Aren't we all just taller children?

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

I like this--
You can understand and relate to most people better if
you look at them--no matter how old or impressive they
may be--as if they are children. For most of us never
really grow up or mature all that much--we simply
grow taller. Oh, to be sure, we laugh less and play less
and wear uncomfortable disguises like adults, but beneath
the costume is the child we always are, whose needs are
simple, whose daily life is still best described by fairy tales.
""Leo Rosten""--from the book, "Words I wish I wrote"", by Robert Fulghum

I like that---Isn't it so true? Smile at a Senior Citizen to-day---Take the time to wait for them to do whatever they are doing----They are children, like the rest of us, who just look whiter!

In the dog world, which seems to be a big part of my world right now--Coal and the puppy, TESS are trying to work it out!

So children out there--enjoy your day--cut back on the portions--There is more to life than food!-right?

Great quote! So true! And I love the picture! Speaking of being like children - what were those two dogs names on Bugs Bunny? Remember the little one just wanted to play? I bet Coal and Tess are just like that.

Have an awesome day!

Monday morning---another day to get Spark right--
Drinking water --drinking 8 glasses of water , is a lot of water--
Journaling reminds me that I have eaten enough food and am not dying of starvation.
Exercising keeps the ol' body from getting crotchety--seizing up---
I read someone's blog recently--think it was Ginee---She is having a terrible time getting off pop-- or soda as you in the US call it.
I used to be that way--Now it tastes terrible--I drink mostly water--I couldn't lose weight on all that "'soda""--but it took time for me to not have the soda-

The puppy Tess , is doing well--the resident GSDOG, Coal, has not hurt her-still growls at her at times--the resident cat just peeks at Tess from a great distance--
My hardwood floors are taking a beating with their water bowls---
No snow in this area--yet--heavy frost on some mornings tho!
Right now the Dreadmill is calling---
Hope y'all enjoy the day--Another day-another loss of FAT--I HOPE!

Coal and Tess--playing ball-

I grew up in Northern Illinois, right on the Wisconsin southern boarder, and we called soda "Pop" as well. My parents always ask if you want a "Pop"!! Down here in the south they say "Drink"... Now to me "drink" means Booze! LOL!! It is funny wherever you live they say different things.. LOL!! That puppy is adorable!!!! I wish I could snuggle him!!!

Pop was one of the things I got off last year. This year, I still cave and have one about once every 2 months. Off Colas completely though. Green Tea w Ginger or Water are my go to drinks now.

I am sure Tess will win Coal's heart soon.

Happy Monday!

Awwww, at least in the pic they're getting along! Coal will come around.

I used to be a pop drinker, too. Not anymore. I just can't deal with the regular pop (wayyyyyy too sweet, and besides that amt. of sugar isn't good for my diabetes, obviously). The artificial sweeteners do a real # on me -- I get brain fog, lethargic and it just doesn't agree with me. Hard to give up the habit, but did it!

Have a great Monday, my spark friend!!

Air Canada, the internet, and a pup!

Sunday, November 13, 2011

It's amazing what airlines carry---
It's amazing what you can buy online--
In both cases, that is how our puppy arrived--

This was how we were introduced to TESS, our 9 week old female German Shepherd Dog--
We ment her , in the cargo section , of the airport. She flew Air Canada---from Toronto to Sudbury--an hour flight--We drove in to pick her up-a 2 hr drive for us!
I had seen pictures of her online-- I have been researching various GSDog breeders since last April--online--

This was "Tess" yesterday---Her favourite spot to sleep, is beside the water bucket.
As you can see, my hardwood floors are taking 2nd place, to the dogs---
You can say, my whole life is taking 2nd place to --""the dogs""--

This is Coal, the resident, GSDOG--whose life has changed-drastically--- not for the good, he says , right now--
There is quite a difference in size at the present time--

I keep telling him, things will improve ---
I don't have time to plan exotic meals for myself or husband, right now---which has improved my life--as I see my scales going down!
--But, I'm really into ""kibble""--measuring out the right amounts--making sure ""the dogs"" get what they are due--
Maybe that is what I should be doing with Spark--measuring my food more----as I do with the kibble-- watching the portions , so the calories are down--

What a fuzzy little girl! So sweet!

Ya, I measure out my dogs food twice a day, every day! JRT's are prone to getting fat, so I need to keep on top of it for them. (and myself)

I'm sure Coal and Tess will be great pals, mine are unseperable now

It is a wonder what we do for our dogs. I have been sleeping on the sofa for the last few nights as our 10 year old GS beagle mix has a small ACL tear in his right hind leg and needs to avoid stairs for several weeks. Since he follows me everywhere I am pretty much confined to the family room with him. Luckily we have a full bathroom downstairs so I can shower in the morning. Hopefully we can avoid surgery for him since he is old and overweight. Your dogs are beautiful and it sounds like you are enjoying every minute of it. Welcome to Tess and I am sure Coal will be completely in love with her very soon. You ae having so much fun!! emoticon

Want to lose weight?-Get a puppy!

Saturday, November 12, 2011

Coal-the resident GSDOG
If any of you are sparking, and are not losing weight fast enough, I suggest you get a puppy--
This morning my weight is down a whole pound---
Yesterday, (as I told you in that blog) we drove to Sudbury and picked up Miss Tess on Air Canada--
She is a little ""going concern"" here--
It's an art, to keep big Coal, the already resident GSDOG from nipping at her--and in a way, I can't blame him-She is always at his heels--chasing him around the kitchen.
Life sure has changed in our household in one day--
Dog toys are everywhere--gravel by the front door from taking her in and out (no accident in the house yet)---dog beds everywhere now---
We were up at 1-30am to let her out of her crate-to tend to her business outside---then she slept till 6am--
We feel like ""new parents""---tending to a new arrival here!
Puppys sure do change one's life--not sure if it's for the better yet-altho food for me at the moment, has taken 2nd place---
- I'll have to keep you posted!

So true about getting a puppy to lose weight!

When I first got Bailey, as soon as he was big enough to go on daily walks, we walked everynight! I managed to lose about 10 pounds just by doing that!

She's beautiful!!

Awww, Miss Tess will settle down. In the meantime, her nickname should be SPARKY as she's helped you get down one pound! LOL

She and Coal will get to be friends. Like with kids, sibling rivalry! Takes time to adjust. But they'll do it.

WOOT on that pound gone forever!!!

What a gorgeous pup! Our puppy is 5 months and we're just starting to give her a LITTLE more freedom in the house. Usually I don't even try to pick up her toys since she loves to play and scatters them all over. I hope Coal will accept and learn to love Miss Tess.

Your dogs are beautiful though,, give all that soft fur a big squeeze and hug from me though..

Your new puppy is adorable!! I miss having a dog so much, but my hubby and I decided not to get another one until our schedules aren't so hectic. We aren't home very much, and we realize that would not be fair to the dog.

I vote for Tessa!!

I hope you have lots of fun with the newest four-legged member of your family!
