DEEP thoughts-(Oh no)

Sunday, March 11, 2012

People know what they do;
they frequently know why they know what they do;
but what they don't know
is what what they do does.
(Michel Foucault)

There is really nothing you must be.
And there is nothing you must do.
There is really nothing you must have.
And there is nothing you must know.
There is really nothing you must become.
However. It helps to understand that fire burns,
and when it rains, the earth gets wet....
(Manabu Foljamakis)

The cobra will bite you whether you call it cobra
or Mr. Cobra.
(Indian Proverb)

The older I get, the less attention I pay to what people say or think or hope. I notice what they do, how they live, and what they work for.......
.......And I have little use for those who withdraw from the world and issue instructions for how to live in it; If you don't play the game, you can't know enough to make the rules. If you're not engaged in the sweaty work of the world, you should not be in charge of the deodorant concession.
. Strong words?--Yes and deeply felt---
......It's a moral obligation to participate in the work of society. If you take from the pot, you must put into the pot. Even those who have no money can sing and keep the driver of the bus awake and hopeful.
.. Knowing and understanding and being are not enough. One must do. To gain the world and give nothing to it is to lose your soul.
These are words from "'Words I wish I Wrote"", by Robert Fulgham---

Deep thoughts----
How does it relate to Spark?-Perhaps it does--perhaps it doesn't-----but--- to me, it tells me to participate in life ----keep going----At least we gave it our "'all""----
This is March 11th--DAY LIGHT SAVINGS here--more day light--hope that warmer days will come---less snow--- longer walks---- YEAH!!!
Enjoy the day!

Oh those words ARE embodied by Spark! I guess for me, the counsel that ANYONE is capable of contributing SOMETHING is empowering and TRUE! It IS our obligation to give back! That embodies the philosophy of this group as well.

I feel I've gained so much from SP and bloggers like YOU. And so I like to give back to when and how I can.

Fantastic blog. I hope you have a sparktacular Sunday and enjoy the extra daylight hours. WooHoo!

Vacuums, Husbands and Pilots-

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Yesterday husband helped me out----vacuuming-----with the central vac--
Well, not too long into it, he called me---the head of the carpet part, would not turn---That ment he could not get the dog hair off the carpets--
Anyway, to make a long story shorter, he had tried to suction up the cat bed--and after a lot of time, trying a new plug, calling the dealer---the reset button was stuck----Resident wife (me)-- got it going again---
The perils of being married --to a Doctor---- They are not really "'handy""--They are----""helpful"""--or try to be, but better in their office-
That's how yesterday began---

To-day is a new day--bright----with promises of milder weather coming--
I heard a new saying yesterday--- I like it--""Mind over Platter""---
A few more tips here----
3,500 calories= 1POUND
Calories Do Count; don't squander them on food you don't really enjoy.
Willpower is developed gradually, like a muscle, by daily exercise.
Just because you went off your diet for a little while is no excuse to stay off it.
The Best WAy To Diet Is To Keep Your Mouth Shut---LOL--(not really)
A half hour of brisk walking burns up to 300 calories and gives a glow to your body, mind, and spirit.
Stick To Your Diet To-Day. You'll Feel Better About Yourself To-morrow.

So---Enjoy this day----If you are travelling--Hug a Pilot to-day---They need your support-----Trust me --I'm a Pilot's Mom----*S*---
-Right now a gal must get moving here!

I just saw a post yesterday about calories. You hear so many time that you should not eat after a certain time (6pm). Well the post said:

Calories can tell time. They all count.....

So glad you got the vacuume going.

Sorry! Had to laugh at the "not working vacuum" story. Same way here! And my husband is like yours, PYNETREE . . . a leftie and he uses it as an excuse for almost everything. Never mind my brother and Dad are lefties as well, but both are very talented engineers who could fix anything! But, LOL, DH has mastered the can opener! That made me just laugh till I cried!

Hugs, Lynda, and if I see a pilot, I'll hug him!

Ah, my hubby too is not at all handy. Years ago my Dad said.."the only tool he ever mastered was a can opener!" My husband says "I'm Left-handed, all these things are Right handed tools" . But my Left hand, mechanic Dad, luckily taught all of us girls, as well as boys, the way around a tool box.
So, in our house, it was always Mom, who had the tool kit, put everything together, fixed things, painted, papered, repaired. Now that we are both retired, he does help a lot with housework, and even cooks a bit...but still has no recognition of how things work...LOL!

