Cool down

Monday, January 31, 2011

What a cool way to wait out the ice storm, in my pajamas, on my laptop & catching up on spark blogs! Me and several of my co-workers have called in sick for the next couple of days because of the storm. Gotta love those sick days!

Be safe out there if you haven't reached your destination yet!!!

It's my new look

Saturday, December 11, 2010

After I took down my braids Thurdsday night I was puzzled as to what I would do next with my hair. I looked in the mirror and told myself I wanted something new, fresh looking and classy! So I made the decision to have it cut!

Periodically I would look in the mirror and was disappointed with my hair styles. I made a comment to my friend that I didn't want to be overlooked & ordinary. She started laughing at me. I really didn't care becuase most of the time we all have that I need a change type of moment.

My mission is completed and now I have a new hair style that represents the me!

I took this picture after I found me some nice dress slacks in JCPenny, I was so happy because the pants only costed me $5. That's what happens when you shop on the clearance rack & you have extra discount coupons!

Just when you feel like you're at your lowest! The other day I was in the funkiest mood despite me getting up earlier than usual, having a nice breakfast & me getting to work 1 hour earlier. Numbness just took over me, the type of numbness where you don't want to speak to a soul. I was craving alone time. I emotionally deleted myself from my family, my daughter & husband wasn't happy with that, but it was something that I needed to do.

I locked my bedroom door, turned on the tv & hoped something would be on to cheer me up cuddled myself in the warmest blanket. Last thing I knew I had drifted off to sleep. The next morning I felt great! Maybe I just needed to rest mentally & physically.

But today that same feeling came back while I was in group fitness & I just totally ignored it. I'm so proud of myself because today I completed 2 sets of 20 pushups, 2 sets of 20 chess press without stopping!!!

I am so proud of you. It is important to take time to rejuvenate your mind and body. Sleep is highly underrated but it does a body good.

Take care and be good to you, gorgeous. Great work!!

I have those days of complete BLAH and sometimes you just need to suck it up and don't pay it any attention. Working out definitely helps it go away.

Good job sticking to the pushups.

As soon as I saw this I had to check it out. It was a very interesting study and may "work" short term, but I'm sure it would have some very adverse long term side effects. Just goes to show you that counting calories is very important.

I think it is certainly interesting and seems to confirm that calorie counting is a big piece of the puzzle. If he kept his calories the same I am interested in the fact that adding meat made his triglycerides go up again. I can't think of a biochemical justification of that but if there is one then that is significant.

I guess if this would help a person stick to their plan, do whatever it takes. Just don't plan to run any marathons fueled on twinkies alone!

I heard about this on the radio, so I had to find it on the computer for myself. They said it worked because of the calorie counting, and not so much nutrition values. I guess in a way I do the same thing. I count my calories and watch the components. But try to always stay in my calorie range. It seems to work. However not so healthy in the long run, I bet he will gain all his lose pounds back! emoticon I hate when that happens. emoticon

It definitely feels good to be back! I have been studying for my engineering licensure exam & it's a relief for it to be over. I won't get my results back until the second or third week in December. I know it sucks to wait that long!

I have been going strong with week with tracking my food & exercising. I have made a committment with my P90X team this Monday to do the entire 90 days as scheduled. Today makes Day 6 & I'm feeling good, I even did the yoga dvd which I always hated. I still don't like it but I will do it as planned.

Today I promised my friend that I would join her at the survival fitness bootcamp & it was intense, considering it was my first week back to exercising.

I love to wear shorts when I work out, and as the class started I seen everyone walking towards the door. I asked the instructor are we seriously going outside to run up a hill in this weather & he said yes. I was like oh crap!

The best part about this entire experience today was my SPORTS BRA! I went to the women's event on Thursday at the Running Company and they had bra fitting sessions, that was totally up my alley & a good way for me to get my mojo back! At first I was afraid they would have to order bra's for me because the stores never carry my size but they did & I purchased two with a 20% discount. You talking about happiness! Today I put the bra to the test & it's so comfortable & not annoying.
