Slow going

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

I've been struggling to get down lower than 156-155. The scale keeps going back up to 158-159 and then going back down. I haven't been going for huge calorie deficits, so I am not expecting to loose weight quickly, but it would be nice to see some consistent downward movement on the scale. The gym scale had me higher when I started and now shoes that I've lost 9 pounds. Who knows what is right!?!

I do feel a difference, but as expected it is slow. This is basically my plan. Aim for 2-4 lbs a month and try and make the loss more sustainable. Now, I would feel a little cooler about it all if I thought I was actually at 154 (my normal BMI).

But I've basically been staying on track since the beginning of April. We'll see what June brings!

Have you been checking measurements? I know at least a few times along my journey the scale stalled and bounced around a little, but the measurements kept moving (slowly) down. And I figured as long as something was headed in the right direction, I wasn't going to stress too much over the scale.... Just a thought.

How're you feeling??

How has this much time slipped away

Saturday, May 11, 2013

I just realized I haven't posted in over 3 weeks. I've been SO busy at work, managing soccer and with riding. And last week I took a pretty bad tumble off my horse so I had to take this week off from working out.

That said, I've been staying on track with my eating and (but for the concussion) with my workouts. I dropped down to 155, which was great. But then over the last few days the scale went back up. I'm eating within my calories, so I don't think it's real weight gain, but it's frustrating nonetheless. My clothes are slowly starting to fit better again.

I really wanted to be down at 155 for my bday (yesterday), but I'm feeling better overall, so I guess I have to be happy with that. I'm going strong. I got back to riding and actually, my horse has been doing amazingly well.

I'd really like to drop another 5 by mid June (150???).

    Hey girl!!

First, congrats on the progress thus far!! Sorry to hear about the riding mishap, but I'm glad you are OK!

I think another 5 pound goal is do-able in a month or so. But I will say that focusing on the scale is a frustrating thing. Stick to how you feel and your measurements and just use the scale as a guide of sorts. Proof of that this week. I was up 2 pounds, but down a half inch overall. So the scale is pretty arbitrary in the big picture.

You can do it!!

One pound down

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

I seem to be down a pound. Yay. After realizing that the scale at one gym put me at 163 and another scale at another gym at 155, I decided that I was just going to use the scale I have at home. So that's where it's at.

Onwards and downwards.

13 days and counting

Saturday, April 13, 2013

So they good news is, I have now been on track for 13 days and counting. The bad news is, the scale has not budged. If anything, it has gone up slightly. :s

This type of plateau really psychs me out and makes it hard to keep up my motivation. I have been tracking calories and staying around 1600 a day and burning about 1800 a week. Nothing extreme, but enough that I should have seen a pound or two go. Usually the first 10 days or so give me a noticeable result. Even if it is just water retention, it is something to cling to.

I got a real wakeup call this week at the barn when I realized that neither pairs of riding boots fit me. These are boots that I had on at the end of January. :s So I know I need to stay on the straight and narrow.

Yay for a 13 day streak!! Keep it up!!

Bummer on the boots, but hopefully you'll be back in them shortly.

Could also be a fluid retention thing if you've had more sodium than usual and not enough water... Just a thought. Typically if you're going to retain water, you will see it in the lower extremities before the upper ones... that whole gravity thing. :)

    LOL well said.

I think there may be a couple explanations for the riding boot issue other than plain old weight. I have started running more in the last couple months, so my calves may be a bit bigger. Also, I've taken the boots out after the winter (I mostly ride in warmer boots in the winter) and the leather may be less supple.

Had no idea that riding boots were so sensitive . . . yikes! Just keep at it, the pounds have no place to hide and you'll hunt 'em down eventually!!

Good news

Saturday, April 06, 2013

I'm very happy to report that I've been on track for 6 days counting. I'm still just taking it one day at a time.

I managed to forgo the delicious cookies left out at the barn today (the barn owner brings us cookies every Saturday, and sometimes again mid week).

I hoping to sneak in a quick run this evening. Yep. On track. :)
