Week 1 Down

Thursday, March 07, 2013

So "Week One" down and I am down 1.2 pounds. Not bad!! I wanted it to be more because I felt that I was tracking really really well but I have to get over that and enjoy what I achieved and keep going. Improve more on the exercising. I didn't do as much as I wanted but I know I am watching my back. I did by an exercise ball to have at home so I can do the exercises that I do at the chiropractor at home too. Just one more thing that I don't have an excuse to give.

I am going to stick with WW for a while just because I really like my leader and I think once I get my momentum going I think I can use both at different times to motivate me. I find tracking right now on SP more interesting but that is because I have been tracking on WW for a year - SP is new again. But it was interesting to see the Carbs, Fats, Proteins again. I was happy to see for the most part I am eating in the guidelines - so it really is just tracking all the time - and getting in the exercise.

So on to Week 2. I am down a total of 10.2 on WW so my next Mini goal is 4.8. I want to get to 15 and it will get my into Onderland too. So here we go!!

Trying something new

Thursday, February 28, 2013

So I am still a member of WW. But over the past 3 months my weight has gone no where. So before I cancel my membership I thought I would try to dual track. Maybe if I track here I will see what I am doing wrong with WW and I can keep with it, why because I do believe that once I am back on track the WW is motivating to go to the meeting, etc. But I might find that this is just what I need and I can cancel my membership or drop it to just online or something. So we will just see how this goes. :-)

If SparkPeople is the way - Show me!! :-)

Thank you all - yes working out is the biggest issue. I actually have back issues. I have two herniated disc and one that bulges in my lower lumbar that is causing my limitation. I am slowly realizing that I have to put forth more effort and not rely on my chiropractor as much. I had issues last year with a my sciatic and needed injections but that has cleared up - and even with that I lost 20. Just lost focus after my 40th (that was a goal I had set) and went back to old ways.

I am now focusing on my PT work at home and getting on the treadmill so I don't put myself out of commission the first day of Disney in August!!

Sometimes change is good. It's great that you are seeking out other options for yourself. Keep it up!

Plateauing is normal but irritating...do you work out or exercise? Sometimes just doing a bit more by way of exercise or beginning to exercise helps. I am also a carb watcher. I lose best when my carbs are below a certain level. Whatever you do, don't give up. emoticon

I did WW too, and it worked for motivating me, but it was expensive and they really don't focus enough on the necessity of working out. You HAVE to excersice. It isn't fun / popular thing to tell overweight people, but it is true.

find what works for you, a water aerobics class, Zumba, elliptical are some of my favorites (along with swimming laps in the mornings). I like logging my calories instead of always trying to calculate points. I typically find that to stay in my 1200 calorie range and not be hungry I am forced to eat healthier options so the idea behind points looking at fat sodium etc really works if you are just keeping in your calorie range.

WW has a lot of good tips to prep food and good recipes, but I find a ton of good recipes on pinterest / sparkpeople too.

Hope this works for you.
