tactical change

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Well, it's been another week and another pound lost. Yeah! Not as much as I was hoping, but sometimes you can't beat Mother Nature (if you know what I mean). You may have noticed, I also changed my program. I remember now why I never actually stuck with Weight Watchers, I become obsessed with staying in those Points, But I don't actually eat what I should be eating. No milk on some days, it's too many Points. Man, I'm about to starve because I ate a really Point heavy breakfast, but now it's supper time and I only have 3 left, so I can only eat some carrots. This is not living people, this is imprisonment to Points! Of course, some people have had great success with Weight Watchers, The Duchess of York is still looking very thin, and a little closer to home, my Mother in Law has lost 50 pounds with it. But it's just not for me.
So anyway, about half way through this week, I decided that I was never going to make it to April like this, so I made a tactical decision. I know how I'm suppose to eat and exercise, my body tells me when it's hungry, when it's full, I feel like moving when I need to move. It's time to actually start listening. And I did lose a pound. So, I am going to start doing this. I'll let you know how it works. emoticon

One "point" is 50 calories. If you are on 22 Points, that is 1100 calories for the day.

I'm happy she lost fifty pounds. BUT, do what works for YOU. emoticon

Success!

Saturday, November 08, 2008

Well, the past few days have been interesting, to say the least. Thursday I found out that I was getting a promotion, one that I did not apply for, nor did I know that I was being considered for. But I got it! A supervisory position with more pay. I'm very excited. The only down side is that it is at a different location, so I have to leave my coworkers that I have been with for 3 years. Also, I start Monday, so I really didn't have anytime to say "Bye" of anything. But that's OK. Last night, me, my husband and some friend went out to eat, drink and celebrate. We had a great time. I didn't necessarily eat the healthiest thing on the menu, but that's OK too. We were celebrating and having a good time. And this morning I did my first official weigh in, and I lost 1.5 lbs. Yeah! It has been a great first week and I am pumped and ready to start the next. But for now, it's time to do some house cleaning (Does that count as exercise?) emoticon

The promotion sounds great. If you read OG MANDINO'S books, you will get the jest of how working at your best brings about rewards like "getting a raise and not even knowing about it." emoticon

Wow, congrats on the promotion! It is a bummer leaving coworkers you get along with, but in an economy like this, shoot -- what an opportunity! The 1.5 lbs loss is just the sugar-free frosting on the low-fat cake, right? LOL.

Finally!!!

Thursday, November 06, 2008

Today I finally got around to exercising. Yeah Me!! It's not that I don't like to exercise, I actually enjoy it. It just that I have been sick and today is the first day I actually felt worth anything. It never seems to fail, and please let me know if anyone else seems to have this problem. I get all pumped up and excited about starting a new diet and getting all health and next thing you know, I get sick. I had a horrible head cold, couldn't breath, coughing, everything. But today I actually still had some energy when I got home from work, so I changed clothes and shoes and got out the day before I could change my mind. Annie was so happy. She just wagged her tail and jumped around until I got her leash on her. So now, we are both back from our little jog, feeling much better and a little tired, but in a good way. emoticon

Scout Nite

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Oh yeah, did I mention that me and my husband are both Boy Scout leaders. He leads the older boys while I'm the Cubmaster for a CubScout Pack. So anyway, tonight both of us will be getting home late, starving. If anyone knows of some truly quick ( I mean like 10 minute, quick) meal ideas that are healthy, please let me know. That's all I got time for, and it's off to Scouts. . . . emoticon

Yes, I read "The Thunderbolt Kid" and loved it, since I grew up in the 50's. Bill has such an international way of looking at life, but he is a Sagittarius, so he fits it right by the book. He has lots of ENERGY, and I love that about him. I especially like "The Sunburnt Country" as I'd love to go to Australia.

Not that I've made these recently -- but how about tuna melts? Mix up a can of tuna (in water, not oil) with low-fat mayo, tabasco sauce, mustard and some relish, put it open-faced on a slice of whole wheat, slap a slice of your favorite cheese on top (my bf like swiss), broil it until the cheese is melty, top with the other slice of bread and voila! Serve with maybe some steamed veggies or one of those bags of salad greens tossed with a vinagrette, and you've got protein, whole grains and leafy greens.

When I'm in a crunch, honestly I usually just toast half a whole wheat english muffin and top it with peanut butter and low-fat cottage cheese, lol. It's a weird combo I acquired a taste for in college. But I also don't cook for anybody but myself. :)

Go Scouts go!!!

I'm no help. I make myself "South Beach Diet" dinners and let the guys fix their own stuff. They did pizza tonight. I'm sick of cooking!! emoticon

Day 2

Sunday, November 02, 2008

Well, the wedding was beautiful and we had a great time. Today, my husband and I participated in a Boy Scouts Veteran Hike. It was a lot of fun and the boys all seemed to enjoy it. And as an extra bonus, I got in some great exercise!
