    Big Bertha! LOL
You'll like taking that new one outside and doing off-body stuff.
Good for you, for mixing hooping into your other workouts. Great idea!
It'd be cool if the article generated some new interest in the team. You never know!

Have you thought of going down in inches and not PSI? Having both those jumps can be like whoooa for your body. I use heavy hoops. I love the feeling of the hoop on my body.

I've slowly gone in size over the past year. Usually inch by inch. I don't even fool with 100 PSI. I do have a polypro but there is no real joy there unless I'm offbody hooping like whoa. I've probably only gone down 5 inches total hoop wise.

And I have tried circuts. I've tried the quick 30 minute strength things from sparkpeople that usually consist of 3-5 moves. I'd do 2 minutes of hooping and then do a move, hoop, etc. Usually it's a great way for me to ease back into strength training since I mostly enjoy it once I get into the habit. But I've yet to do it long enough to see a difference.

3 Positives!

Friday, April 27, 2012

My Friend BOGUSANNIE posted a challenge to Sparkers to come up with 3 positives about themselves. She was noticing a trend of Debbie Downer Blog posts and wanted to invite others to change that! So here is my video response.
Happy Friday!

My Bug-a-boo Hooping for the 1st time!

Friday, April 27, 2012

This is my daughter. She is nearly 3! Where does the time go? I was a going back and forth in my head about whether or not I should share this. But I decided to go ahead. Please do not share this video outside of SparkPeople, for if you do, a handbasket of hellishly bad karma will be unleashed. Just kidding. I have no say over Karma. But seriously, Creepers-Beware!

Anywho! I was hooping yesterday and Bug decided to come in and join me. I was so glad I had the Flip cam rolling. Its a bit long, but I think it was too cute to cut anything out. Enjoy!

My five year old son can't get it yet and has pretty much given up, but I think he MIGHT try again when I show him this. :) And my son is a SparkPerson, too.. he helps me make my vlogs all the time - filming or performing. Check out the finger puppet play from a few days ago, for instance. Bug might like that one. She had great dedication and a great attitude and I can see why given how encouraging and supportive you are!

How cute is she???? I did it!! I love the look of surprise on her little face when it spins around more than once. Power of the Unicorn Shirt! Awww, thank you Mommy. Fierce concentration. If that's not her own hoop, you have to get her one now. Aww, every hooper has a meltdown now and then.
Thanks for sharing. My Karma is safe with you.

Finally got a few more tricks up my sleeve!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Okay folks, here it is! I have been hooping for about 1-2 hours a day for the last 7 days. I am so totally hooked! I havent done any other exercises except swimming one day. I have figured out how to do about 7 or 8 different tricks now. I tried to showcase all of them in this little vid. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

Is that your new hoop? I like it and it matches your outfit. Bonus!
Girl, you're getting goooooood. Go ahead and pop that escalator up into a halo, you already have the hoop up there anyway. You got that back lift down! Took me forever and a day to get that. It's fun, isn't it? You'll never get bored; there's always something new to learn. Keep hooping!

Derby Dissolved

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Well folks, I am sad to announce that our little derby team has had to dissolve. Due to many factors, i.e. lack of support from the community, lack of attendance and fresh meat, lack of a steady place to practice, etc. The biggest contributing factor to our dissolution is that this is the Army and everything is in a constant state of flux. We've had 3 players leave the team because they are leaving this Army Post or leaving the Army all together. 2 of them are pregnant. 2 of them are injured. That leaves 3 of us. The same 3 of us who have been struggling to keep this team together for a year. We have tried to get our name out there in the community and drum up new membership, but there are just not many people out here who feel like they can meet the challenge. :(

I am pretty disappointed because we didn't even get a chance to meet all of our minimum requirements and get rostered. But, it is what it is. I will try to keep skating when I can, and hopefully when we leave this post we will go to a place that has an established league I can try out for.

Although it's a sad thing, I am not going to let it get me down. We literally live out in the middle of nowhere. Our post is 40 miles from civilization. It is very easy to get depressed being out here, but I am not going to let that happen. I am really happy to have my Spark Community of Friends, even though we will most likely never meet. I am glad to have discovered the joy of Hooping. That is something I can do on my own and no one can stop me. I will just keep on keeping on (thanks SCHWINNER for the inspiration)! And thanks to all my Spark Friends for your support and advice! Love to you all! emoticon

    Aww, that sucks!!!!
Maybe you could do a Jr. Derby workshop or something, for some of the kids on the base? Maybe teach them some drills or something? At least you'd be skating.
I hope your next post has a killer team and you can jump in.

In the meantime, you'll just have to keep honing your HoopNinja skills.

I'm really sorry. How close is the next closest league? We have girls that travel 2 hours one way to skate (there are three of them but they aren't able to carpool often). We have another that travels about 1.5 hours one way and then I'm part of a group that comes about an hour one way. It's a pain in the rear, but doable and so worth it to actually be able to skate! There is a league in my area, but they are much less stable.

Very sad to hear....without sounding cliche....when one door closes another one opens somewhere....oh and I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, you may not know what that reason is yet, or hell, in a year from now....but the universe has something planned, it just wants to keep you in the dark a bit! emoticon
It'll fall into place eventually

:)
