I came back to sparkpeople to recharge my nutrition and fitness after slacking on my healthy habits for a long while. Not only did I come back for myself but I signed up to be a community leader, ack lol. Now I not only need to motivate myself, but I need to motivate OTHERS!!

I can do it. I will do it. Just do it! Thanks Nike lol. Hopefully I can use my journey as an encouragement to others to stay positive, stay on track, don't beat ourselves up, and to just relax and enjoy the journey :)

Not much of an intro to my first day back. Maybe I can make this a more interesting read.

A New Path to Fitness

I have discovered a better balance for myself in regards to fitness. I have realized that I was not doing enough strength training as I should be, especially since I am not exactly super young anymore. I am following a book written by some well respected trainers within the fitness realm. The book is New Rules of Lifting: Supercharged, for men and women by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Crossgrove. This book is life changing and I highly recommend it for anyone that is trying to lose weight, change their body composition, loose fat, "tone" up, or just plain want to get ridiculously strong. I feel like Wonder Woman :D

I track my food and keep an eye on my weight, but at about 3 months into the program, I lost 3 inches, gained strength, and barely any changes in my weight, plus no dieting. Also, I hardly ever do any cardio except things I enjoy. I might add a cycling class into it because I do love a good sweat sesh every so often. My labs and everything have been absolutely perfect at the doctor, plus I can't even get thru the office without a doctor/nurse commenting on what great shape I am in. And if you saw me, I bet you would never guess that I am 5lbs away from being considered at an obese weight, wearing a women's size 6. I am fairly lean and muscular now. I might not be the size 2 that I used to be, but I am probably close to being that lean and definitely more muscular. I lift heavy weights, eat good tasty food, and enjoy life. Who wants to be a crabby starving size 2 when you can be a very happy muscled size 6 :D

    emoticon Congratulations on discovering (or Re-Discovering) a Love for Lifting. It really IS The Fountain Of Youth, in My Opinion.
emoticon Also Big Congratulations on the Great Lab Results!! That is W-A-Y More important than a Number on the Scale, OR the Size of your Jeans (although Size 6 is Phenomenal!!)

I figured out my blogging issues

I have a pop-up blocker on Google Chrome and for some reason when I click the button to add a blog entry, it will not ask me if I want to open the pop-up. Not sure how to fix this. I am just using another browser to blog.

Anyway, I also have not been around because everyone in my house has been sick sick sick and I have been taking care of a sick baby while being sick! No time for logging anything till recently so I am going to try to get back on track!

As I have gotten a little more knowledgable about food over the years, after taking various biology classes and nutrition classes, I have become more aware of what is going into my body and into my baby's body! I have become concerned about the pesticides and chemicals that farmers use on our vegetables. I have been trying to buy organic in the dirty dozen category at the least. What are your thoughts about what we eating as far as chemicals go? Do you know what you are eating?

I cannot keep up with anything during christmas but at least I was able to work out most days during the week of christmas and hopefully throughout the christmas break!! Its such a busy time but still so important to fit in exercise :D

I have not lost weight but I have lost fat % which still means that I am on track towards my goal :D
