Busy Again Yet Healthy Day

Today was full as I was off to Charlottesville again. Today I helped my son, Jeff, and daughter in law, Jaime, as their car needed to go to the shop for the day, so we all worked on some projects at their house for the day and did a bit of shopping as well. I enjoyed going to lunch with them as well and we chose a restaurant where I could eat healthy and gluten free. We did get a lot accomplished and I was glad to take the time to share the day with them. It was a blessing.

I got back home around 5 pm and got busy with some household chores and personal projects I had going. Next I did a heavy workout to get the kinks out and I felt good after pushing it a bit. Every once in a while its good to push a bit harder and today was that day. I felt good after the workout. We ate late and shared a meal while watching TV and after that I took the time to record everything in Spark People and do Spark Coach and here I am. All in all another busy, busy day. I am learning to keep my priorities straight and not to commit to more than I can do and still get my workouts in and keep my eating healthy.

Busy Schedule Helped Sort Priorities

When you have a full plate and you have to make choices you have to sort out what is really most important. What are some of your choices relative to everything else in your life? Do your choices line up with what is really important? Or do you give in to other people's idea of what you should be doing with your time?

Today I had to make some choices because everything was just not going to fit into the day. So I didn't get as many spark points as I would have liked, and I didn't get to spend as much time on Ebay as I would have liked, but I did get a good workout in and I did eat healthy. I did visit a sick friend, and I made and took a meal to someone who needed it. I spent some alone time with my youngest granddaughter, and I did what I believe God would have chosen for me to do. I did check in with one of my teams and share an important moment with someone at a critical point in her life. That was worth doing and vitally important in my world. And at the end of the day I would make those same choices all over again.

I want to thank God for helping me to make some choices that I believe were ordained by him and let some others go that didn't need to happen today necessarily. Tomorrow is another day for many things that are not absolutely critical.

Now for a good night's rest and back at it early in the a.m.

    Thank you so much for your encouraging post. I keep trying to listen for God's plans for my day but I keep getting lost in all the clutter of the world around me and I can't hear him. Still working on this. It helped to hear how someone else makes it work for them. I hope someday to be able to post a note like yours saying I followed God's plan for me today.

Oh Happy Day!!

Any day I wake up and lose a pound is a happy day! And that is today! I finally broke 150 and lost that pound I have been talking about. I think I walked about 25 miles to lose it but it is gone -- and for good. I am officially now in the 140's. 149 is a milestone for me.

So today I had some errands to do and moved forward with some personal business, made healthy homemade tomato soup with all the tomatoes from the garden, and did some more work on Ebay! I have sold a few things and that was on my goal list for the month so I am pleased with that. I had a good workout and will be making some Chicken Curry to take to a sick friend tomorrow and spend some time with her. I now have to lose one more pound by the 31st of July to accomplish my July goal of losing 5 lbs. Hope to make it happen.

Hope all of you are working hard towards your goals because you and I both know that we are so worth it. Make it a priority -- no make yourself the priority! That is the reality. As I have other goals and responsibilities in my life, my first priority is to stick with the healthy regimen that I set out to do -- no matter what else happens in my day. I simply will not fail myself. I have done that before and it simply doesn't play well. It leads to negativity, depression, lowered sense of self esteem. You know, on and on. We've all been there and it isn't pretty. So make it a great day tomorrow and kick it up a notch!

Another Busy Day

Monday, July 22, 2013

Today was another busy day starting out with driving to Charlottesville to watch my granddaughter Anna and so we went thrift store shopping in the morning. Then we had lunch with my daughter Kelly and Hailey my other granddaughter. It was great to have a girls day! Then they went on to the movies and I had to head home to attend to some business errands in a town north of us. Lots of driving around so got home late in the day. I made dinner Pan Parmesan Chicken (yum) and then did my workout after dinner digested a bit. Just now getting on the computer and recording everything.

Busy, busy day. Tomorrow have a lot less driving around -- but more errands around our little town. Felt good because I didn't let the attractions of the day and the business of the day prevent healthy eating (at lunch I had a healthy salad) or prevent my workout.

2 Workouts Today...

We made a day trip of it over to the Blue Ridge Parkway, specifically the George Washington National Forest. Did you know that Seniors can get a $10 lifetime pass to our National Parks and Federal Recreation Areas. I did not know that and we discovered that today when we went for a hike on the Loft Mountain Loop trail up in the Blue Ridge Mountains between the Charlottesville area and the Shenandoah Valley. It was gorgeous up there and ten degrees cooler than on the piedmont area where we live. We got started on our trail and unfortunately it began to cloud up seriously and rumble. So as a result we only got about a mile done before we had to turn around and we made it back to the car just in time. We enjoyed it nonetheless and will be going back soon! The campgrounds up there are half price as well so it is kind of a nice deal. The trails are the real deal though. They have spectacular views, are well maintained and the wildlife is quite tame as they are protected from hunters up there.

After that trip we got home and as I still needed a workout I got on the old treadmill and did another 2 miles and felt good doing it. I am finding that my stamina has grown and I can go faster and burn more calories in the same amount of time. So that is encouraging.

It has been a busy weekend and I have a busy day planned for tomorrow as I am spending it with my granddaughter while my daughter works and then we'll probably go for a swim in the afternoon. I hope that each of you had a great day and are on track for your healthy goals!