Have a good week! emoticon

Holy man!--This is me!!--taken yesterday---LOL---after a crazy day of chopping ice on the driveway----chopping ice after I came home from the hair dresser---
And to-day----we have more snow falling---lightly--but--it's snow!

Here are the 2 Germans waiting to go outside---

So----I really have no big message this morning as things have been a bit "'hairy"" here--Husband , carrying in one of my favourite magazines, yesterday (as I chopped ice)---- WELL-----He lost my magazine (I didn't realize it , till this morning)---
When husband loses anything--he swears he never saw the lost article--that it must've been me that misplaced it--We have gone thru this whole process countless times-----Husband is Chinese----Chinese men NEVER do anything wrong--- If something goes amiss, it is always the woman's problem!--Chinese men are VERY proud!!!--(Kinda drives me crazy!)---
-WELL------guess what??--He found it-----about an hour ago---- He had left it on the washer, as he came inside---and it fell down behind it------
Go figure eh??--- LOL----- Whatta way to start a day!--LOL

So-----I have a dress for son #1's wedding in August--Now I just have to fit into it----that means eating healthy , everyday--exercising--drinking water--Sparking----
I need to lose at least 1000 pounds--or so it feels---
Oh Spark people----I do need you!!

You look wonderful... love the haircut!! I wish I could get my hair to look like that. ANd I have news for you. It isn't just Chinese men who think like that. Isn't it amazing that they always say it wasn't me, it was you? ANd then when they find out it WAS them, they still try to pin it on you!! AGGHHH Men!!
But then they go and do something so cute, you just have to forgive them. You didn't tell us about your dress. Pictures, please or a least a description. Weddings are so much fun. I got very lucky when I got my dress for my daughter's wedding. I hate to shop so went to one place and found three that I like and bought the second one tried on. It was a long dress and since the groom's mother was wearing a shorter one, I took it to my seamstress and had it hemmed. I like it better shorter. It was bugundy with spaghetti straps and thankfully a short jacket over that (me in a thin strap dress is not a pretty pciture)The jacket had some very small rhinestones around the neck and front of the jacket. Very understated and very me. See I told you about my dress now we all want to hear about yours. ANd you will get into it because we are here to support you to get into it!!! Have a great weekend!!

Tess passed and International Women's Day!

Thursday, March 08, 2012

Tess passed her Puppy Class, and --with flying colours!
She performed---She now-can ""sit""--"Stay"-, go "Down"-"come"-"heel"--
I was so proud!
She had a bad morning here at home--decided to chase the poor cat-=-over the gate going upstairs---jumped the gate--got put in her crate and told , ""Bad Dog"!
Lordy Be! The poor cat!---
This cat is a recycled guy--donated to husband and I , about 6 yrs ago---He must be 12 yrs at least now--

It's International Women's Day to-day!--I'm all for celebrating Wonderful Women-
Women hold up half the sky!
Women have got to make the world safe for men since men have made it so darned unsafe for women
Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!
Where there is a woman, there is magic!-
Stand tall-We are Women!!--We can do anything----

So----this day has begun--Already I've been on the scales---fed 2 Germans--cleaned up cat vomit (Yuckers!)- fed cat---changed water buckets-----and taken my pill--(thyroid)--but----- the Dreadmill is calling--A gal must do what a gal must do----and that is get this body moving---
Have a great day Sparklers--but----(Isn't there always a ""but""?)----
Be kind to a white haired person--They deserve all our respect!

That poor cat - must have been so traumatized. Hope she is OK.

Way to go Tess on passing with flying colors. Does he have to go back to learn "cat etiquette"? Just wondering.

Have a good evening.

Congratulations to Tess and to women everywhere. Don't you hate it when you hear someone make fun of a boy for doing something "like a girl?" Throw like a girl, scream like a girl, cry like a girl. What's so bad about being a girl? We need to remind the guys they wouldn't be anywhere (including born) without us! Go girls and women!

And a blessed "dia de la donna" to you, too. I wasn't even aware this "holiday" existed until I spent 7 weeks working in Italy. On this date, every woman in the lab was given a flower in celebration. Wow! The US doesn't even seem to recognize it!

And many congrats to Tess. Isn't it just like a Kindergartener to "jump the gate" and misbehave after a milestone, though? Hope the kitty wasn't too traumatized.

Do you think poor kitty got sick over being chased by Tess? You know she just couldn't help it. She had to release all the pent up energy from passing her class somewhere!
Be strong, women of the world! emoticon emoticon
