Monday morning---5:55am---up and at it here!
-Fed the dog and cat, and drinking wonderful coffee, sitting here Sparkin'----
--then the Dreadmill--the ol' morning routine--
Yesterday I finally ALMOST finished ironing, husbands shirts--also moved all his winter pants to the front of his closet where he can just grab them-(It seems to me that men need stuff put right in front of them, before they see it--LOL)
Yesterday I was grouchy all day--- It was kinda , a, "'Why me?" thing---like----Why do women always have to do all this stuff??--LOL--Crazy the different moods one goes through----This morning, I am pretty happy that I did get all the horrible jobs out of the way---Husband made a wonderful supper while I did the shirt thing---
We are having more rain to-day, and slowly the temperature is dropping. It's five degrees C outside this morning---
So this day has begun--To-day I have a piano lesson. I am doing Gr 8 piano----It takes a lot of practicing to get my lesson ready, as I really am not talented in that department.
And I read on Spark this A.M., that ""journaling"" will double your weight loss, so I will try harder to write every little thing down.
"'If you bite it-write it!""
And right now a gal must do what a gal must do---Get to the Dreadmill-----
Enjoy this day Sparklers--- We are healthier for Spark!

WTG - off to a great start for another great week! Know what you mean, indeed if it's not right in front of them men can see what they're looking for. Nice trade off - although I hate ironing (did far too much when I was a kid and that was one of my chores doing all the family's ironing (6+) can you believe my Dad wanted even his underwear ironed - yuck!) that at least your DH prepared dinner. Have a great day!!!

I like that, "If you bite it, write it!" Definitely.

UGH, let me count the ways I detest ironing. At least you got a good dinner from hubby! Mine can't boil water! LOL

Don't take life too serious!

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Things never were ""the way they used to be.""
Things never will be "the way it's going to be someday.""
Things are always just the way they are for the time being.
And the time being is always in motion.

by----Xenopouloudakis, "'Words I Wish I wrote""

--just something to think about on this rainy Sunday--'Husband just came up and announced that he just heard on CBC radio, that there is a gene that causes heart disease---and that people who eat 2-4 servings of fruits and veggies /day, can rise above heart disease, even with that gene--But--We, Sparklers, knew all this--I think!

I just read in the Canadian Farmer's Almanac for 2012, that if you are going to Spark forever (as I feel I might !)--and if you are a Giant Tortoise, and your life span is 152 yrs, as it says in this book it is, you will receive a lot of Spark points in your life time. But then again, if you were a Bee, or a Gerbil, their life span is only 5 yrs--so-----well, you see where I'm going with this---Ha Ha--Crazy facts!--So much info!!--

It's raining--The ol' weight is SLOWLY going down AGAIN----I'm warning all the US Sparklers out there----- Be Careful of that Pumpkin Pie---It makes your body resemble-a pumpkin---and the scales rise--- It happened here----and I'm still fighting it!!
Enjoy to-day---Eat fruit and veggies---- and don't be too serious!

Resident cat-and fat!

Saturday, October 15, 2011

This is Coal--the GSDog------and Snoop, the fat cat----- looking out at the bird feeder--
I never mention our resident cat--I guess , because he just blends in--
He was a "'donation"" from son #4--He was 6 yrs--We have had him, about 7 yrs--
so--he is not young---
When I picked him up at the shelter (after my son had dropped him off 4 mos prior)--he was sick--very thin---coughing---afraid--
For 6 mos, he lived under our bed--only came out if I dragged him out by the tail--
He still is not a cat who sits willingly on yer lap--but, every evening, down he comes, and sits beside me on the couch--
He has earned his keep-----One Xmas, cornered a mouse in a wall----which I had heard the scratching, but assumed it was the Xmas tree hitting the wall--- Eventually the mouse popped out--and, Snoop , the cat grabbed it, as I was screaming for husband to wake up from his chair in front of the TV---
From then on, husband decided ,Snoop could take up residence permantly, in our home---
Last night , I got up, and found Snoop asleep in the dog bed---the dog confused and lying in the hall---
The dog weighs 120 lbs-----but is just a ""wee boy"" in his huge body---
So------that is the story of the animals living here--the ones I run around, changing their water bowls, putting outside, feeding breakfast, all, before I spark , in the dark--
Life is good for them!

Right now, I am fighting the fat , I gained over Thanksgiving--
Take it from me, all you Sparklers who are waiting for your Turkey dinner--You don't need that pumpkin pie--Trust me!! ---That pie is causing me to fight even more fat right now----
Oh man! Will I ever learn?
The Dreadmill is calling-----Tis raining-----The battle of the bulge continues!

Husband (who has not a drop of fat on him) with grandson-

Luv the pics. We just lost our "rescued" cat who too earned his keep by keeping the mouse population down in our house. Miss him so much. Two and a half years ago we had 3 cats and now they're all gone. And then we lost our boxer just a year ago so now we're down to two dogs. This losing of our furry four-legged friends just seems to get harder and harder. Enjoy yours while you have them - they are so special and only with us for a short while!

Cute story about resident cat! And GS's dog really does sound like a little boy in a big boy's body.

Oh, ture that about pumpkin pie! A moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips. **SIGH** Then there are those like your hubby with NO fat (and I'll bet he can eat anything, right! NOT FAIR I say!)

Have a great day.

45 yrs married--I think!

Friday, October 14, 2011

The FAMILY we created---

We had our wedding anniversary yesterday---or--maybe it is to-day---I think it's to-day--- Lord Love a Duck!!! I must look it up----
45 years-----hard to believe!
We met in the nursery at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa--
He was interning-I was the "'head nurse"" there---
He drove me crazy , as had all my student nurses goggling at him--not doing their work---
Our first date , was a ""double date""--- It started off with us both with other people--
He was from Jamaica--Chinese--Catholic--everything my parents thought was terrible!
Funny how times change eh?
We eloped--married at the Police Station---picked up flowers from the market---
2 weeks later, we married (again)--in Fallowfield Catholic Church--near Ottawa--
Many moons later, and 5 children, we were the ones my parents turned to as they aged--
Husband is a very dependable man--- He is 83 yrs young--still working as a Family Physician----helps me with yard work and vacuums--(very important when one has dogs)--
Is our marriage perfect??-- NO!!!!!
Lordy Be! It's hard being married and he makes me really angry at times--Go figure eh??--
I guess that is pretty normal--Ha Ha--
Sometimes I even believe that marriage should have a "'time limit-""--say--10 YRS---then re-negotiate---
Would I re-negotiate to ""stay in""???---
Well, I guess-----Family to me is so important----He really is my rock---I think!!!--

Congratulations Lynda...its so nice to hear because today you don't see young couples try on their marriages like we did. Yes everyone goes through tough times but i have learned that the one person you can depend on is your spouse. Through thick (thats me now lol) and thin (me when we first got married hehehe)we have presevered. Its not always easy to be married but hey i think its one of the best things in life. I love the picture you posted of your hubby and grown kids....everyone looks so happy in it. Again congrats...you deserve it :))

Congratulations. In this day that is a real accomplishment--people don't seem to accept that marriage will have its ups and downs and that it does take work. You both have done well. His patients must love your husband.

Thanks for sharing your story and have a great day. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Loved your story about how you met and married. And five sons!! How did you ever stay sane? I have one that drives me crazy!!Your family picture is great. You have a beautiful family and you sound really happy after 45 years. I married my high school sweetheart 38 years ago and still think it was the best thing that ever happened to me. And the fact that your husband is still working at 83 is great. I bet his patients love him. Our family doctor retired at 90 a few years ago and we still haven't found one we like half as much.
