A Kayak in the Swimming Pool !!

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

Well guys, I've seen it all. Today my son put his kayak in our swimming pool and the grandkids and our dog, Max, and Jeff were all in it clowning around. So funny! LOL I just had to get a picture of that mess! Anyway, it was a fun day and I will add some other photos as well. Thought you'd like a good laugh!

What a bunch of sillies! It was a fun day!

Hope you are having a wonderful end of your summer! Our grandkids are headed for CT for a week and then after their return they are back to school! Hard to believe!

Blessings to you and yours,

It looks like fun. I used to put my Scottie on a raft in the pool. He wore sunglasses. LOL.

Haha I love the dog being in front like he (or she?) is the captain. That kayak appears to fit rather well, I thought it'd be too big!

Thursdays Journal Entry...

Thursday, August 01, 2013

Stardate 8.1.2013 - Worked out doing cardio for an hour tonight. Went to help son and daughter in law in Charlottesville today and got a lot done, sorting out, cleaning, helping them and dropping off and picking up their car with them as it was in the shop again. Hopefully, the car will be in good shape for a while.

Went out to dinner with friends at TGIF (Fridays) in Charlottesville before coming home and had a chicken kebob with a little rice and squash. It was healthy and delicious...highly recommend it. Had a salad bar lunch so it was a good healthy diet kind of a day. Still putting fluids into the old body as I didn't get quite enough of them being on the road. Need to work on that more -- getting more fluids when I am out.

Hope this finds all my Spark Friends doing well and staying on track for today! That's all we can do guys -- just take care of today! The Lord said: "Give us this day..." as the model in his prayer. Good advice for me to take. I tend to look ahead a little too much. Not that we shouldn't set goals and plan -- but remain open to what God is doing in our lives and sensitive to what the Spirit is saying to us.

Until tomorrow, make it a healthy day!
Blessings to you and yours,
Sheila emoticon emoticon emoticon

Report on July Goals

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

So this is the 31st and I have been sitting here with my July goal list pasted to the edge of my computer all month. How have I done? Well, the really good news is that I lost the 5 lbs. I wanted to lose this month. The last one dropped this morning -- that is what I call close, but I made it! The other items on my list included:

Sell items on Ebay -- I have sold almost $250 worth of stuff that I didn't need!
Lose 5 lbs. -- I went from 153 lbs. to 148 lbs. - Yea me!
Clean out 2 refrigerators - yuck job - did that the first day to get it over!
Take photos of food for cookbook - did 8 photos and inserted them! (more to go)
Paint card table - Did not get this done (mea culpa)
Find part time job - I do have an application in the works and initial contacts made (so technically not done)

So there's the report. Actually I'm pretty happy with it. I guess my motivation to paint the card table isn't too high. Will rethink that one. The part time job -- to be honest I was reluctant to make it a high priority until I got a lead on a job (full time) that I would really like to have. Then I got resume together, put the online application in, took the supervisory test (and passed), and now I am waiting for the interview. I am really excited about it so will be praying about that one!

My main focus has been to get healthy and I am getting there. I have lost 12 lbs. so far and I am pleased with that.

Here is my August goal list:

Lose 5 lbs. by August 31st
Find, interview and secure job.
Sell $200 in items on Ebay

That's it for now. I may think of other things later, but if I become employed I don't want to have too much on my plate (pun intended!)

I do like this goal setting stuff even though it is short term, it is certainly motivating and working for me! Hope you are setting your goals and getting motivated as well!

Take great care of yourself,
Sheila emoticon emoticon emoticon

No, DH is busy on the treadmill and has actually lost a couple of pounds himself. He works out every day now. So that's a good thing!

Busy Again Yet Healthy Day

Friday, July 26, 2013

Today was full as I was off to Charlottesville again. Today I helped my son, Jeff, and daughter in law, Jaime, as their car needed to go to the shop for the day, so we all worked on some projects at their house for the day and did a bit of shopping as well. I enjoyed going to lunch with them as well and we chose a restaurant where I could eat healthy and gluten free. We did get a lot accomplished and I was glad to take the time to share the day with them. It was a blessing.

I got back home around 5 pm and got busy with some household chores and personal projects I had going. Next I did a heavy workout to get the kinks out and I felt good after pushing it a bit. Every once in a while its good to push a bit harder and today was that day. I felt good after the workout. We ate late and shared a meal while watching TV and after that I took the time to record everything in Spark People and do Spark Coach and here I am. All in all another busy, busy day. I am learning to keep my priorities straight and not to commit to more than I can do and still get my workouts in and keep my eating healthy.

Hope all of you are staying healthy as well,
Sheila emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Busy Schedule Helped Sort Priorities

Thursday, July 25, 2013

When you have a full plate and you have to make choices you have to sort out what is really most important. What are some of your choices relative to everything else in your life? Do your choices line up with what is really important? Or do you give in to other people's idea of what you should be doing with your time?

Today I had to make some choices because everything was just not going to fit into the day. So I didn't get as many spark points as I would have liked, and I didn't get to spend as much time on Ebay as I would have liked, but I did get a good workout in and I did eat healthy. I did visit a sick friend, and I made and took a meal to someone who needed it. I spent some alone time with my youngest granddaughter, and I did what I believe God would have chosen for me to do. I did check in with one of my teams and share an important moment with someone at a critical point in her life. That was worth doing and vitally important in my world. And at the end of the day I would make those same choices all over again.

I want to thank God for helping me to make some choices that I believe were ordained by him and let some others go that didn't need to happen today necessarily. Tomorrow is another day for many things that are not absolutely critical.

Now for a good night's rest and back at it early in the a.m.

Take care all,
Sheila emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you so much for your encouraging post. I keep trying to listen for God's plans for my day but I keep getting lost in all the clutter of the world around me and I can't hear him. Still working on this. It helped to hear how someone else makes it work for them. I hope someday to be able to post a note like yours saying I followed God's plan for me today.

Most of us have to make decisions like this every day and it's good to run them by a higher power to make sure they are the right choices. Good job.
