So I went to go get my haircut today. I decided to try this new place down the street from me, because I'm not all that picky about my hair and it's so close, it'd be nice to have a place that I like to go that's within walking distance.
So I go in, and I guess all of them were going to a funeral at like noon or something, so I had to set up an appointment for 2. That's fine. I went home for a bit and chilled.
Came back at 2, and the woman who was cutting my hair came in and said, "Okay Leigh, you can take off your coat and come on back!" I went back, and she immediately sat me down in the hair-washing chair, without asking if I wanted a shampoo. I didn't cause my hair was JUST washed. But whatever. So she washed it, the whole time talking to the woman next to her, pretty much ignoring me.
She finished washing, and we went to sit down. She never asked what I wanted, but I threw some pictures in her face of a haircut that I had before that I liked. She glanced at them, said "okay" and started chopping away. She didn't ask me anything about length, where my part was, etc. I piped in and showed her where I part it, thank God.
The whole time she was cutting my hair, I was facing away from the mirror. I thought that was weird, but whatever. And she didn't cut anything off of the front, but went to town with the texturizer, which is also weird because my hair is super fine, so you can't texturize it too much or I look bald.
The whole time she was continuing to talk to the woman next to her.
Got done, she never showed it to me, but said, "okay you're done!' I got up, looked in the mirror quickly, thought, "hmm, that looks odd, but whatever" paid and left. Got home, looked in the mirror, and I was just like, WTF???? The front was SUPER long, and choppy, and the back had like NOTHING LEFT. I tried to fix it by styling it, but to no avail. I just broke down. She did a complete HACK JOB on my hair. And I am sooooo not picky about my hair, so for me to think it was bad, it had to be REALLY bad. I mean, I've had bad haircuts before, but I could have done a better job on my OWN hair! The part that pissed me off the most was that I paid $30 for a CRAPPY haircut!! And she got a $5 tip out of me for CRAPPING ON MY HEAD. I knew I should have followed my gut and left after the shampoo, but I stuck it out, and look where it got me!
I called the chick who did my hair well the last time (if THIS doesn't teach me to just keep going to her, nothing will!) and luckily she had an opening today. I went down there, told her everything, and she fixed it as best she could. The first chick just screwed up the back royally, though. So I have some hair in the middle of my head that's almost down to my scalp, and other parts that are longer. Jeni (the one who fixed it) said it would take a while to grow out and it will grow out all wonky in the back cause the short hair will push out the long hair, but to come back in 4-5 weeks and she'll take care of me. She also suggested that I go a little darker with it because that will give the illusion that there's more bulk there than really is.
So not only did I pay a total of $75 for haircuts today ($15 of that being product from Jeni) I also went and got some dark brown hair dye, which husband so graciously applied for me.
So the haircut is shorter than I would normally like it, of course Johnny LOVES it because he loves short hair. But it will grow out. He's going to go in there tomorrow and get my money back. I don't know if it will work, but you can bet your ass that I'm writing her a negative review on google!

I'm not a political person. I never have been. I am excited about this years election, however. Granted, the person I wanted to be president didn't even get into the final race, but there was a close second in there. And I do feel that there will be a big change after this election. At least, I hope there is.
That's about all the political talk I can handle right now. I don't care who you want to win, just vote. But definitely vote if you want the same guy as me ;) jk
Things with the weight loss have been going pretty well. I am really enjoying calorie cycling. It's really giving me the opportunity to change up what I'm eating from day to day. I tend to have 4 or 5 "safe" meals, and I go to those quite often. I haven't gotten sick of them, which is good, but it's nice to experiment a little bit and change up the normal routine. I lost .8 this week, which is pretty good, considering I got my period on Sunday and I was totally bloated all day.
I'm excited for next weekend (the 15th), husband and I are throwing a Passions Party!! For those of you who don't know about Passions Parties, definitely google it. I'm way excited. It's a couple's party, so it should be a pretty good time. I don't know what to feed everyone, though. Maybe homemade pizzas and salad or something. Cannot wait for this.
That's pretty much all, I guess. I suppose I should probably work or something.

Yesterday was pretty much the best birthday ever.
I went into my 3rd grade class, and the teacher is one of my best friends. I taught my lesson, got through the whole thing, then she told me to go sit down, and the kids all had made cards for me and they baked cookies for a treat, and then I got to open presents. It was awesome!! They were pretty distracted and hopped up on sugar, so their art didn't turn out great though, but oh well, it was fun!
Then, at lunch, the teachers ordered Chinese and got cupcakes. It was delish! I felt so loved :)
THEN after lunch I went to 1st grade, and the are out in the portables. I knocked, they answered, and handed me a snack cake and started singing happy birthday to me! They all had cards too. It was great!
After school I got home and there was a gift in my mailbox from Michaelene and her husband John. They got me some handmade jewelry, and I called her and I think we are going to meet in Chicago next weekend for the SOFA show! Psyched about that. I got to talk to Kim, too, which was nice, cause we don't get the chance to talk too often. But you know you've got a good friend when you can just pick back up right where you left off :)
I got off the phone and mom and SK showed up. Johnny showed up shortly thereafter. He gave me my birthday surprise, which was GOURMET cupcakes! Boston cream, brownie, and vanilla. I didn't get to eat any yet, though, cause I had my fill of sugar yesterday. But I will have one tonight! And share!
We went to Taste for dinner, which was incredible. We had some wine, ate great food, and got a free dessert out of the deal. It was awesome.
It was just the greatest birthday!! And to top it off, today is HALLOWEEN!! We have a party and parade at school at the end of the day. Johnny got to dress up at work, he's Super Mario (MY IDEA HE STOLE IT!) and he's going to try to get off early to come to the parade again this year. I am going as a dalmatian. A lot of the teachers are going as dalmatians, because another teacher is going as Cruella DeVille, and two others as the burglers. It's going to be a good day.

I love today.
For my birthday this year my husband got me a BRAND NEW DIGITAL SEWING MACHINE!!! Oh my god it is so sexy. It's smooth and quiet and it even threads my needle FOR me!! AND it's got a drop in bobbin so I don't have to futz with it anymore!! I LOVE IT!! AND he got me a bunch of organizational stuff for the sewing room, because it was kind of becoming a catch all. So he got me this thing that holds all of my spools of thread, another that holds all of my bobbins, and they're all readily accessible so I don't have to dig around for them!! AND he got me an automatic bobbin winder so that I don't have to undo everything from my sewing machine in order to thread another bobbin! IT'S SO AWESOME AND THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVARRRRRRRR!!!!
And the coolest part? I know of a certain jewel-toned friend (wink wink) who would love a sewing machine, and now she might be getting one for the holidays!
Other cool things:
My friend Gomez here at school is pretty overweight, and she had a breakdown a few days ago about it. She says she wants to do something about it, she had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago but they were only able to do half of it, so she lost about 75 lbs, but then stopped losing. She always takes the elevator, so Tuesday I told her class that I was depending on them not to let her do that anymore, that if she wants to get into better shape she has to start taking the stairs. So yesterday, she was about to get into the elevator, and one of her students (3rd graders) said, "Oh no, don't even think about it Ms. Gomez, you need your exercise! You're taking the stairs just like all of us!" So of course, Gomez knew that I was behind it. I need to commend that student on standing up to her and making her do that!! I told her that she has to lose weight so I can have kids, cause she won't be able to babysit if she's getting winded all the time!
Mom and SK come today and I couldn't be more excited!! It's going to be so nice to actually get to spend some time with them while she's not fighting with my dad!
I think that's it for now. I love my birthday!!!
