Hula Hoop Hilarity

I was a pro with a hula hoop as a kid, so I couldn't resist picking one up today to give it another whirl. What was I thinking? This stuff is harder than it looks!

After looking around, I found that my cheap-o dollar store purchase isn't really worth the buck I spent, not for someone of my age and girth trying to use it for exercise.

I'll need to try something else if I want to return to my childhood. Read the link below for more about my day, and better information on hula hoops for exercise.

    You are right! The Dollar Tree Hula Hoops won't work because they are too light weight. I have a weighted Hula Hoop, and it wasn't long before I was 'hooping' as well as I could do it as a kid. Keep on Hooping!

    Hi, I'm Laura and I just joined today. Saw your blog post and enjoyed it. I bought a 2.5 lbs. weighted hula hoop a few months ago and I love it! Took a while to get back into it (I was kid-pro too!) and I didn't read the instructions (I know - instructions for hula-hooping?!). As I said, it's weighted. I went for 15 minutes (with stops & starts) my 1st day and I could barely move the next day! I didn't bruise (although I've heard that can happen), but my entire midsection felt bruised! After I healed, I followed the instructions and just did two minutes a day for about two weeks. I'm now up to 15 minutes every other day and I enjoy it very much. Great blog post!

Do you follow a training plan?

If you're just starting out on the road to fitness, training plans can be an important tool to use on your journey. I picked one that I think is right for me, but there are loads of them out there and there should be one that's just right for you too.

I got ahead of myself on my current training plan without realizing it, so need to back up and stay with the program.
