became part of the meat. I think it would be better to leave them out and just eat it with tortilla chips on the side (or almost as a dip). Very very tasty though with some fat free sour cream and lettuce! I'd say 8/10

Tonight was Oriental Chicken Casserole ( recipes.sparkpeople.com/recip

) She normally makes it with hamburger instead of chicken, but we'd already had beef so many times this week, I needed some chicken. It was extremely filling and you got a really good amount for 300 calories. Out of the 3 new meals this week this was probably my least favorite, though, because since all of the flavors were so mixed together, by the end of it I was kind of sick of it. It was still very very good, though. Not crazy oriental - maybe adding hoisin sauce or something would have helped with that. I'd give it a 6.5/10.

So it was a good food week. Last night we got to go out with some friends and that was very much needed. We played laser tag and ate at one of our favorite restaurants. I did well while I was there. We ordered a veggie pizzette for an appetizer and each had 2 slices, and it was wafer thin with only a little bit of cheese. I did have a glass of wine, but it had been so long I didn't beat myself up about it. I ended up going over my max by about 60 calories or so, but I'm under my minimum by that many today so I feel as though they cancel each other out.

I weighed unofficially this morning and was down 1.2 from last Sunday. I will weigh in officially tomorrow, but it feels good to be going in the right direction again!
